Awesome:) i used T-nuts on the bottom of mine but the inserts are a great idea. One thing i learned was dont overtighten your hold downs in the mdf as it will pull up and either break the mdf or can make a raised area around the threaded hole. Well done
Do you still need limit/proximity switches with clearpath servos. Doesn't it know where it is at all times. Can't it auto stop once it reaches the limit of travel.
@Franco, Hey man, thanks so much for your PM25 conversion kit. I cut the parts last semester and I'm ordering my mill this week. Today I'm ordering a router. I was thinking of going with an X-carve but their tech support is garbage and shipping is expensive, so I'm looking for suggestions. I'd like to put servos on (the mill and the router) but I'm told I can't do that with GRBL. Maybe your could point me in the right direction?
Hi. I'm glad the videos helped you. Please post a video and show off your handiwork. As far as the servos go, the Clear path servos I used work with any step and direction based system. I can't think of a reason why you couldn't use them.
You can see the Y-axis fittings here on the side of the base of the machine. I drilled and tapped through the casting: ua-cam.com/video/2SYehPlFsa4/v-deo.html
I would go with Clearpath over DMM. Both are good but Clearpath is easier to setup and configure. They are also based in New York and very good with support.
I forgot to mention something. It is possible that I modify the switch position for stepper during the time that the driver was on. Could this be the problem? Could I damaged the drivers?
This was an interesting project to follow, really like you presentation style. You're killing me though, 6 months silence. What can it do, cut some stuff please. No music real time please. I have cookies. ;)
Hi Ed. So, here is what happened to the router. A friend of mine (who is does a lot of woodworking) saw it and HAD to have it. So, I sold it to him. He uses it pretty much every day and makes all sorts of signs and things like that. He also does a lot of diamond engraving. He runs these programs that are over 250,000 lines of code! I've also had two of my coworkers build this Workbee router. They seem pretty happy with it. One of them does a lot of 3D carving with his. He makes these scale boat hulls with it.

Is you are planning to venture into an ATC spindle then the cheapest one i found is from stepcraft. They have an ATC attachment for Kress spindles. www.stepcraft.us/shop/product/20981-automatic-tool-changer-atc-for-mm-1000-amb-kress-spindles-50 they do have other more expensive ATCs which are overkill for workbee cnc.
Good job! Acorns user interface looks very professional and clean.

Awesome set up Franco.
Thanks!
Yes. Please make a video about those servos. Great build BTW.
very well done!
the clear path servos make me happy, so much better than steppers
Very nice! Hey Franco how much of this would you say is transferable to a plasma table, or what changes would you make?
Do you still need limit/proximity switches with clearpath servos. Doesn't it know where it is at all times. Can't it auto stop once it reaches the limit of travel.
Have you figured out a way to home the Clearpath motors using the built in encoders?

Franco did you see my last video about spacing the ball nuts? if so what did you think about it, how did you do it?
I did. Very nice. I left a comment on that video.
