Lore drop! In-universe, the Crucio Siege Tank was the replacement for the Arclite Siege Tank from SC1. So yes, in SC1 they were called Arclite cannons.
I guess Swann saying "These new seige tanks are just like the old ones" makes sence then
Arclites were phased out because they apparently did too much friendly fire. The Crucio, though designed to have 'smart charges' that minimise friendly fire, are still so bad that Dominion marines are convinced Siege Tanks do more damage to their own forces than the enemy.
@@rozmarinideas5340 i thought it was because the arclites just didn't hit hard enough. As in, crucio ones have like 50% greater splash radius or something ridiculous like that. Smart shells, whilst developed and sometimes used, are prohibitably expensive and thus aren't common enough for the average marine to get not killed by one.
@@rozmarinideas5340 it's actually mostly the Crucio that has the reputation for friendly fire. as far as i am aware, there is no straight-up firepower or effectiveness reasons why the Crucio replaced the Arclite. instead, most of the Crucio's improvements were made with largely in-universe reasons behind it.
for example the Crucio cannon is technically still two barrels like the Arclite, but heavily reinforced in the center, which greatly improves the cannon's lifespan. it also has a quick and automated replacement system for replacing broken tread segments, and the new way it transforms can take much more punishment from the artillery cannon firing before the tank needs to be serviced.
there is also mention that the tank mode turret is stronger and more effective, but in actuality based on actual ingame stats while the cannon itself may technically be more effective the overall DPS per supply is actually about 33% lower.

I've played this Professor guy before, I actually submitted a rep with a game against this guy. I think he must be trolling, because he said the same things in my game against him, almost word for word.

I'd wager CheeseMonsta is an ESL instructor living in Korea. That would explain his assuming his opponent's ethnicity - the word (Korean for country/kingdom) was first picked up by American soldiers during the Korean war, but usage ramped up during Vietnam (inaccurate usage, but more soldiers involved and more movies about it).
It would also explain his hostility - a number of ESL instructors grow notoriously bitter the longer they live there. The initial appeal of high hourly wages, short work day, and free housing becomes a trap as with each passing year of their resume containing only "speak language of my birth in front of children at prompting of colleague who does all the work" makes their prospects of landing a job back home dwindle. The salt for these types is real, and at the same time, totally deserved. Tragicomic.
Siege Tanks were Arclite in SC1 and Crucio in SC2, yeah. I think the campaign unit description on the hyperion had a note on that.
also the siegetanks in sc1 required a tech to be siegeable. i belive thats the reason they are a different name in sc2 as its default

I wish I had my replay from when I was still gold (I'm diamond now with only 3 fingers on my left hand!). A protoss cannon rushed me, I ignored it and built a mediavac. Floated all buildings and ferried my scv's to another safer base. I continued with what I was doing and did the ol Stim A move right into his base. His investment into that cannon rush left him so exposed. Other player raged like a liberal arts major at me because Terran are so op and broken and only round eyes play Terran.

Terran imba though if i amove and cast storms and terran amoves marine marauder medivac viking, sits right in psi storm vs my army of stalker archon colossus high templar disruptor(bad day fudged up everything micro so no balls were sent out or the collossi microed) with like 5 zealots terran wins the fight.

F12 or F11 I believe opens the chat menu and you can just click a button there that mutes em, good choice if it's throwing you off/distracting at all

Love me some salt mines. My favorite was "kill your family rat" that guy must have hated rats lol i am a terran player and i notice its mostly terran players with the most salt. I can understand it because you can't just usually build 1 type of unit and win witj terran as easily. I have been playing random lately and i definitely noticed that terran requires the most skill and finesse. I do great when i play as Zerg or protoss. This is just fun to watch

I didn't know what g--k meant or even was a word. Thought gronk was censored and was like "that's bannable!?" So I looked up gronk and kept trying different searches of it to see why it's so awful now. Then I was like "wait he only changed 1 letter for runt so maybe it's just 1 letter for hook" and yea didn't find any info about it but it's listed as a slur.

