I find that joy and play-fullness is not strictly related to being a certain age, but more related with the fact that most people in our global civilization , after a certain age, are put to monotonous and tiring work that they don't give a crap about for decades, and with no time to slow down the rate race, because their means of survival get threatened if they do. Such conditions totally 'break the spirit'.
The YT short about the caregiver setting up activities to stimulate the minds of the elderly in the nursing home is what come to mind with the 3yo grey program even in a moder warrior society our minds are meant to be creative and play
Your energy is infectious man, smiled throughout the whole video! I'm planning on trying out your build soon, wish me luck! Blessings to you and Crystal, awesome personalities on you both haha
Guys you should fill the hole with concrete above ground level, when it rain it will fill up with water and rot the timber out and you will have to replace the pole earlier than you would
Cosimo Dichiera aren't you also supposed to put this deep into the ground? Like 1/3 of the post in the ground right? my gate posts are three feet in the ground and six feet above.
With as much stress that you were putting on that bar, jumping, leaping , doing muscle ups you should consider drilling through the posts and putting the brackets on the outside to provide much more support and reduce the chance of shearing those bolts or screws off after regular use.
@@Xentrick I tried this with my pressure treated 4x4 10 foot posts.. sad to say they started to splinter before I could even put them in the ground. These 6x6 might not spinter that easy but that past experience was a major put off... So I got new 6x6s and will just use 5 inch screws to make sure its embedded deep. Plus if something goes wrong, you can always lower the bar/flange position a bit
Where can I get me a Derek?!! Crystal with her adorable laugh! I love this channel. I bought a power tower years ago, couldn't do one pull up on it and took it down before I moved. During quarantine I put it back together, been working on my upper body fitness and am doing more and more pull ups each workout!
Like a kid with a new toy. This is awesome. You did a great job. Your hard work paid off. Congratulations on a job well done my friend. Crystal was a great help. She's always so energized. You two are a good pair.
OMG. I am excited because of the 6x6 posts. I have two 12' long 6x6 logs holding up my shed that I was about to get rid of. Maybe I can build me a nice pull-up bar 2.0. Thanks for randomly helping me, more than you realize, yet again.
This was the best video I've seen in quite sometime. Thank you for the entertainment and thank you for the education. I have been looking into the benefits of hanging and have thought about building a pull up bar outside. This was my sign!
So happy to see your channel continue to thrive and grow! I'm sure you get this all the time, but I've been watching your vids pretty much from the beginning. You've inspired me in so many ways over the years, but 3 things stick out especially (and you say 1 in this video!): 1)"Stay ready so you don't have to get ready" 2) "Put your shoes on; once you have your shoes on it's hard to make an excuse not to get out of the house (to move your body)" and 3) "down and back", in reference to shoulder posture. Thanks for all you and Crystal do ❤️
Ohhh so inspiring! I would love to add a bar to my kids play set so we can all play outside together. Working on a healthy and active playful lifestyle.
I never premix mud in a bucket. Works great just added to water in a hole. Cute idea on the bird bath but I'm guessing it draws a lot of mosquitoes, eh? Excellent job on the project. Looking forward to doing this same design this next Spring!
No mosquitos! I spray the water out and change it like every week. I also don’t really do it anymore because we have cats so it’s not really fair to the birds to lure them in. 😆 Good luck with the project!
I am using your blueprint for my new backyard bar, thanks Derek! Also, I'm definitely dumping the bag of concrete in the hole to set the post... if I were making a beautiful walkway I would premix it.
Great job guys! Looks fantastic! Quick concrete mixing tip, add a little sharp sand & a squirt of washing up liquid to the mixture. Also, you could try using a wheelbarrow instead of a bucket, makes bigger batches & it’s tons easier to manoeuvre to where the mix is needed.
They probably don't have a wheelbarrow but from my limited experience mixing concrete with my dad back in the day, mixing with a shovel in a wheelbarrow was pretty easy for small quantities (fence posts).
I have always been a silent viewer, but I had to comment now because your channel helped me achieve my weight loss goal of 145 pounds lost in 30 months. I now have a new life & feel the best I have ever felt health wise in my life. You & Crystal inspired me to do a 180 with my eating habits, and I love the good energy & attitudes you both have, thank you.
You can also add one more post on each side of the bar, facing the trampoline or the opposite side to make the bar wabble even less. Then you can screw those together and it won't ever move again. That's what I did in my backyard and even freestyle won't make the bar move a single bit
So I know my husband will appreciate you mixing the concrete lol! He built fence (multiple companies within his family) for like 15 years and one thing he always hated was mixing, but it ultimately holds for much longer so it's worth it! Also, we plan on building a pull up bar (inspired by you) and we are making a mini one for our 19 month old daughter! Lastly, love the bird bath, such an innovative way to use extra materials!
Thanks for posting this awesome instructional video. I'm sick and tired of trying to use janky doorway pull-up bars. Even the expensive ones aren't very safe or effective, and if it isn't enjoyable, I'm less likely to do them as often. Also, the doorway pull-up bars restrict movement and make it difficult to hang, get full extension, and make it impossible to do muscle-ups. So I'm going to try this outdoor build. It looks very expensive, but will probably be worth it! Good video, appreciate it man!
i have almost the same workout setup in the garden . My dad helped me with doing it. its made from welded galvanized pipes + Dips bar . I love working out in garden . I have big military bag which serves as weightlifting belt where i just put bricks :D . Greetings from poland
Never mind I’d say for what you do the 6x6s are a good idea. Your pull-up bar is gonna be awesome though its hulk ready awesome job And thats the perfect knife for concrete work
Nice and should last a long time.. I recently build my own garden gym.. Had fun with the cementing and yeah It was a workout in itself .. I had to make a flat concrete surface so I could put a power cage. Aslo cemented slabs for a jumping rope and have heavy bag..👍👌
Reminded me of strapping a 16 ft long cattle panel to the roof of my Blazer a couple days ago to make a garden trellis. Sketchy but got the job done. 💪🌱
Love your new set up, you inspired me to build mine. Luckily my hubby is very handy and built it, although I'm yet to do a pull up 😢 lol. I did share on FB and you left a kind comment along with other members ❤️ x
😂 First time I didn’t learn anything which I will use in my own life (I will never build a pull-up bar) but I watched it to the end because it was fun!!! 👍
A concrete hack for you: You can put the dry mix in the ground and water the ground it if you're not in a hurry to have it set. But no mixing required. Did this trick for a playground for my niece and nephew and it worked great!
I love how even as an adult you haven't lost the joy and play-fullness in life that is usually lost with youth!!!
I wish I could marry a cute, fun, straight guy like him. I dont like the fem gays.
I find that joy and play-fullness is not strictly related to being a certain age, but more related with the fact that most people in our global civilization , after a certain age, are put to monotonous and tiring work that they don't give a crap about for decades, and with no time to slow down the rate race, because their means of survival get threatened if they do. yep, reminds me of my childhood best friend.

