Hi Gunnar. Well, you are giving me more hope for a friend. He bought this rod and the recommended SA Sonar Titan full int WF-11-I. He came down to visit in the practice casting didn't go so well. I took the rod and, wow, same experience. It just didn't seem to be loading very well. So we are hoping it's the line and not the rod!

Hi Gunnar, it's Mark Sedotti. You're casting more and more like me. Similar style. Love the way you use (do) your weight shift! That makes SO much difference for effective casting! I ended up using the Wulff regular Triangle Taper 9 wt. floating line (40 ft. head) with that 11 wt, (Echo Musky) rod. Mine was 9 ft. 3 in? With my rod it was incredible. Incredibly effortless. Don't know why it worked. Just another fly fishing anomaly, which is common enough.
What reel are you using? Thinking of a Lamson Liquid 9+ for that rod.
This is the Behemoth 9/10 - very big reel, paired well enough. A Liquid 9+ would be great. I wouldn't hesitate to pair the two. I don't mind it if the reel is slightly undersized, but not of fan when its too big and too heavy for the outfit. I have two Liquids in 7+ that I throw on my 10wt when need be. Bought them for a different outfit, but never used em so I put all my 10wt lines on em. I think you'd be set with the 9+

Gunnar, you mentioned the 3 stage leader build for this setup. What would that leader build be-lines, wgts, lengths, connections? Would you please share the instructions for the build?
