It's been another busy week for PlayStation! Final Fantasy VII Rebirth has been met with critical acclaim, and Helldivers 2 continues to be incredibly popular. AND Rise of the Ronin let's you rescue and pet cats. What more could you want? Okay, well we also now have confirmation that Hi-Fi Rush, Pentiment, Grounded, and Sea of Thieves are officially coming to PS5. Elsewhere throughout the week we have word Sony is preparing PS VR2 for PC support, Jim Ryan's comments for the next CEO, and From Soft's President on a Bloodborne Remake. See? It's a busy week. Every time a game like helldivers 2 or Baldurs Gate 3 comes out and blasts the industry, it makes me hope that companies will finally ujderstand that the best way to make money in the gaming landscape is to release a good and finished product. Word of mouth is the best advertising campaign in the modern era

@@Collier990RHCPIt's way more finished at launch than many AAA games with 5x the budget. Most of their "problems" stem from an overwhelmingly huge number of gamers trying to get online at once. Not exactly the worst problem to have.
Finished product? There's gonna be like a dozen patches.
Thats crazy you internet people really think those games are “blasting the industry.” Most profitable games are GTA, FIFA, COD, Fortnite, etc those type of games.

Yeah it's going to be sick when that gets released, it got revealed on that recent Nintendo Partner Direct and man I'm hyped dude I loved playing those titles on my PS2 and I still have my copies somewhere. Might be a good reason to fire up the old hardware again and also give support to Lucasfilm on Classic SW Battlefront for each sale of that collection as a means to drive them in the right direction for once.

I'm all Physical too, but recently I was doing some Installs and noticed on Xbox it tells you how fast something is installing.
The opticsl drive seems to top out at about 250mbps. Many of us have Internet that allow faster install times than Optical Disc drives can allow.
So then I started to think... What if we will still have Physical Media, but for games it's no longer going to be Disc based media but maybe physical Cartridges again?
What if with the advancement of SSDs/NVMe drives come down so much that games are now going to be stored on what are basically SSDs and we now can buy Cartridge based games that will allow for fast installs or even play off the Cart.
The reason why we need to install games is because the Hard drive has a faster data rate than the disc drive does. So for me the most logical thing to do is used SSDs to store games because the data transfer rate would be so fast we could play right off the Cart without having to install the game.
agreed on a couple points : fast carts like switch (faster obviously ) i would be ok with : its ownership - thats why I have a pretty good sized movie collection. Streaming will never equal 4k UHD - in the case that I own the movies.

IMO, Bloodborne doesn't need a remaster nor a remake, it needs a huge patch and a sequel

I'm shocked Eurogamer really screwed up that interview, all they had to say was "Is there chances for a port or a patch for Bloodborne?" and that's it, like I feel like a full blown remake would take too long.
Even so we could get both with a remaster port/patch for the OG game to fill in the void till that remake happens and it's more of a Reimagining than anything else having some cut ideas reimplemented and new ones thrown in for good measure.
Either a remake or a sequel. Either way I'm pumped for seeing Bloodborne getting some love.

Splitting the larger collection videos in 2 might be the play. You can do them as rainy day videos for when you just don’t have the time to pull something else together and just have them banked.
I said I would buy Hi-Fi Rush when it got a physical release, so I'm excited to finally pick it up. Had no idea when I first said that, though, that it would be on PS5 when I eventually bought it.
I don't count Limited Run Games as actual physical releases, and it's starting to look like that's the way lazy Microsoft is gonna go

Complaining to Microsoft isn’t gonna change their mind, they’re a trillion dollar company outsourcing their physical game prints so I don’t think anything will convince them at this point.
@NoonDragoon They're only outsourcing these smaller titles. Can't say I blame them really. It's likely they'll only sell physical copies in the thousands. If they're lucky. That's just not a good use of resources for a company that big. Better to go 3rd party with it.
But for their bigger sellers, of course they'll keep doing those in house like before.

@@NoonDragoon True, but the first game was an all digital launch if I recall. I imagine it'll get a similar Limited Run, or some other 3rd party limited release physical edition down the line. Maybe even at launch and they'll announce it for launch closer to launch.
Oh interesting additional news about physical movies from sony in Poland. For a past few years sony has dropped physicals in the market, however recently they signed a deal with Canal+ and now they will handle physical sony releases in the region. Of course this is a movie specific thing

helldivers has been proven a disaster, the game flopped withen a week! had friends that bought it day 1, never seen them play it ever since!

