Don't forget Paul Anka and Peter Lawford. I've seen them pull correct answers out of thin air--kind of like "berth" from "upper" in this episode. Amazing.
There is SOOOO much tension between Betty and George through this week of episodes, and Alan is trying to keep things from getting more tense... Both Betty and Alan paid George huge compliments for his play, so I wonder why the aggression.
Allen Ludden married Margaret McGloin on October 11, 1943. She died of cancer on October 30, 1961. They had a son, David, and two daughters, Martha and Sarah. Betty White and Allen met in 1961 on the set of his game show, Password, when she appeared as a guest. He proposed to Betty White at least twice before she accepted. In 1963, the couple tied the knot two years after meeting. Betty and Allen were married for 18 years until Ludden passed away from stomach cancer in 1981. Betty never remarried. When Anderson Cooper asked White in 2011 why she never remarried, she replied, "I had the love of my life. If you've had the best, who needs the rest?"
well she ought to be pretty good, she attends all of his shows, and they repeat the same words over and over, so she ought to have a good handle on what clues to give and also to guess.
@@bevn362No need for anyone to remarry. You can live a single life. She knew he was not to be beat. And i think Betty liked being single. She could do it and seemed to like that freedom though she missed Allen. Being with the wrong person would have made her miss him even more.
I just can't get over the fact the first woman was asked "what does your husband do?" invalidating her hobbies, likes or anything else that might be interesting about her.
I saw another episode where they asked the woman this and I was shocked. Another time a beautiful contestant walked out and the men audibly said “Ooo, wow!” When asked what she did, she replied that she was a graduate student getting her Ph.D. and Allen replied, “Oh, she’s going to be a PRETTY doctor!” 🙄
George Grizzard did an excellent job of concealing his homosexuality from the public. He was wise enough to know it was unnecessary to reveal it. Modern day actors should take a lesson from him. Totally addicted to watching Betty White play password. Keep 'em coming
@@Jmac1962 She was fantastic on Pyramid too with Dick Clarke
Me, too! I love her. She was the BEST player of Password!
Dick programmed computers for medical problems in 1967?What a pioneer!
I wonder how he got on for the rest of his career?
Betty was one of the best players on the show. She was very competitive when it came to games
I'm in love with 1960s Betty White!!
Same!
I think everyone was in love with Betty White during her long life.
I always laugh when Ludden comes out and stands there for a moment of adulation, before dramatically walking up to the podium! Lol
Betty is a delight!
Don't forget his patented swing of the mic cord!
He looks debonair !
looks like a robot.
Yay!!! More more of Allen ludden and his wife! 💕🙌🏼😊
Agreed👍
Mr. Hardy was great! A pleasure to watch & of course, Betty was always terrific. Love the interplay between her & Allan.
Betty White is awesome,One of the best Password players alongside Lucille Ball,Elizabeth Montgomery and Carol Burnett!
Kirk Morgan agree though when 70s/80s came I would add Vicki Lawrence to
Don't forget Paul Anka and Peter Lawford. I've seen them pull correct answers out of thin air--kind of like "berth" from "upper" in this episode. Amazing.
Betty looking absolutely gorgeous. I love what she’s wearing.
Betty loved wearing her classic pearl necklace
I love what Allan said at the end.
Betty and Allan were tremendous animal lovers. Gave many donations to good animal charities all their lives. I love them for that
Betty was a huge animal protector
“Pets always respond to kindness “ 🙂🐰
“Allen Ludden’s nemesis in Gin Rummy.”
Solid burn, Mr. Vines
She's always been gorgeous I love her quick wit
David Hardy is fantastic player! Would have loved to see more of him playing Password.
Having raised many parrots i keep looking at the blocks behind them as wooden block parrot toys lol
Password is one of my favourite games. It helped improve my language specially my vocabulary👍👍👍
She was beautiful then and now at 90 years old! And still funny!
BW is 99 actually!
And after all these years, she is still sharp, funny and beautiful.
@@deanstrand4260 RIP
Sorry she left us.
A year since we lost Betty 😥
Another great episode and first rate editing once again
I was three months old at the time of this showing. Maybe my mom was changing my diaper, cleaning up after me, feeding me...etc while she watched.
It’s like Betty has ESP!
People should know when a word is two words.
Enjoyed!
George is right easy to get the clue on the second clue. Alan remained great and diplomatic.
Not always the case. Many get the Password on the first clue; it all depends on imaginative thinking which George seems to lack. He was a grump.
*'Rose'* and *'Jamie'/'George'* from *_The Golden Girls_* 😂
“hello Mrs so&so what does your husband do lol
since she filled out the form before the show explaining all that, Alan has her explain it for the audiences sake.

