I feel like we’re exposed to more food preservatives everyday, and it’s hard to buy family-safe foods since companies use lobbyists to work with the FDA to tout some chemicals as safe. There’s no proper independent research anymore it seems.
@AliHassan-iq9gv It’s like they posted a comment & disappeared from the replies 😢 it’s been 3 weeks.. I don’t think we’re learning anything about food preservatives today boss 😔
Yes, Apple Jacks and Frosted flakes were a favorite of ours for a little while along with Sugar Corn Pops, and Sugar crisp cereals, those lasted a small amount of time at our home, then we went back to Cherrios, Cornflakes, Life Cereal, Raisin Bran and oatmeal the way mom prepared it for us.
Frosted Flake would likely be a hit. I doubt Cocoa Pebbles and Apple Jacks would work since it looks like the UK tastebuds don't like artificial cocoa and fruit flavours.
Yeah, question about that as a Brit who grew up in the general Essex area: is Coco Pops a British-only cereal or is it American and British? I haven’t seen much of it where I live, but it’s always been the *only* (and I mean *only*) cereal I’ll have since I turned five and discovered my tastebuds 😂
@@xshimaeraxx_ I had to Google Cocoa Pops because I don’t remember that cereal but turns out it was in the UK first and then came to US with the same name, then we changed the name to Cocoa Krispies and they’re still available today.
@@jen0718 huh! I got some the other day and the box says “Coco Pops” but I admit “Coco Krispies” *does* sound familiar… they prolly just kept the og name for the UK and changed it to Coco Krispes for the USA 😅
I was a little surprised by their reaction with Trix and Froot Loops. But after they mentioned that they didn't have artificial fruit flavored cereal over there, I guess it makes sense.
@@TheLovelyxFrrogo To each their own I suppose. I barely got to eat that kind of cereal as a kid, so I would have to buy my own box when I got older. It's been a long while so not sure how I would feel about them now, but I used to love to eat them on occasion in my younger days.
We have them in the UK. I'm not sure if they taste slightly different, but they're called Curiously Cinnamon (used to be Cinnamon Grahams). I sometimes get the Aldi knockoff Cinnamon Chips.
Ha ha! I'm old enough to have been a kid when Cap'n Crunch came out in the 70s and the kid who said it's so crunchy it cuts your mouth...Nailed it. We always used say to our friends the Cap'n so good he cut up the roof of my mouth this morning!
I loved Fruit Loops as a kid. Hadn’t had them in over 30 years, but a hotel we were staying in had them in their breakfast buffet. I ate four bowls, was SO happy. And I was hungry again two hours later, because of course, there is virtually nothing good in them. 😂
I wish they had also had them try some of our cereals that aren't so sweet: Cheerios, Honey-Nut Cheerios, Rice Krispies, Kiks even Wheaties. We don't all eat overly-sugared varieties.
Honey nut still is very high sugar but I have to say it’s my favorite. I don’t eat grains or carbs an last time I had captain crunch I was 10 lol mom never had that stuff in the house only once in a while
Cinnamon Toast Crunch is KING. Thank goodness it was in the lineup. Cinnamon Toast Crunch, Honey Bunches of Oats, and Honey Nut Cheerio would be cereal I could eat every day for the rest of my life, and now that I've grown up, Cracklin' Oat Bran is a nice bit to change things up once and a while.
I love the way they say how terrible it is yet keep eating it. Some student will seem to be enjoying it and as soon as another classmate expresses disfavor the others do as well.
So wonderful that they were able to donate money to the school. Thank you to Jolly and their sponsor for making it happen. The headmaster has said they have kids from all different income levels. Love that they're giving students a wonderful experience to try all different foods and get comfortable being on camera.
I think Apple Jacks should have been a part of this tasting. Probably my all time favorite fruit flavored sugary cereal as a kid. Smells like Saturday morning cartoons.
Of all of the flavoured cereals, I think this was one of the least overpowering, and it always seemed less sweet. Thanks for mentioning it - it's been literally decades since I've even thought of it!
reading “smells like saturday morning cartoons” immediately brought back that apple jacks and fruit loops smell that I remembered oh my god… thank you cuz i totally forgot about that part of my childhood and it felt so warm and nice 😭😭
There needs to be a sequel. Frosted Mini Wheats, Cocoa Pebbles, Golden Grahams, Frosted Flakes, Life, Peanut Butter Cap'n Crunch, Cheerios, Raisin Bran Crunch...the kids might like some of these.
I never knew before but It seems like we have a lot of similar cereals in the UK as you have in the states. We don't have anything that looks like Life or Peanut Butter Cap'n Crunch, but the rest you mention we have, just sometimes under a slightly different name.
I knew they were going to find them too sweet, but when they were saying the Lucky Charms were too sweet, I knew we were in trouble, because that’s not a sweet American cereal lol

