I watched this show growing up. The last few years watching reruns. Don't remember not allowing a contestant call on a Celebrity twice in a row.
Cool effect for '75 having the $5,000 flashing over them all like that!

I thought they had the jackpot board with the '73 episodes. I always remember it being below them as they stood off to the side.

One of the episodes from the brief time they had a rule that prohibited contestants from picking the same panelist twice in a row. Essentially a pre-Star Wheel attempt at getting fans to stop picking Richard Dawson all the time.
One idea I had would be to say that you have to play with the celebrity whose answer you chose.
That wouldn't always work since some contestants chose their own answers but I guess in that case you'd be free to pick any celebrity of your choosing.
I said that way for brevity. The longer version is you can't choose a celebrity whose answer you rejected. IOW, if you go on your own, you have to play with one of the other three celebs.
The rule wasn't as strict as I'd remembered. I thought you had to choose a new celeb each time.
I like that answer. I'm so SICK of them picking Richard all the time (even when Brett gives the better answers most of the time, they STILL pick Richard)
Re calling on same celeb for big money:I think it was a financial decision by the producers to limit payouts to contestants.