But jokes aside, it’s crazy how the day of the Nintendo Direct felt more like a 3rd party day. With the arrival of Shin Megami tensei to all platforms, as well as the reveal of the Xbox games, and among them Hifi Rush was the only Xbox game I ever cared to play.

I'm looking forward to your review of the Pulse Elite headset, and specifically how well it fits PSVR 1 and 2, which is one of the pros of the Pulse 3D.
Can I use second hand physical disc or do I have to overpay for old games?
Its important to note that the leaked manufacturing cost for PSVR2 is $280 per unit. Shipping and R&D isn't factored in that ofc but its very plausible that selling at $550 gives them a pretty decent profit margin. Sony also tends to make profit on accessory sales, which is what PSVR2 is positioned as, an accessory. Opening up native pc support would garner them a ton of more sales.
Panasonic DP-UB820 is the one to get for great 4k HDR playback not to mention other formats. It's $499.
I love hell divers but if I haven’t been able to join a room no matter what settings I played with. I heard they increased the capacity today. I’ll give it a shot after work. It’s just annoying I paid full price hoping to be able to play. I hope Sony is stepping in to help them resolve this quickly

It's because they're moving towards all-digital, as the upcoming Series console suggests. Also, physical copies cost more to produce and have less yield.

Same with their PC VR games/VR skills. They just don't want to I think, too busy to get someone to use their IPs or do it themselves even though they own them.
It's a worthwhile game Sunset Overdrive, ReCore, Rare Replay and Forza Motorsport 5-7 (hate them), Demon Turf smart delivery physical only on Xbox digital elsewhere are the only reason besides a Blu ray TV/movies/CD player and back compat I even keep my Xbox One VCR/One X around besides the odd other games exclusives or to have a fair third party copies option if can't find them on PS4/Switch.

Really sad media people like you can’t say or ignored or missed the Tekken 8 should be a legitimate game of the year contender. I don’t doubt more significant games Will come out this year, however, it is such a quality offering and honors the players with no need for micro transactions. It should be highlighted more.
I think that’s because fighting games aren’t that popular outside of their core player audience, so they tend to get overlooked easily

Unfortunately all of them except Sea of Thieves suck, and SoT is ok at best.. the games probably weren't selling that's why we're getting them
I would be very surprised if that happened. Microsoft wants to make money selling them to PS players and they don’t want to diminish the appeal of Gamepass which is where you get to play those games in a subscription service.

Yes. A remake is where they use all new engine and textures and models etc. A remastered is a polishing up the original "master" copy, so better resolutions , higher frame rate etc but not changing the models and engine and textures etc. It can be very confusing with so many now

Whoa this news this Friday has got me really excited! I know that your heart had to melt when you learned that you can recues kitties Ryan which is another reason why I am getting Rise of the Ronin! I know that it will be a game up for game of the year that I have been the most stoked for to debut. I am also excited for Little Devil Inside. I love the looks of that game that to me has an look similar to Okage: Shadow King. I think Bloodborne already looks great, but I haven't played it yet. I have owned the physical copy and am glad that its in my collection. I think it would make more sense to remaster it for PS6. I do feel that also PS6 will still have a disc drive and I for one will be contributing to the sales of physical media so that we should hopefully see PS6 with a disc drive.

I'm over the incessant want for every game to be remade or remastered. PS4 games shouldn't be remade because they're totally playable on PS5 with disk or digital. Wait for the 6 or 7 to come out before asking for remakes. I understand that remaster teams are brought on for those specific tasks, but they could also be leveraged on new games instead. Unless the level of effort approaches that of the FFVII remake, don't bother.

@@missp6983 Can't say I was bored or disappointed with the FFVII remake, but that's probably because of the extra effort they've put into it. A remaster of a PS2 game could be fine, but I'm ok leaving games in the past.

@@cringo08 Remasters make the games more available to play(mostly for people who never played the game in the first place). I would much rather have a new game to play instead of remaking every old game.

Is Sony actually surprised that PSVR2 isn't doing as well as they "expected"? Did they really "expect" that it would sell like crazy with a half-assed soft launch, not being available in any retail stores for the first 4 months, ZERO marketing, no Black Friday deals, and lackluster game lineup? It's a wonder it sold any units at all with Sony's total ambivalence to the product or it's future.