Same dude his vibe is amazing, I was happy the entire video
That bird bath and picnic table is the cutest thing I've ever seen. If I was a little animal I would love that lol 🥰
Guys you should fill the hole with concrete above ground level, when it rain it will fill up with water and rot the timber out and you will have to replace the pole earlier than you would
Or dirt

I don't think I'd spend my entire lunch break watching anyone else install some posts into the ground except Derek and Crystal.

yes! that would be amazing.
No more squeaks! Very cool! I build fences and decks for my day job so I know what it’s like lugging concrete around and digging holes. 💪🏻🌱
oh man, thats a tough job. I have built a few fences in my life and it's tiring work. Even putting just these two posts in took a few hours lol.
The bird bath is incredible, my girlfriend and I thought it was so great! Ha glad you got a new bar set up brother.
Thanks David!
You always make me laugh, not at you, just with you. You are such blessing, both of you. Crystal, I love your laugh!😊
Wow I'm impressed!
I need me a doer like Derek 👍
Can't wait for Derek's home renovations series! 😂
oh goodness hopefully when we buy our own house it doesn't need much work. lol
Sweet stuff man, a grown-up 8-year-old man. I am enjoying your joy.
I love that you consider and care about your wildlife. I wish more people did that bit extra like you do. Thank you.
I just love the dynamic between the both of you.
Oh how cute, the little squirrel actually sitting at the picnic table! Love the bird bath too. Great job on the pull up bar. ✨

Derek and Crystal, you guys are awesome!!💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼
I remember the bamboo bar. 🤣😂 How cute is the squirrel picnic table. You should send one to Anji of happy healthy vegan. ❤️💐🤗

That's the video I was looking for! I'm 250lb and use additional weights during workout. So I need smth really robust. Great job! Thanks

Classic Simnett style. This is the stuff we know and love 👍
OMG! I love the squirrel picnic table!!!! :)
Hope the new pull up bar lasts for a looong time! The little picnic table and the pond are sooo cute! Loved how the squirrel sits on it ^^
Simnett is my hero for multiple reasons.

Thanks Joe!
Definitely a better upgrade for the all purpose pull up bar! Great job Derek!
The picnic table and bird bath is so cute. What a great summer you guys have had.

You have always good ideas Derek, I love that pullup bar and the trampoline! 👍
Never thought watching someone build a pull-up bar would be so much fun
Thanks for the good ideas, I’m just building a mini half pipe/ swimming pool for the little one, I think I’ll do a pull-up bar and a bird bath myself!
You two are so adorable! Love the new bar and 🐦 bath!

Love the upgraded bar, way to go man! Also that bird bath is so cuuuuute. Have a lovely weekend man!
What a fun video! Look like y'all had a blast.

hah amazing!
I love watching you! You are a lot of fun.
Absolutely love all of this! We are house shopping now & I totally want us to recreate that set up! Especially, the picnic area 😍
Crystals laugh makes me laugh, i love it.
You can use a rock bar to break up the old concrete. Great video, thanks for posting!! =)
Inspiring bro, I'm gonna make one and a mini one for the kids, thanks for the tips! Love the squirrel table too lol
The new bar is awesome and the bird pool is so cute!
Really great job and love how y'all interact and preserve/promote nature
Love your new set up, you inspired me to build mine. Luckily my hubby is very handy and built it, although I'm yet to do a pull up 😢 lol. I did share on FB and you left a kind comment along with other members ❤️ x
The best thing I enjoyed in your video is your gf's laugh 😂❤️god bless..
That bird pool is awesome ❤️
But you should put some wire inside the concrete because with time it will crack and all the water will go away.🤗
😂 First time I didn’t learn anything which I will use in my own life (I will never build a pull-up bar) but I watched it to the end because it was fun!!! 👍
This was so fun to watch, you two are hilarious
Thanks for helping me realize I should just do it right the first time... Lol.
Great video Derek! Always love your positivity!!
The positive energy you both exude is infectious. I really want to develop more of that in myself. Keep it up!
One of your best videos, much love to you both, the bird bath and squirrel picnic table are sooooo cute 🌱🥰
I always love your videos. They're full of fun and useful information and help me laugh when I'm having a bad day. Thank you, love to you both ❤😊
Damn it, Derek, you guys are both so damn wholesome!!! You guys are the best
