Yes, but... the Brown Derby was an iconic restaurant in Hollywood. It was probably in its heyday in the 40s and 50s, but it was still very well known in the 70s. So it does make sense that Richard thought of it. I think numerous other commenters have established that 1970s rock music was NOBODY'S expertise on this show! (Richard and Brett both had young teenage sons when this was filmed, and undoubtedly were exposed to a lot of the music of the era, but I don't think adult and youth culture had blended in 1974 to the extent they have today. Richard's sons were both musicians.)
That is so funny how Brett asked Gene if he had just left the Farmer's Daughter Motel. That was, and might still be there, a motel across the street from CBS Television City on Fairfax Avenue in Los Angeles. I wonder how many trysts happened there after a long day of taping Match Game.

The Top 10 reasons she should have been removed. 1.She is ugly as homemade sin 2.That smoking causes her to look ugly and sound even worse. 3.She is so dumb, she has to look at her answer for a minute when she is called on just 10 seconds after she has written it down and turned it over. 4.She has to use 2 hands to put her card up. Is it that heavy? 5.She talks all during the time they answer, and it is never funny. 6.She always talks down to the beautiful women on the show.
