I shoot in Natural with everything around -3 except for saturation which I do -2. You do gain some dynamic range a bit with a flatter profile, but I don't change the way I shoot. As long as I'm not clipping the highlights things are usually good 👍🏼

Nolan Gunn it’s a good camera tbh. With the colour grade that I do it’s perfect because I’ve realised there’s still a lot of detail after grading. However for lowlight it isn’t as good. Hopefully I’ll be getting a sigma 18-35 1.8 so that should help a ton.
Really great insights. It makes a lot of sense that you buy the G85 now, with an upgrade plan to the Gh5 down the road. Very wise to give yourself an upgrade "roadmap", since its not feasible to buy everything at once. I'm looking at the G85 for my travel videos, currently I use a GoPro, a Mavic Air, and a Nikon d5300 which is an awesome stills camera, but not so great for video.
I appreciate that! Yeah roadmapping and planning isn't that glamourous but it really helps a lot. That sounds like a great kit, especially for travel! I'm sure the G85 would serve you well.

I'll be buying 3 of these G85's for a podcast studio setup for the cheap price and continuous video recording. Always need to outweigh the options and if the extra money is worth for your work flow. A lot of these reasons is why I bought the Fujifilm X-H2s for $2500 as my main camera. The 6.2K video, IBIS, 7 custom functions, etc...
@@NolanGunn Yeah for sure! Quick question. Our Podcast room is a little tight and the Micro 4/3 sensor has a significant crop. What wide angle (non fish eye) lens would you recommend for the Lumix Micro 4/3 system?
Nolan! You are delivering some amazing content. Keep up the good work. I'm currently shooting on a Sony A7S. I'm looking to upgrade to a later model soon considering this one doesn't even shoot 60fps at 1080 lol! That G85 looks like a winner though.

I Purchased the G7 as it is my First Camera but I will buy the G85 as I love that Dual IOS and it can still use the same lens as my G7, WHICH is AWESOME., but yeah i Want a Second Camera I can use when Doing Unboxings and vloggs.
Nice video Nolan. You mentioned you do wedding videos. I heard that the autofocus is not so good on the Panasonic cameras. How do you get around the autofocus problems when you shoot a wedding? Do you have the AF in single point, or do you just shoot in manual? Also incidentally what do you think of the Canon 80D/M50 video quality with it's dual pixel technology compared to the G85?
Thanks David! So I shoot everything in manual. I've used some of canons bodies and the dual pixel is world's apart from the G85. If autofocus is important to you in any way, go with Canon or Sony.
Hi there Nolan! I have two issues with the G7: I can't monitor audio (there's no audio output) and I can't monitor image via HDMI while recording video. Can the g85 do this?
I'm troubleing because of a question What gimbal will perfect for g85? everything working properly My choice is weebill s Can I use it? Pls reply it will be my life saver❤️
If you have the G85 with a pretty light lens, then the Zhiyun crane V2 could be a great option (or regular crane). I don't have experience with either, but for a compact setup, those are great options. Otherwise I would wait and get the Ronin s.
I bought the g85, in addition to my g7, just for the IBIS. However, when I’m using a non-Panasonic manual lens such as the Mitakon 25mm f0.95 with IBIS on, I notice some weird stuff. I can be sitting pretty still handheld and IBIS looks nice. But when I start to pan, it seems to “jump” into the movement, like a quick jerk. Have you experienced this?
Welp.. right when I saw your reply, I remembered that when I tried to update the firmware, I couldn’t get it to work.. but then I remembered that I never formatted the SD Card first. So I upgraded the firmware from 1.0 to 1.3, which I definitely should have remembered to do because this fixed the issue big time! Now, quick follow up question.. do you also have the e-stabilization setting turned on? There’s the “operation mode” and e stabilization. Thanks for reminding me about the firmware.
No problem jimmy! So I don't usually use the e stabilization as it's basically digital stabilization. It's helpful if youre not doing much editing, but I don't normally use it
Excellent review! Thank you! I’m going to pick up one of these used. I don’t know crap about cameras. Yep! Newer version is here! It has the same sensor as the GH5 without some of the pro video features. I'll be sharing the top settings in a video soon!
Thanks I really appreciate that! Yeah the value is ridiculously good for what you get 👌 but the autofocus isn't up to par with a Canon or sony for sure. @Nolan Gunn Great video, I really love my G80. For video, I'm used to not so good AF. My workaround is to use AF to initialyl focus then switch to MF. Only thing I'm missing is 120fps in 1080. Other than that, it's really good camera, everything else is gear lust :) BTW, I saw several your videos, and I wish to start in weddings like you. Only thing holding me back is fear of not having backup camera/2nd angle. How do you deal with that?
Hey thanks! I really appreciate that! I actually do the same thing with quick AF (the button on the touchscreen) to set focus and then switch to manual too. I would definitely try to have a second camera. One option is buy a really cheap B cam (maybe a used gh3) or book a wedding and use the initial retainer fee to rent the gear for the day until you can save enough for another camera 👌 good luck!
