I honestly think there's nothing wrong with throwing down some extra turrets if you're not a GM player. They just cost like 1.5 marines. And the amount of air harass happening in most games make it so that if you're not able to identify that it's coming, it's better to waste the minerals to have it than to not have them when you need them. You're way better off improving your macro and micro than cutting some corners like that. Pig: "Why do players keep building silver league turrets?!?!??" Pig 2 minutes later: "And the turret is zoning out the medivac!" "And the liberator goes down to the silver league turrets!"
I think this is why people have such a hard time getting off silver league turrets - they see them "working" not realising there are far more efficient ways of achieving the same effect. But still, a win is a win. Better random turrets than no AA or detection at all.
i build my turrets like this , i only started playing a few weeks ago. Its because one of my first ever loss was to a liberator behind my mineral line, but now i know i can put them further out as long as i cover the sneaky map edges. great advice
Maybe a hot take, but I also don't mind building a few extra spores. Sure, with proper micron it's not needed and I can simply move my queens between bases. But while that saves minerals, it costs attention and APM. Building an extra spore or two when you know the enemy is going air just shuts all that harass down immediately, so I can focus of my macro. I usually build a turret or two behind mineral line if I scouted an incoming lib harrassment and I have no viking. What is so hard for this guy to understand, the game isn't over until the score screen appears. There's always room for your opponents comeback when you're bad.
The thing with silver league turrets though. At this level when you have no eco, no production or both there's several things that happen. Drops fly through the turrets. This wouldn't be an issue if you had 5 rax and 2 factories making reinforcements or had army positioned close enough. On this level neither of these are true. Turrets are also badly placed so banshees and libs tend to find gaps through. So yeah, while generally a terrible idea, there is a reason why people build those silver league turrets. That being said, there's no explanation for game 2 especially. My god.
As i've started getting slightly better I realized one point of obstacle for me was getting up the starports and dealing with air. That third step I would often forget. It is easier and more comfortable to just put up turrets and hope they can deal with flying units without your APM. Unfortunately it sucks as a strat
Isn't it amazing how people who value their own time so much they'll get abusive towards another human often go on to waste their own time? If I was Pudgy I'd probably let him float his barracks til the draw timer popped up, just to assert dominance...
It's so good, that you do this series. When I got BM'd in the lower leagues, it totally put me off the game (not knowing that it gets better after leaving the lower "danger zone".)
Even then it's exactly as PiG says: Those who are lacking in-game skills require the use of additional meta-game skills to compensate. Someone who can't build workers and units reliably or can't stick to a build order has to try and trigger or tilt you in order to win because they can't beat you in a straight-up fight.

My god.
"A well mannered player would gg when losing." Doesn't gg.
"Check your mom's house" bahahahaha that made this super painful to watch second game worth it
This was the best episode of Salt mines!!
12:14 how poetic that Sneaky's nickname turned red LMAO
An hour long salt Mines 😁yes please Mr. PiG
I enjoy how PiG mocks the silver league turrets every time they are built, and every. single. time. they come into play and do something useful.
That game had me on the edge of my seat XD
the level of cope from sneakyturtle was radioactive
This kind of battles are gold! Its good watch pro players, but this is amazing!
I wanted to see the final vehicle factory get cornered with mass turrets as the final insult.
LOL
As i've started getting slightly better I realized one point of obstacle for me was getting up the starports and dealing with air. That third step I would often forget. It is easier and more comfortable to just put up turrets and hope they can deal with flying units without your APM. Unfortunately it sucks as a strat
The turretomania was hilarious:)
"Don't binge too many of them"
Well, I only have like 5 left, might as well finish today.
Props to Sneakyturtle corp just giving out jobs and money without asking for anything in exchange
Best Salt Mine ever...so satisfying!
Isn't it amazing how people who value their own time so much they'll get abusive towards another human often go on to waste their own time? If I was Pudgy I'd probably let him float his barracks til the draw timer popped up, just to assert dominance...
Holy hell that dude really hates queer people. It was very satisfying to both see him lose, and to see poultry call him out for it.
"You have no idea how this game is played!" That was the best comment!
Near the end PiG was like this is madness
Me: nah, this is Salt Mine
I binge for the humor in it all.
Pudge poultry didn't even really turtle. He had no planetaries until he expanded.
These videos never miss, love it as always!
SneakyTurtle is a euphemism for a flasher poking his head out in the back of a grocery store?
I've seen all the salt mines so far, i'm halfway through this video and my brain actually hurts...send help!
Enjoyed this one a lot. Still waiting for the day when you update the Florencio Files playlist.
I died with the "justice stiffy"
It was true, too! I did have a justice stiffy!
