Jarrod, this totally helped man. I couldn’t for the life of me figure out why my tone was weird with the cab section “off” and running studio profiles. I can’t wait to try Direct profiles and see the difference. Thanks man!
Your DI profiles capture the preamp and power amp section of your amplifier. If using the return of your amp better results will be obtained by profiling just the amps preamp. This way its not Profile(Pre and Power amps) into amp Return(Pre and Power amp into Power amp).
Great Video! Any chance you could help the community and show how you connect, gear you use and how to make these direct profiles. That would be a video I believe a lot of people would be interested in. Watch you guy's every week. Love the video's, really enjoyed the VH vid's. Real heart
Finally a good comparison for this! Nice job
Thank you very much! I've been wanting to do this for a while and I finally got the opportunity
Always do that with my kemper, sounds thousand Times better !
And in this vid, i liked the kemper better than the Real amp... Interesting
Absolute agree with that! DI profile and use Ir of your cab give a better result 🙂
well done, nice video, nice profile! The truth is that I use many times studio profiles and change the cab with one of mine..I don't know if it has something bad..I could send you a sample to tell me. I think it sounds great but I am always cautious
Thanks Jarrod,
Finally a video hearing the true comparison of D.I, real & studio w/cab off...The Kemper can't differ where in the profiled signal chain amp head ends & the cab/mics begin...I like using D.I to real cabs & add my own IRs for studio or merged profiles for "Front of house/ PA"....Again Thanks for your time...
Thank you so much for commenting and for watching. And you are absolutely correct. The Kemper cannot tell where in the signal chain things end and begin. So it captures all of it. When were you removed one element, everything is kind of weird sounding.
I was happy to do this experiment for everyone so that they could make better decisions down the road and have the best tone possible
What would be great showing how you make direct profile. Your entire process in detail. You do such a great job explaining. That would probably go viral. Love your videos and your live shows.
Thank you. I'll see what I can do
Perfect!
Great shootout! Maybe add one more involving a merged profile with the cab off?
Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed it. I have yet to do a merged profile. Once I figured that out, I will do another comparison video
can you please make a video on how to make a profile with the Kemper Stage step by step cables and everything Thank you
Do you have a video on How to create a DI profile ? I could really use some help
All right, thanks for the video!
But, does that mean that I can't use my studio profiles anymore...by using the Kemper together with a power amp and guitar cap? Even if I turn of the cabinet-section...???
Very informative, many thanks. One question, If you are running a di profile into a power amp and cab I assume you don't need the amp particularly loud to get a good result?
Glad you liked the video. Regarding your question, I have the amplifiers pretty loud when I profile them so I make sure I get all of the mojo out of them.
That said, they're not cranked super loud but just a good practice volume when I profile them.
I don't know anything about this stuff. ill watch it all the way through, like, and leave a comment for the algorithm though.
the studio profile sounded like it had phase issues btw. thats just what i heard.
@@AndrewStonerock thanks for commenting. Yeah that's kind of what happens. A lot of people are using these for direct profiles and they don't work. I did this episode to try to tell people not to do this. Because they don't sound good
@@AndrewStonerock studio profile sound amazing by themselves but when you delete the cab Sim and run it through a real amp and cab they sound really weird
Thanks for this video. I have a different question. When you do di profile to kemper, real amp setting effects it? For example you do 2 di profil 1st amp setting 8 treble 5 mid 2 bass. 2nd amp setting is 4 treble 10 mid 10 bass. So 2 DI profile will be different to each other?
Yes all of the amp settings will change the profile each time
@@TONEWARSgearshow Thank You :)
Alrighty but whsy do you use when goinh direct? And how doed yhst sound compared to these 3?
Thanks for commenting. I'm sorry, I don't understand your question. Please explain?
How do you run the Kemper through the power section?
Run the main out from the Kemper into the return of the amplifier
How do you make a DI Profile ?
Buy the Kemper DI box.
As you had everything set up and made two identical profiles why not use the Merge feature to accurately remove the Cabinet from the Studio profile. This should give the best of both worlds. A true DI profile for onstage monitors and a true Studio profile for FOH. If you use a DI profile with a Cab from another Studio profile you have the same “problem” in reverse. FOH are getting a Cab that the Kemper has had to guess.
Thanks for commenting and sharing your insight. Honestly, I've never done a merged profile pack yet. I will be working on that in the future. from what I've read, merged profiles are becoming less and less popular. Maybe I'm wrong?
TONE WARS i’m not aware that merged profiles are becoming less popular. The concept is simply that you literally subtract the Direct Amp from the Studio profile which leaves only the Cabinet. Basically you create an amp profile and a speaker IR so that you can then turn the true speaker on and off independently without the KPA having to guess where they crossover.
@@glasgowguitarist3636 it's definitely a great concept. When I get a chance, I will look into this some more. I've just been reading in certain groups that they're becoming less popular. Maybe it's just the opinion of some people but not most. Thank you so much for your insight here. It's definitely worth looking into
So indeed my favorite profiles are the merged, they sound and work better, there is a pack with merged from a guy that is unbeatable and I cant understand why not everyone making merged pack?
@@georgezorbas9036 thanks for commenting. I might have to try some of these out. Which guy are you referring to? I will look into these. Thank you