@pattiwhite9575 General Mills figured out the world's secrets when they gave us Cinnamon Toast Crunch and French Toast Crunch. You are right, though, that Smores was amazing.
Oh my gosh, this is sooo much fun to watch! 😂 I’m 60 years old and these breakfast cereals have been around forever, I ate them myself. My biggest memory involving these sweet breakfast items is laying on a carpeted floor, belly down with my bowl of cereal in front of me on a Saturday morning and watching a show called Wonderama. I’m sure there are some folks in the comments here who are quite familiar.. and the ads that were featured were mostly toys.. and you guest it.. cereals! 😂 When the show was over I’d leave the house to meet up with my neighborhood friends where we’d ride bikes, play made up games or generally just mucked around all day. Sometimes we’d all go to a friends house or my own to grab a sandwich for lunch but most of the time we were too busy having fun to think about it. As long as we got our little tails back home by the time the street lamps came on at sunset then all was good. You didn’t EVER want your parents to have to come looking for you, we knew better! If it happened once it never happened again bc you got your ass chewed out all the way home plus you lost your privileges to go out and play the next day.. it was a heart breaker! LoL I don’t know about anyone else but I couldn’t leave the house wearing just anything, I had to put on my “play” clothes. Those were some fun independent times, not something we allow our kids to do nowadays.. and I suppose rightfully so. Do they still put toys in the bottom of those boxes of cereal? It was the reason we chose a particular box of cereal for the week, we wanted that cheap toy! LoL I hated Trix and Fruit Loops, it tasted like over powered artificial chemical fruit to me.. but I’d choose them once in awhile for the toy inside the box and it had to be eaten before my mom would buy a box of anything else. 🤦🏻♀️ Different times, good memories. 👍🏼😊🥰🌻
Your play clothes were usually shorts or long pants and a top. School clothes were dresses. I think children are missing out in this country, because they spend too much time inside.
I believe they made the toys illegal as part of the "war on obesity" around 2012-ish. Just in time for my kids to miss out. I don't know how people are even getting their kids over weight. Mine are little wall climbing stick bugs, even though I'm cutting cheese and apples all day, going through a gallon of milk every two, can't keep yogurt in the house to save my life, biggest tub of peanut butter is attacked like they're at war with it, etc. Maybe I need to buy more cereal. 😂 I remember my grandmother making us wait until the toy "surfaced", and not dig our dirty fingers through the whole box looking for it. My sister and I ate so much trying to be the first to get it.
I watched an episode of a show called 'Psych' where the dad got the toy before his son. He turned the box upside down and opened the bottom. The toys always seemed to fall all the way down.@@ec4145
I live in the UK now, and I miss Honey Bunches of Oats so much! We have Frosted Flakes or Frosties here, though. I think they should have done Special K because it's different in the US and UK and is actually sweeter in the UK.
So nice that you donated to the school. I’ve been watching your videos since Max and Armand were young. They grew up basically on Jolly learning about Korean foods and culture. Oh and nice Buc ee’s shirt Olly!