You’re right about the tension, I was aware of it too. Both Allen and Betty tried to appease to George's ego because he was a sore loser.
Bette died decades after Allen and she never remarried.
Alan Ludden, you sly dog! At 1:33, he says of George Grizzard's play (and very quickly, I might add), "I recommend it hardly, don't you, Betty?"
He said "heartily" not "hardly"
George was frustrated that he was getting his butt kicked by the lovely Betty White. No shame in that...he wasn't the first or the last.
There is another game where George beats Betty the whole game through. And Betty did not seem too happy.
@@m.e.d.7997 The competition is feirce!
George Grizzard is so young and talented and fabulous good looking.
The contestant, Dick Friedman was very handsome too...
George Grizzard
George Gizzard...all together, WHO???
Something unsavoury about George Grizzard. Can’t put my finger on it.
He's a sore loser
@@MASTER.SON. Definitely, he was really pouting and kept making snotty little comments.
I thought he was terrific. Keep watching. Your comment looks foolish.
@@leeweatherly7659Exactly. I can put my finger on it.
Question. Could Allen have fell in love with a woman that was not a good Password player????? LOLOLOLOLOL

@@m.e.d.7997 Did you read all the info I wrote and Betty’s reply?
@@bevn362 Yes i did. It just seemed it stressed the fact that she never remarried like that was odd.
I just can't get over the fact the first woman was asked "what does your husband do?" invalidating her hobbies, likes or anything else that might be interesting about her.
Welcome to 1967. Also -- the producers coordinated that kind of banter with the contestants.
Maybe her husband was more interesting than her

cringe includes being embarrassed which they never said.
Could also infer repulsiveness
Lol @4:57-5:08, poor Allen
HAS NOONE NOTICED who is ADVERTISED at the bottom of the SCREEN, in GREEN! 9:30 I couldn't believe it!
Yes!
The man who couldn't get Rue McClanahan's name right on the Emmy awards!
What is so extraordinary about it?
you mean those banners that cover up the word so you can't read it? how can you not notice it.
The clue is Big and Betty knows is Leaf?! How?!!!!
I think the clue was fig
@@ruthannmoyer316 thank you! That makes much more sense!
The clue was FIG, that's how Betty knew to guess LEAF.
To bad the commercial talked over a classic like Allen Laddin.
Why did Password reduce the winner's prize from $250 to $100?
me thinks it's because they went to having them play 2 rounds instead of one giving them the opportunity to earn $700. Just my guess however.

In America you have the right to talk about it or keep it to yourself. You prefer America was more like Iran or Syria?
How the hell did he get berth from upper on the first clue?!?
Upper berth was a common term for the upper seats on a train...
Trains used to be a thing
I was surprised that he got it in only one clue !! And impressed. I might have played it like it was spelled birth ! 🦜
@@randysills4418 Exactly.
@@lynnturman8157Yes trains were still popular then.
Gin Rummy nemesis....Ludden obviously didn't want his wig split nor access denied to other things
So Allen is secretly helping Betty ?
George was not a good clue giver. Copied Betty’s clue a few times.
George was an excellent player. Sometimes when they run out of clues all players may do this if the word is going nowhere.
omg Allen burn that jacket
Kind of matches his hair ☺
