Thank you for this video. I am really considering an Acorn board now that I have seen this. Currently I am using a simple GRBL CNC Shield. It is cheap, dies the job, but is a finicky thing to mess with.
I'm going to go the exact same rout as you did with the workBee. I'm not ordering any of their electronics. I got to your channel following the Centroid acorn info. Can you supply any list of the controller, motors, drives, how many power supplies, etc. Basically all of your components including hand pulse generator for your followers. I've run CNCs for nearly 50 years, but never put 1 together. I want to make sure I have all the things I need to get it right. I really like the way the closed loop servos and the Acorn controller never get lost, and I see thru watching your vids, that you have yours working well. Please let us know what makes your tic. Thanks., Paul B. , Huntington Beach CA.
That relay I’m unsure how they work. If you have a 110v device do you hook up the 110v directly to the rely? (You answered my question at the end of the video)
Man that’s awesome, seeing this thing coming to life ! I was wondering, do you plan on installing a coolant system ? Like a closed loop flood or maybe a mist coolant system... I would be very interested in your answer because I can’t come up with a solution on my router (it uses an mdf spoil board like yours)
Hi. I'll probably just use the vacuum on the router. But, I have found that rubbing alcohol and an air brush works great on my lathe. It keeps the cut cool but hardly leaves any mess on my machine.
fyi..the auto square default message display time is 3 seconds..this is set on purpose to be slow so the first time running its easy to follow along as to what is going on..., after you have it all setup and working the way you want...you can decrease the message display time in macro # 74 at the top. 1.5 seconds works well.
Are the drive screws the ones that came with the machine? I'm thinking of getting the workbee from bulk man, and getting different stepper motors and drives, not like your but better than what comes with the machine. the ones you got are out of my price range right now.
Hi. I did use the stock leadscrews ad delrin nuts. They worked pretty well. The Clear Path servos were a bit of Overkill but they worked AWESOME! that being said, closed loop steppers are also an excellent choice.
I used all four axis outputs on the Acorn. But, it is possible to drive both Y-axis motors from a single output and have the ability to connect a 4th axis rotary.
Are these servos Teknic CPM-SDSK-2310S-RLN, Nema 23, 3.34” length, 100W - 770W, 24 - 75 VDC? I'm looking to build a machine similar to yours do you have a parts list?
@@loganrose2791 Oh. Well, the Acorn can only drive four axis motors. So, you can't make a 4 axis router as you need 5 individual drive motors to accomplish this. There are government restrictions on 5-axis technology that make it cost prohibitive to develop an inexpensive 5-axis board. Centroid falls on the government RADAR as they do a lot of their business in the true industrial arena. Google ITAR
@@loganrose2791 that is true. But, the CNC control companies are still regulated by the ITAR laws. In fact, many new multi axis CNC machines have GPS units in them so they can be tracked when they are moved. We moved some machines at work and they stopped functioning a few days later because of this. No joke.
boy nice job you all setup
Might be the nicest Bee, yet! Thanks for posting.
Hi. Great great sutup buddy!! Greatings from Sicily
Thanks!

The Centroid system is really nice to work with. I've found it to be very stable.

ey,let the cat program the machine haha, btw nice setup,am just building my workbee right now,i like it so far, take care!

Awesome!
great video/ your missing your cold beverage
I try to save that for the weekends. Stick to the diet during the week. Keto.
How fast it is moving this machine? Still didn't showed the actual speed in any of your videos!
Franco great stuff. Openbuilds is running a deal on their motion controller, called the "Black Box" could it run the Clear path motors you use
I'm sure it could be made to work somehow. If you have step and direction, the I'm sure you can make the ClearPath motors do their thing.

Franco, you went with servos, but did you also go with ballscrews? 2 x X, Y, and Z?
Negative. Currently using the stock 8mm triple lead leadscrews and double plastic nuts. So far, that seems to be working out pretty well.
I have a acorn that I’m hooking to my mill, I bought the pendant. Can you use the pendant for both machines?
you can. Just plug the receiver into the computer you want to use it with.
Cannot find the video where you talk about that pendant.

when u connect the 2nd Y axis (slaved one) do you have to add it to another axis? so you end up using all 4 axis or is the connection different?

Have you used Masso as a keyword?
I couldn’t quite see where there link was. Do you have a link for that auto squaring pdf?
www.centroidcnc.com/centroid_diy/downloads/acorn_documentation/paired_axes_acorn_user_guide.pdf
Do I have to purchase the pro license in order to do that?
Yes sir.
where did you get your electrical panel

Why have you put kids stickers on your cnc? Looks like a toy box.
Any room on the board to add a 4th axis to this?
Maybe. You have 5 inches of Z travel. If you want to use a forth axis, you may have to partially recess it below the spoil board.
@@FrancoCNC I was referring to room for another drive on the board.

Does the router auto turn on/off with the program?
It does. My post processor generats the code to send the machine home and turn off the vacuum and spindle at the end of the program
@@FrancoCNC can you talk about your post processor for newbies