@Mike-fd1lq all the cereals they had them eat are nutrionally garbage, but that wasn't point. The point was to have them try American Cereals and Frosty Flakes was and still is an American classic no matter how bad it is for you, that's why it's been around for like four decades, duh
I knew immediately which ones they’d like and the ones they’d hate cause honestly a lot of the cereals taste extremely artificial to us. I can only imagine what it would taste like to them!
Knew from the rip the kids would like classic Cap’n Crunch. Slightly sweet, buttery and crunchy. Peanut Butter Cap’n Crunch is the best imo of the Cap’n, but I can stand really sugary cereals anymore
@@jaegybombI think it’s more the chocolate. Many people here like peanut butter but your chocolate isn’t great compared to chocolate around Europe like (cadburys Milk chocolate, Belgium chocolate or Swiss chocolate). American sweets/chocolate tasted very artificial to what we are used too.
That's terrifying that he said the cereals couldn't be sold over there from chemicals used in them but in America we have 56 ingredients in our fast-food chicken sandwiches truly scary stuff.
We have so many chemicals we use that are banned elsewhere, but a lot of Americans do not know this. I don't buy this junk for my kids. The ingredients will scare you.
In Europe & other countries manufacturers have to prove an ingredient is not harmful versus the USA where someone else has to prove that it is harmful, but even then it's rare that ingredients are actually banned.
Uk won’t do food deals with America 🇺🇸 you’re government puts chlorine in your meat and preserves to make your milk and bread last longer ! You should protest against it apparently it’s causing cancer ! 🏴
Artificial ingredients aren't created by magic. They are just combinations of natural materials. Plutonium is more 'natural' than xanthum gum for example, but one is a lot safer than the other.
It really makes me realize how ruined my tastebuds are as an American when people from other countries try our food and comment on how processed, artificial, sweet, and terrible it is lmao 😭 I actually noticed it myself when having Heinz tomato soup from the U.K. It actually tastes like tomato, unlike the Campbell’s tomato soup we have here. Wow, that’s actually a really cool thesis/study area! Do you have any links to publishings you can share? Or generally any advice on particular preservatives to watch out for (esp. in the U.S)? I feel like we’re exposed to more food preservatives everyday, and it’s hard to buy family-safe foods since companies use lobbyists to work with the FDA to tout some chemicals as safe. There’s no proper independent research anymore it seems.
Sorry just following up, curious if you had anything on this?
turns your chromosomes tho?
@AliHassan-iq9gv It’s like they posted a comment & disappeared from the replies 😢 it’s been 3 weeks.. I don’t think we’re learning anything about food preservatives today boss 😔
So cereal additives in America really do mess up your DNA?
I grew up on Cocoa Pebbles, Apple Jacks, and classic Frosted Flakes. You all need to do a part 2. I bet the kids would love these.
This
add corn pops
Yes, Apple Jacks and Frosted flakes were a favorite of ours for a little while along with Sugar Corn Pops, and Sugar crisp cereals, those lasted a small amount of time at our home, then we went back to Cherrios, Cornflakes, Life Cereal, Raisin Bran and oatmeal the way mom prepared it for us.
Frosted Flake would likely be a hit. I doubt Cocoa Pebbles and Apple Jacks would work since it looks like the UK tastebuds don't like artificial cocoa and fruit flavours.
I agree with u 100%😊
I love that you all take care of the kids at the school! Fantastic!❤
Can you imagine eating cereals like Wheatabix and then trying our American chemistry experiments?
😂😂😂😂
Right?!? Or Muesli?😭
UK is obviously pumping out some very classy children. Love watching how these kids carry themselves.
Yes. Discipline and uniforms are the answer
Love how Im doubting myself about where on the seriousness-spectrum this statement falls.😂

