You should have done it as a 3 saw test. The old with with and without orbital mode vs the new one. Also labeling them which is which would make it easier to see who won.
Overall great video!! You really did a fantastic job show casing the tools

If you’re flat out testing which one cuts faster, you should at least test the orbital mode. I never really turn it off, so I’m disappointed that the new one doesn’t have it.

Yep. It's the only reason I came to watch the video. It's the key feature difference. So test it dummy

I'm gonna go ahead and join the ranks of people who want to see the new saw vs the old saw's orbital feature. If I've got the old saw and someone shows up on the job site with the new one, I'm not going to turn off orbital mode to make things "more fair." The best that each saw can do is the only real comparison that matters.

My new one lasted about 1 year. Now it starts if it wants to, usually not. Moving over to Kobalt now.

Just picked up the old one at garage in great looking & working shape for 10 dollars not to concerned about speed difference for that price,. You should have adjusted the old one to oscillating blade mode, maybe it would have kept up with new one.

Great video, the new Hp version has such a long stroke compared to the og..and less vibration..hmm.. I might upgrade..lol

I bought the new one about 3 months ago and I like it.

Did you open either one and see if the drive assembly had any lubrication? Other videos showed that there was no lubrication which seemed to put strain and possibly wear out the reciprocation channel.

for the newer model, there is no need of vibration filter to the handler, that is why it is removed

Untrue, there is nothing about the newer design that gets rid of the back and forth force from the sawing itself. They removed it because it does slightly reduce performance to have the saw moving a little against the blade stroke. This is largely due to dwerps on youtube who can't see past making a race out of every tool test, instead of analyzing value, build quality, cuts per charge, how hard it can be pushed till it overheats (or overheat shutdown circuit kicks in), etc.
It'd be different if you're a contractor and tool speed impacts productivity to the point where it decreases job completion rate and income, income which you can use to buy a contractor grade tool instead.

I've had the newer version for about 2 months now and use it pretty very frequently (at least 2 -3 times a week) at work taking down n trimming bushes n trees,,, and it performs well and everything, but I just wish it had the damn orbital setting as well,,, I'll use my friends rigid saw w orbital and can see the difference in the cut on reg recip vs orbital . when his rigid is on reg cut, it's no difference vs my ryobi ,,, but throw on the orbital and it blasts past mine like nothing. and idl about everyone else saying you don't need the vibration shit in the new one, but mine will shake the fuck outta my hand over time when cutting up heftier shits.. and the rubber grip on new one has come unglued n slides around almost over the shoe now .. it just seems a lil lower in build quality vs the other one.

would be curious to see how it did with the orbital mode turned on.

Brushless vs non brushless. Does it matter too much with recipro saws? I'm ditching my DeWalts and going with Ryobi but if I can save a little money going non brushless on a saw I'd like to. HD Black Friday sale is looking good for the switch over.

blew up 3 1 a month what went the gears under the grip to move the blade the gears all blew through the housing looked like a car motor blowing a rod 😱 all blew in a month with light use looks the same to me just brushless. I will skip this one. Till proven better. went with the one hander 🤔🤣💪

For everyone saying he should’ve used the extra mode, that proves how superior the new version is. If it needed an extra mode just to keep up then it exposes that feature as a gimmick because it’s found on higher end sawzalls that actually need it. If the new version had it the price point would be higher and would make it out of reach for its target customers because it’ll actually perform the function to take on bigger jobs and not merely keep up.

heres how it works the the newer style tool will out perform the older style BU UT the will not last ~ half as long as the older style tool . These companies know exactly what they are doing making tools that catch the consumer with performance etc But are cheap junk made toast in 2 years or less IF that .