My mommy told me the g**k thing came about because the Korean word for a Korean is “Hanguk” and the word for American is “Meeguk” (sort of means melting-pot referring to the racial diversity of the country). American soldiers would meet koreans who would excitedly say “ahhh! Meeguk!” And assumed they were calling themselves g**ks

I remember studying all replays and playing against quite a few map hackers , but at bronze to plat elo they'd waste so much time looking at my base that it made them play worse, just learn critical scouting timings

I like salt, but man... that first game. Assuming there's any real skill or that hacks are actually useful at that level of play... that's pure copium.
And I say that being about Gold. Anyone could wreck me more often than not just by having a build order. I could see the Starport being built through the fog of war and go "hurrr.. durrr... Void Rays" like I was going to do anyway, but I forgot about Probe production for 20 seconds and am now floating 800 minerals just to reach that conclusion. (And then the Starport is just for Medivacs that instantly A-move to their death over my Silver-league cannons and you tell me how I'm supposed to use maphacks at my level)
I think you’re right. I think some of the players think “if I have to lose my video game, you have to lose your cool” which is why not responding works so well against them, because then they are losing their game AND they lose any chance at losing gracefully
Assuming an average game duration of 10 minutes, professor would have 2100 Minutes of play time. If I would have this much play time and be still this bad at micro, I too would be frustrated

In Counter-Strike when someone became overly salty I always found it entertaining to talk about all the positions I had sex with their mom (or dad) and how much they were into it (or I was into it in case they were no longer among us). If there is a salt mine in front of you, why not put on your headlamp and grab your pickaxe?

don't worry your league doesn't matter just your MMR, your mmr takes about 25 games to stabilise during which you gain and lose massive amounts on each win or loss. So you'll drop or climb real quickly to where you belong. First 10-15 games can be a bit one sided one way or the other though. Gl mate

I played against DrZerg recently, who played as random, we had a great game and he definitely didn’t hack. However he did leave without a GG which always look silly when you start the game with gl hf.
I don't really follow your logic. "GL HF" is a friendly statement of intent, you wish your opponent good luck and fun, "GG" is a qualitative statement. I know a lot of internet people these days don't take it literally, but I, and no doubt many others, still like to reserve "GG" for games that were actually good. If I stomp my opponent, I'll never be the first to type GG, if I get stomped by my opponent, I don't always leave with a GG. There can be nothing wrong with a game, but that doesn't make it a good one. When I get really outplayed I prefer to stick with a "WP" for my opponent, as that fits the situation better. Other games I just leave the game without additional typing, as the game was simply unremarkable. I'll always wish my opponents GL HF, but I like my GGs reserved for actual good games.

Does any1 know what I can do to change the border on my account? I am silver border but platinum MMR of 2770. I think there is a bug that gives me a silver border despite me truly being platinum right now, and I fear despite 1v1 matchmaking to similar MMR, the opponent player may think I am a silver league and not try as hard...? I heard leaving the league did not do anything for people in past with similar issues.
that's weird i thought the border issues were gone. Definitely keep playing more games and try leaving league (your MMR will still be the same so don't worry about it resetting progress or anything) - I've heard it just eventually fixes for most people

To understand why people use racial slurs when they don't know their opponent, you need to understand the mindset of the person using the insult. Anyone who uses racial slurs is well... a racist. And in a racist's mind, anyone who isn't their race is automatically inferior. And therefore, being called a member of any other race is an insult... so it doesn't matter if they hit the right ethnic group. To them, being called anything other than their own race is an insult.
Racial insults are used by people who, frankly, are the perfect example of why racial supremacy doesn't really exist.
PiG you need to think about racial insults from the perspective of a racist. I imagine that for them, yelling out racial slurs is a win-win game. If you hit the correct race - great, and if you don't - it's even better since you've both insulted them and said they're not the race they are

Most cheating, direct cheating is easy manipulation of data that is recorded. Easy.
Cheating via injects, codes and some exploits are considered cheating.
Other forms of cheating is engine manipulation or hardware manipulation. Ie common cheating method for moat games that involve data centric needs for advantages is map hacks, walling.. these operate by modding the layers directly, hardware render hierarchy change, a overlay process while playing.
Everything else is the same... but you simply know everything and see everything. Usually give aways would be camera over a base or elsewhere without any actual vision, then there is all dar.. see everything on your radar.. then there is data counters, so no map hack but each unit queries a request and you simply read the write data in process and it gives you a live unit count and building count of the enemy.. so you can never be countered... then there is harder cheats..
You use a on off command and an ai can control your mouse for you like a player.. and you can instruct it and turn on different ads for situations, like micro ai bot to manage attacking better... these ate currently undetectable without specialized software, since the ai can relay from another computer and simply direct inputs of movement without a mouse.., but use the same data port quadrant system.. cheating in a un known companion is not cool, cheating in a known system among friends as a prank is funny. Play nice...
I had one a couple games ago that my opponent had quite the mouth on him. Got called homosexual quite a bit.

Sorry, but no one gives a shit when someone calls me a hunky, which was a highly derogative term for an immigrant Pole in the mid 20th century and is still used today by certain privileged classes with absolutely ZERO repercussions or moral outrage.
