6 years ago & the story is still being told, I like it. From Maine originally left after high school (89) but hunted Shin Pond to N entrance of Baxter alot. I miss it dearly thanks for sharing.
Glad you liked it Paul. Maine moose hunting is world class and I believe non-residents have a better chance to draw as it come from a different pool of permits.
Good for you Hal, I watched this video maybe 15 times in the last few years and love it just keep watching it. My brothers been applying for 28 years and I been applying for 14 no luck yet, maybe in another 25 ill get lucky LOL. Awesome job guys epic journey.
met your guide,Lee(I think that was his name, young guy~is shown at 4:26), in October in the area we were hunting, great guy and was guiding a cow moose hunter!
Great video, I waited 16 years to get my first moose tag in Maine. I also got a Moose in 2013. Somehow Lady Luck has shined on me again. I will give it another try this September in the same place Allagash again for 2019. God Bless and Good Hunting! Maine North Woods Hunter
Surprised I missed this one Hal but boy, am I glad I came across this. What an incredible hunt and thanks for sharing it so generously with this excellent video. If it took you 33 years, I suspect this flatlander's chances are, er, less, lol, but this sure gets the blood going. As always, your work combines such a top-notch education with brilliant videography. Thanks, Hal. Also nice to see you carrying the 1895, didn't know you used it. I've got my own 50/50, wide meplat 425s, DIY lube, with IMR 4198 and a Leu FX II 2.5x20 ultralight on board, for our northwoods here in WI (and woods anywhere else, was the intention in working this up). Hated scoping it, but eyes are doing what they do! Many thanks again and all the best.
Now that's what I call a moose camp, all tents, that's incredible. You wanna get the big ones you got to go where others aren't willing to. For all the people that think noose hunting is only driving dirt roads till you see one, here ya go.
Great video. I hope to get a moose permit in the future and so does my dad. I've hunted grouse all over Maine and never have seen a Spruced grouse while hunting so it's cool to know that they still reside in Maine.
Really good stuff. I have been a fan of Hal's stuff since picking up his Hunting Big Woods Bucks booklet. Improved my game for sure. I am interested in knowing how many sandwiches Hal eats in a typical season.
Congratulations on that whole hunt, Hal. It looks like you're a fellow lefty! That was a very nicely done video, and fun to watch. I especially liked the Hotel Royalex. A bit of an Adirondack touch there!
Nice job my brother an I had the same season in d7 took us to the last minute on Friday but we got a very nice bull 46' spread 890lbs not quiting is key
Great hunt, nice bull, waited 32 years for my permit in 2012. Wife got her permit in 2013 after 3 years, go figure. Got our moose on friday of october season, never give up.
That was great! Thats my goal is to moose hunt one day. Been a hardcore deer hunter for many years on a qtr million acres of hill country public in southern indiana amd have always wanted go to bigger woods to hunt moose.
I don’t understand the non insulated old school rubber boots? Does a guy double up on wool socks? They seem horrible by today’s standards. Or I’m a young 42 year old punk that needs a lesson! Love the content!
at 12:56 when you had that stand off wit that bull shouldve shot him threw the trees right in the chest... i use 223rem only and could make a shot threw tress like that and drop him right where he stood.. clean kill shot..

How does the license application work? You put one in and when a spot becomes available (even years later), they let you know you can hunt?
Another great adventure moose hunt Hal love watching you and the guys having a blast thank you for sharing

Nice bull! Really enjoy your videos. I was surprised to see you with a lever action rifle and not your trusty 7600 carbine.
Great video. I hope to get a moose permit in the future and so does my dad. I've hunted grouse all over Maine and never have seen a Spruced grouse while hunting so it's cool to know that they still reside in Maine.

How many days is your moose hunt? Here in New Brunswick it 5 days last Tuesday to Saturday last full week in sept

When in doubt sit down and have a sandwich
Nice bull to bad he sold cedar ridge and moved to piscatiwa Canada for Remington.
Jake, I have no idea where you got that info. I'm still living in Jackman and will not be moving to Canada
Sorry about that, then why did you sell cedar ridge?
No lifejackets on the water???? Would have failed your guide exam!!!!