I was a little surprised by their reaction with Trix and Froot Loops. But after they mentioned that they didn't have artificial fruit flavored cereal over there, I guess it makes sense.
I was thinking to myself how they just haven't tried fruity pebbles yet, so so good
As an american i honestly can’t stand them either
I'm an American, and 10 in 5th grade and I can say even they are too sweet for me. But I love Reese's!
I'm a Brit. I'd never eat that artificial stuff.
@@TheLovelyxFrrogo To each their own I suppose. I barely got to eat that kind of cereal as a kid, so I would have to buy my own box when I got older. It's been a long while so not sure how I would feel about them now, but I used to love to eat them on occasion in my younger days.
These kids got the best type of principal (headmaster) dudes got a sense of humor and not stuck up at all.
Cinnamon Toast Crunch is a favorite in our house. I'm not surprised the boys liked it so much. It's good without milk and just as a snack.
It's my fave. I'm almost 56 and still eat it!
My kids favorite!
Delicious and French Toast Crunch are amazing also.
We have them in the UK. I'm not sure if they taste slightly different, but they're called Curiously Cinnamon (used to be Cinnamon Grahams). I sometimes get the Aldi knockoff Cinnamon Chips.
I loveeee eating them with warm milk , it is the best
I absolutely love watching these young men trying American foods. As an American I find them adorable.
Cinnamon Toast Crunch is ridiculously addictive, the best tasting cereal of all time
I bought it for my son once and he found it too sweet, I finished it as I don't waste my money but I'll never buy it lol.
Nope. But it's not bad.
I can eat it straight out of the box it’s so good
French toast crunch is good too
When I used to eat cereal, I put slices of bananas in my CTC. It was sooo good! Love that combo. You should try it if you haven't.
Ha ha! I'm old enough to have been a kid when Cap'n Crunch came out in the 70s and the kid who said it's so crunchy it cuts your mouth...Nailed it. We always used say to our friends the Cap'n so good he cut up the roof of my mouth this morning!
The teacher/principle guy seems super cool. Kids are lucky to have such a chill teacher
Nah
He used to be my RS teacher. An amazing guy who believes a lot in his students.
Can’t explain how happy it makes me to see these British teens and their headmaster sampling American fare. All their videos are awesome.
I loved Fruit Loops as a kid. Hadn’t had them in over 30 years, but a hotel we were staying in had them in their breakfast buffet. I ate four bowls, was SO happy. And I was hungry again two hours later, because of course, there is virtually nothing good in them. 😂
I love watching these young men. They are polite and well spoken. True gentlemen.
they brought back the "never tasted honey before" kid and fed him artificial flavored sweet american cereals. what could possibly go wrong? 😂
Another kid never had nuts.
😂😂😂
@@thesupervideogamenerdmore3171that's nuts!
No, that's a kid.
@@stealthis Nuts are very common maybe personal choice
I wish they had also had them try some of our cereals that aren't so sweet: Cheerios, Honey-Nut Cheerios, Rice Krispies, Kiks even Wheaties. We don't all eat overly-sugared varieties.
Bro every country has those cereals because they’re the ones don’t use illegal amounts of sugar. They’d just be trying the cereal they eat every day
Yeh we already have those I'm guessing your Wheaties are the same as our shreddies that's why they gave them these cos we don't get them over here
Honey nut still is very high sugar but I have to say it’s my favorite. I don’t eat grains or carbs an last time I had captain crunch I was 10 lol mom never had that stuff in the house only once in a while
we have those
Raisin Bran yum!
Cinnamon Toast Crunch gang Woop Woop! Remember those insane commericals XD
I've had Curiously Cinnamon (UK version) and Cinnamon Toast Crunch, both slap but the UK is better. Less sugary
THIS!!!! It's a nice mild flavor, the only "fruity" cereal I like.
@@MrGrandeflipperHeck ya
Of all of the flavoured cereals, I think this was one of the least overpowering, and it always seemed less sweet. Thanks for mentioning it - it's been literally decades since I've even thought of it!
Oh I forgot about Apple Jacks 👍
reading “smells like saturday morning cartoons” immediately brought back that apple jacks and fruit loops smell that I remembered oh my god… thank you cuz i totally forgot about that part of my childhood and it felt so warm and nice 😭😭
The donation at the end was great. Also great was Ollie wearing his Buc-ee's shirt! Admit it, Texas is the gift that stays with you.
I love the headmaster's energy. That's a good school
There needs to be a sequel. Frosted Mini Wheats, Cocoa Pebbles, Golden Grahams, Frosted Flakes, Life, Peanut Butter Cap'n Crunch, Cheerios, Raisin Bran Crunch...the kids might like some of these.
Especially Life... that is my go-to snack in a bowl of milk.
I never knew before but It seems like we have a lot of similar cereals in the UK as you have in the states. We don't have anything that looks like Life or Peanut Butter Cap'n Crunch, but the rest you mention we have, just sometimes under a slightly different name.
I'd add coco puffs, I actually prefer them to the pebbles since the pebbles get soggy so fast
Fruity pebbles too! I can't believe they subjected those poor kids to the regular captain crunch- it literally shreds the roof of your mouth 😟
And what about Cap'n Crunch with Crunchberries!
I knew they were going to find them too sweet, but when they were saying the Lucky Charms were too sweet, I knew we were in trouble, because that’s not a sweet American cereal lol
It is for me, that’s my favorite and it’s actually very sweet idk if it the marshmallows melt into the milk but it’s super sweet but sooo good
Yeah it is, it literally has fucking marshmellows in it
It's not that it's sweet, it just tastes *too* artificial and gross
It's basically the taste of sugar. Not sure how they're not too sweet.
unlike all of your replies, I agree that lucky charms are not high up in the sweetness scale. i remember wanting something different as a kid because the lucky charms werent sweet enough lol
Those kids were great. Their honesty about what they liked and disliked was refreshing. Twenty thousand pounds for the school? That's the cherry on top!
What if these black kid's ancestors hadn't come to the UK? They'd be in Africa eating mud and probably starving. Acting like they're too good for American food is just so annoying and funny
Your donations to the school are outstandingly generous!
I’ve just discovered this channel today and I can’t stop watching their videos. It’s really amazing to watch
What’s funny is the reason it’s called Froot Loops is because they can’t legally say it contains fruit flavors because it’s all artificial, still one of the most nostalgic cereals for me though😂
I don’t like fruit loops too much sugar for me I guess if you’re a child you’d love them 😂
And that’s why your unhealthy and the government won’t bann chemicals
I've never liked the fruity type cereals. Have you ever had the S'mores? So good.
@pattiwhite9575 General Mills figured out the world's secrets when they gave us Cinnamon Toast Crunch and French Toast Crunch. You are right, though, that Smores was amazing.
They changed the Fruit Loop recipe, not the same as it was in the 90s back then it was much better.
Oh my gosh, this is sooo much fun to watch! 😂
I’m 60 years old and these breakfast cereals have been around forever, I ate them myself. My biggest memory involving these sweet breakfast items is laying on a carpeted floor, belly down with my bowl of cereal in front of me on a Saturday morning and watching a show called Wonderama. I’m sure there are some folks in the comments here who are quite familiar.. and the ads that were featured were mostly toys.. and you guest it.. cereals! 😂
When the show was over I’d leave the house to meet up with my neighborhood friends where we’d ride bikes, play made up games or generally just mucked around all day.
Different times, good memories.
I remember my grandmother making us wait until the toy "surfaced", and not dig our dirty fingers through the whole box looking for it. My sister and I ate so much trying to be the first to get it.
I watched an episode of a show called 'Psych' where the dad got the toy before his son. He turned the box upside down and opened the bottom. The toys always seemed to fall all the way down.@@ec4145
They changed the cereal a whole lot since I was a kid and I’m 38 so I know they don’t taste like what your use too

