    They need to make the bigger multi-battery "generator" form factor work with 18 volt batteries! I believe a large part of the customer base has built up a sizeable 18 volt battery supply (I have lost count over the 10 years I have used Ryobi) and I would love to put 4 or 6 batteries onto a unit that can kick out 1500+ watts, but also recharge all batteries attached from multiple sources (110v, solar, 12v, etc). This would be my dream product. I really don't want to have a second form factor with 40v batteries. If I go that route, EGO seems to have a more compelling product, but the point is, I don't want to- I want to be One+ for life. PLEASE RYOBI, PLEASE I hope your reading these :)

      I would like to see an 18v generator option as well. I have a dozen 18v batteries and zero 40v products. I own ego products for my yard tool needs and may end up going with their generator when the time comes.

    • @klum65
      @klum65 2 роки тому +10

      @@oh-qn6ht I agree, Ryobi needs to have an inverter that is powered by at least 6 18 volt batteries, and puts out a pure sine wave. Come on Ryobi, you can do this in your sleep.

      Totally agree with you. That is way we need. 18v is the household tools and the biggest seller. Both dwalt and milwalkey have a solution. Thy should fix a generator/multi charger that can handle there solar panels.

    • @christopherfoote3395
      @christopherfoote3395 2 роки тому +3

      They have a lot of 40V batteries in the wild that goes with their yard tools. The 40v generator makes the most sense since the batteries are much larger. You would have to have a generator with a whole bunch of 18V batteries to compete, which doesn't make a lot of sense for a power station/generator. That's why they gave you options to use one 18V battery for small power needs.

    Did the math on the solar charger and they're definitely pushing the numbers. "Charge 9 2.0ah batteries in 24hrs" That's 24hrs of 100% direct sunlight. So in reality it'll take about 3-4 summer days or 6-9 winter days to get 18ah of power. So it may charge a single 4.0ah/5.0ah in a day if you're lucky; doubtful though.

      I wish they'd come out with an updated version of their 6-port super charger that allows you to plug in six batteries and use it as a portable power station. Milwaukee and DeWalt (I think) have one like that. I'm just getting some of the 9amp batteries and it would be nice for a power outage, even if it keeps something like a fridge going for a few hours. Might mean the difference between keeping and losing food.

    Have always been a big Ryobi fan (I've built a solar stand, pool deck, and workshop primarily with Ryobi power tools -- and one big Dewalt miter saw to chop the boards down to size). I've got a couple of the 150w inverters; my wife takes one with a couple of 4AH batteries with her to run her portable oxygen machine. So it is all about the price point for their bigger inverters, I already have solar running 2 pure sine wave inverters.

    Love ryobi tools. I like the fact that they make their new battery’s fit their older power tools so you don’t have to go buy a new drill or saw like the other tool manufacturers. I bought my ryobi 8 pieces tool set over 20 years ago and the batteries went bad. They were the ni-cd type. I use to have a black and decker weed wacker and leaf blower they went bad so I got a ryobi weed wacker and leaf blower and that’s when I found out that the new plus one lithium batteries would work with my old power tools and love them. Instead of having to go buy a new drill I just go and get a new battery. Way cheaper then buying a new tool. I can get two new batteries for the price of a new drill on other battery power tool and I like the fact that they have a way to charge them from the sun when you are not near a place to plug in to electrical power.

I thought my first Ryobis were junk...until the lithium batteries came out (Yes, the drill was still junk but the rest were _much_ better after that). I've added to the collection over the years and they're still making me money. Not just the green ones, either. I still have the blue recip saw, miter saw, shop vac, and just replaced my blue circular saw with _another_ blue one (finally killed the first one doing laminate flooring for the umteenth time with it) because the green one has terrible balance.
      People seem to think that "construction" means huge job sites for new construction, where you need the biggest and beefiest of tools. Truth be told, the vast majority of us never need to be able to cut fifty 4x4s in a row, drive half a dozen 12" lag bolts without stopping, or any of the other "torture tests" they like to put tools through. I'm a pretty heavy diy guy and love what i see from Milwaukee and realize they make good shit, but when it comes time for me to buy some new tools and invest in a platform, I think i'll pick Ryobi. The price to performance ratio they have is unbeatable and they have a crazy extensive battery platform that damn near covers anything you'd ever need.

      I've been using Ryobi in construction and hasn't let me down, not once. Great tools I don't care what the guys say at work. At the end of the day they ask me if they can use my Ryobi.

      I built our entire 2200 sq ft net zero house using one drill and impact, dropped many times from high up and survived entire build. I wouldn’t buy anything else.

      I have both systems. Ryobi for all the basic power tools and milwaukee for my 1/2 high torque impact. Had ryobi had there new high torque impact when I bought mine, I probably wouldn't have the milwaukee. With that said though i definitely don't regret owning both 18v systems. I have a milwUkee leaf blower that is comparable to a lot of the 40volt systems blowers.
      Also you can buy an adapter to utilize milwaukee battery's with ryobi tools and vice versa. I always recommend folks to stick with as few systems as possible so your not trying to manage 5 different types of battery packs but in this case 2 is liveable and I have never had an issue.
      I just got my hands on ryobis new high torque 1/2in nd am very impressed, rated at 1190ftlbs and very light compared to my Milwaukee but that Milwaukee is a beast. The rest are only just catching up to what the milwaukee 1/2in impact is capable of. Ridgids high torque is very impressive from what I hear as well.

    Ryobi is definitely pushing some innovation. Hope the blue competitor from the other big box store is taking notes for my sake.

    I'm looking forward to the release of the integrated solar panel. Sure I could go out and get one and make it work to charge the batteries, but the integrated solution makes perfect sense. Just set it out in the sun and your batteries will slowly charge throughout the day. Hopefully it comes out soon!

    It's nice to see ryobi moving in the direction of greener energy.
    Solar is the next play for sure, but I'm hoping to see bigger solar panels coming out. 100w solar panels will take 2 hours of full sun for their 9ah 18v batteries.
