This man is the kind of no-BS hunter worth watching and listening to. His simple advice comes from experience and is invaluable. Notice that when he talks into the camera he speaks in a half whisper and his eyes are constantly scanning the horizon, always looking. A true hunter.
Just love watching these videos, Hal. One of the stand outs of your character is the respect you show for the animal itself. Thanking God, the creator and being humble enough to treat the Buck as he deserves to be treated. Thanks for taking us along on another great adventure!
I love your videos..my wife of 48 years and I are moving to Presqile to live with our daughter and her family in 18 days from today..I've lived in Massachusetts all my life and have hunted whitetail 🦌 in NH and VT and MA.im 71 now and after a recent heartattack I just can't pick up the track anymore .oh I can find it ok just can't follow it..but tracking is all I have ever known. And when done well the rewards are beautiful .it's like being in school everyday you do it ..the fun kind of school..so track on brother. I'm with you all the way..I miss it so
This man is a true hunter, let the 6 point ( go to grow )....BIG RESPECT! for men like this... I've practiced this past 10 yrs or more. Big mature bucks only. Congrats. Bro..on yr nice whitetail buck
That's on my bucket list Hal. Track down a nice buck. Trying to get some friends to go to Maine or New Hampshire or somewhere to try it. The Adirondacks even could work. Thanks for all your videos!!!!
Great job, great video. You are truly one of the best trackers out there. I hunt the Adirondack mountains. In New York. If you ever over this way and would like to hunt, give me a shout. Truly would love to hunt with you some day. Good luck this year.
Thanks for the videos and podcasts, I've been watching and listening for a few years now. It's always nice to learn something about tracking and hunting. A lot of times the country looks different with that fresh snow plastered on everything, not so much when you've never been there before to begin with! Neat to see that little cedar on the ground. Nice deer.
I'd love to film for you n your hunts. I'm a buck only hunter myself. Got a beautiful camp up in TR34. Camps record was a 274lbs not mine lol. Heck would love for you to join my Dad n I some week upta our camp.
Hey hal when you track a buck is the wind blowing in a specific direction? Do you notice it at all? Are they traveling into the wind or wind to their back or a cross wind?
Don't really want to answer for him but that question gets asked a lot. When they track in the snow they don't pay attention to the wind, because it swirls in the mountains and thermals change. So basically they stay on the track, jumping them multiple times a day. Usually waiting a 1/2 hour after jumping one to let them calm down and see nothing is following them anymore. Deer really don't know humans track them by there tracks not scent like other predators. That is why they walk up streams, backtrack, tangle in with other deer to loose there scent tracker. Deer are typically chased by coyotes in the wild that kill them or dogs,. at least in New England area.
I guess I was thinking same thing about the wind and terrain.makes total sense tho thanks for the input . This style of hunting to me is so cool. Def wanna try it
@@ricomidence2063 It's definitely the funniest style but probably most difficult. It doesn't work well in my area because there's lots of tree stand hunters and you push them into those guys. Works best in unpopulated areas. Just remember there's always a deer at the end of the track. In a stand deer can be bedding or not moving then you sit all day and see no deer!
Here in NJ we really don't get them that big so here's my question. do you drag this guy out or break him down and pack him out. I'm sure you a few miles to hike back to the truck.
Hey Hal , I was told I won a shotgun for being a subscriber. I'm sorry but felt like I was being scammed . words were not correct and I needed to give shipping payment to this Gerild . did not feel right . just FYI.
Dude, you need to get a GoPro or some other type of camera you can wear so you can actually capture the footage of the hunt and the shot instead of just giving a recount of events.
Hal…I consistently kill bucks at my age ..and with poor legs these days I hunt..by hunting choke points and waiting them out over many days..they move over time to check scrapes and or territory…I’m there to take him out…..Mature bucks always come back to their home territory or turf..

What do you do with your gun when you’re dragging a deer out I see you don’t have a sling rig for it?