Those kids hit the nail on the head! All are too sweet! I love your Bucees shirts BTW!
In my opinion "Fruity Pebbles" are an actually delicious artificially fruit flavored cereal.

Boo Berries!
I'm going to ruin fruity cereals for you forever by revealing that the only fruit flavor in ALL of them is just Lime.
@@THEGREATMAX .... you know thats what artificial means right? Most people know its not real fruit... this wasn't some gotcha moment for you lol
@@jacobg7655 No, I mean the only fruit flavor in there is lime. It's not a mix of a bunch of fruit flavors. All fruit cereals are JUST lime flavor.
They should do a part 2. Fruity pebbles, honey bunches of oats, cookie crisp, frosted flakes
I live in the UK now, and I miss Honey Bunches of Oats so much! We have Frosted Flakes or Frosties here, though. I think they should have done Special K because it's different in the US and UK and is actually sweeter in the UK.
Yesss… Cookie Crisp
I wonder why they always cast 1 black person? Just for inclusivity? Better cast all white guys
The best two cereals are Basic4 and Cinnamon Toast Crunch.

7:47 OMG Sebastian was longingly looking at that empty bowl, sad that it was all gone. 🤣🤣
This is a real testament to how being brought up without these flavors makes the kids dislike them. Yay!

You need to do the dichotomy of American cereal - it's the sugar bombs or it's sticks and twigs. I'm imagining the back-to-back of giving them Cocoa Puffs followed by Grape Nuts.
Both of which are phenomenal.
That's hilarious and somewhat cruel, I mean, grapenuts!
I had grape nuts when I was a kid, and to this day I'm not sure it if was dry cat food or not.

We have the same cereals over here, so it wouldn't be particularly unique
Frosted Flakes is absolute garbage that's why
@Mike-fd1lq all the cereals they had them eat are nutrionally garbage, but that wasn't point. The point was to have them try American Cereals and Frosty Flakes was and still is an American classic no matter how bad it is for you, that's why it's been around for like four decades, duh

Concerning that these cereals aren't sold in the UK. Make me rethink giving them to my kids.
These are so much fun to watch. Glad the school got a donation.
