      I hope folks like SneakyTurtle see these videos and realize that they're not the hero of anyone's story, even their own, because they are full of self-loathing that they project onto others.

      @Tawnos_ I think about stuff like that as well. Like I wonder if people like sneaky can look back at an experience like this and realize that unlike him calling pudgy a "f*****", pudgy was not throwing an empty insult by calling him homophobic, he was making a genuine observation that he is a terrible human being. But I think not, I don't think anyone makes its decades into life acting like this, and have a sudden revelation because they watch a UA-cam video where it is universally agreed they are a disgusting person. They will usually just lie to themselves that people are conspiring against them, and that they are still in the right.

      @@135791max I've got a good friend named Max who makes similarly astute observations. You're spot-on, despite the fact it makes me sad that so few people have the self-reflection to say "I was wrong and frustrated and am seeking help to get better."

      I honestly think there's nothing wrong with throwing down some extra turrets if you're not a GM player. They just cost like 1.5 marines. And the amount of air harass happening in most games make it so that if you're not able to identify that it's coming, it's better to waste the minerals to have it than to not have them when you need them. You're way better off improving your macro and micro than cutting some corners like that. Unless you're in GM you're not in a situation where those couple of marines difference of minerals is going to be what decided who won. I think some dude made it to Master just spamming hellions to showcase how important macro is, lol. When you get good enough to reliably scout (and understand what you're scouting) when enemy air is going to come, that's when you can start cutting corners and only build them when necessary.

      Exactly, the reason the pro's tap out of games is not because they are well mannered, they recognize that the other player is SKILLED enough to efficiently and quickly put the game to an end from this point(though even pro's sometimes give up too quickly).

  • @ArdenMagnum
    @ArdenMagnum Рік тому +6

    Somehow, this was the most tense pair of SC2 games I've ever watched. The whole second game had me in white-knuckled anxiety, rooting for Pudgypoultry to overcome that deranged bag of hammers. Maybe I was just projecting my younger self onto Pudgy, especially after PiG's comments about remembering what it's like to be new to RTS games. I certainly remember being this new and running into people like SneakyTurtle online, but I was never able to overcome them.
    Pudgy though, they grit their teeth, focused on the game instead of the chat, and then Florencio-style drilled a hole in Turtle's shell and filled it with leeches--man, it's a kind of justice my kid self never got. It's incredibly cathartic, and I'm so damn glad Pudgypoultry came out on top and got to lay out those spicy retorts at the end. Pudgy's got my respect and my gratitude for weathering through, and my best wishes on their climb up the ladder.
    Despite all that however, I hope SneakyTurtle gets some help or something because holy shit--there's tasty salt, and then there's unrestrained psychopathic hatred. This ain't the world championships, there's nothing on the line here except your time and whatever ego you put on display. Death threats over two lost matches in a game that's nearly 13 years old is beyond extreme.

    • @neomone1989
      @neomone1989 Рік тому +19

      I think this is why people have such a hard time getting off silver league turrets - they see them "working" not realising there are far more efficient ways of achieving the same effect. But still, a win is a win. Better random turrets than no AA or detection at all.

    • @Robothuck
      @Robothuck Рік тому +8

      i build my turrets like this , i only started playing a few weeks ago. Its because one of my first ever loss was to a liberator behind my mineral line, but now i know i can put them further out as long as i cover the sneaky map edges. great advice

    • @Niosus
      @Niosus Рік тому +6

      Maybe a hot take, but I also don't mind building a few extra spores. Sure, with proper micron it's not needed and I can simply move my queens between bases. But while that saves minerals, it costs attention and APM. Building an extra spore or two when you know the enemy is going air just shuts all that harass down immediately, so I can focus of my macro. Even in diamond you'll see people fly in once or twice to probe for a weakness, and then just stop trying at all.
      Not everyone plays to reach GM. This may suck against a GM, but I'm happy doing it in diamond.

    • @masktuxedo77
      @masktuxedo77 Рік тому

      I usually build a turret or two behind mineral line if I scouted an incoming lib harrassment and I have no viking. The reason is Im not sure if the turret in the mineral line would reach them if the siege from behind. And at my level the reaction time is quite slow that I would lose at least 5 - 6 before I have time to evacuate. Against muta or banshee I do build a turret or two in the mineral line instead.

    • @sillyking1991
      @sillyking1991 Рік тому

      to be fair, he isn't entirely wrong. there is a certain level on the ladder where it genuinely considered bad mannered to stay in the game if things went as badly as they did for poultry there at the beginning of the second game. *but* thats because by staying in you're essentially implying that your opponent doesn't have the skill to go for the throat and finish you off.
      that said when your opponent shows that they're not really fond of...finishing you off when they have the chance then there's no reason to give them that credit. Love it when people whine about "how the game is played" without actually understanding *why* its played that way. good stuff. (not referring to you, im talking about turtle. just to be clear)
      and obviously in the frist game there was only one brief moment where turtle had the opportunity to win, and that was right after he broken the entrance to poultry's base...and then just took his army home. once he decided to leave he was behind...because poultry was way ahead on economy.

    What is so hard for this guy to understand, the game isn't over until the score screen appears. There's always room for your opponents comeback when you're bad.

    The thing with silver league turrets though. At this level when you have no eco, no production or both there's several things that happen. Drops fly through the turrets. This wouldn't be an issue if you had 5 rax and 2 factories making reinforcements or had army positioned close enough. On this level neither of these are true. Turrets are also badly placed so banshees and libs tend to find gaps through. So yeah, while generally a terrible idea, there is a reason why people build those silver league turrets.
    That being said, there's no explanation for game 2 especially. My god.

    As i've started getting slightly better I realized one point of obstacle for me was getting up the starports and dealing with air. That third step I would often forget. It is easier and more comfortable to just put up turrets and hope they can deal with flying units without your APM. Unfortunately it sucks as a strat

    Isn't it amazing how people who value their own time so much they'll get abusive towards another human often go on to waste their own time? If I was Pudgy I'd probably let him float his barracks til the draw timer popped up, just to assert dominance...

      Even then it's exactly as PiG says: Those who are lacking in-game skills require the use of additional meta-game skills to compensate. Someone who can't build workers and units reliably or can't stick to a build order has to try and trigger or tilt you in order to win because they can't beat you in a straight-up fight.
