Canadian here 🇨🇦 We do beans & wieners, which is just hotdog wieners cut into bite-sized slices thrown into the bean pot. Then, it can be enjoyed by the spoonful, or on toast! Our family tends to eat thicker, multi-grain bread (from a German bakery). Butter is a must!

I spent some time in London when I was in college. There was always HP Sauce in the house. When I found HP Sauce on the grocery store shelf here in the US I have no doubt the other shoppers thought I had won the lottery or perhaps my mind.

We do the same here in Australia but we don't put sauce on it. Just buttered toast and hot baked beans. We also do tinned spaghetti on toast or in a jaffer maker so good

To be fair the beans were definitely lacking ‘juice’ so I suspect you had them cooking on too high a heat - once they start bubbling, turn them down very low and keep stirring them so they don’t stick! Oh, and a way to make it even better is to grate some cheddar cheese on top as soon as the beans are added - delish!

I think the HB is good with the beans because it had vinegar in it which combines nicely with the tomato sauce for the beans. You can also try Worcestershire sauce instead, it's much thinner and has a stronger vinegary kick

HP Sauce is a little sweeter than A1, and includes both tamarind and dates, where A1 has a more pronounced note of black pepper.
