Ive bought many xboxs and playstations with discs still in the drive,dont even know until you get home and power it up. Unless its a ps1...then you can pop the top and see if theres a game in there already but buying a ps1 when you can play the games on a 2 or 3 now days seems kinda pointless besides just the nostalgia.

The ps3 is genuinely one of the best game libraries of all time. After having to sell my ps5 due to financial issues, I've been playing a ton of ps3, and i have been realizing just how fun these games are. If you wanna get a little mischievous, a lot of modders have custom updates for many games, like with Ncaa 14, where they made a mod that updates the roster, gameplay, and gives you more features. It truly is sad how it was hated so much throughout its life.
I agree it's probably the best game library overall, there is so much available, especially with the collections and psone backward compatibility even if you don't have a model that can play ps2 it's still the best in my opinion.
Unfortunately the PS3 is slow as a snail game updates were the worst taking forever to download and install and not much multitasking you could do. GTA 5 install process was a pain.

Also some games like GTA 5 and MGS 4 actually fully installed themselves onto the hard drive, that's why it takes so long on first boot. That wasn't even a possibility on the 360 with it having almost no storage out of the box. Some games on the 360 even came on 3 or 4 DVD's because they where too big for a single DVD. The updates take almost the same amount of time on the PS4, it just could not do it at the same time as playing something else. They didn't take into consideration how much the gaming landscape would change in the coming 5 years i guess.

That Kingdoms of Amalur save file had me laughing, because I immediately thought of my 600+ hours in TES: Oblivion. Sometimes a game can just swallow you whole. The weirdest thing is that I only followed the story for about 10 hours (closed one Oblivion gate). My remaining time with the game was spent doing a couple of side quests, picking insane amounts of mushrooms and flowers and exploring close to every inch of the map. Still to this day my most played game. Just Cause 2 comes pretty close, but still ends up in second place. Amazing PS3 memories! 🙂
11:34 It's fully possible this console and the last one were connected to HDMI and had themes on but they did a display output reset by holding the power button for two beeps. That resets any theme setting and resets to RCA cable or SD output, even when using HDMI.
Didn't make the final cut but only that one console had additional themes so that might be the case. I just figure if they didn't bother to wipe and restore, then they probably didn't reset the signal but that would definitely make sense!

I’ve seen UA-camrs play second hand PS2 saves but never second hand PS3 saves. I’ve always thought that was because memory cards are a lot more interchangeable than hard drives. Really interesting video.
It is. PS3 HDD is fully encrypted and, in addition to that, save-files are tagged with user-id. In contrast, PS1/2 and PSP files can even be moved between real hardware and emulator freely.
I used to buy and sell Nintendo 3DS consoles and my favourite thing to do was scrolling through the Activity Log and Gallery, seeing what I could find, what they played and for how long etc.
571 hours on Reckoning is absolutely wild, some major respect to that dude, more than words can provide. He got pretty far with some pretty dang decent gear, IIRC, near the end, but I could be a bit wrong, been a few years since I picked up Reckoning and finished it. Great motivation to head back on and play it again on my PS3 though, that's for sure!

I'm shocked at the cost of these. The Sony refurbishment warehouse near me sells PS3s for $70 to $90 depending on their hard drive size. I've bought a couple and they look new, fully factory refurbished, have a dualshock and cables, 90 day warranty - and when I went into their store on the front of the warehouse, the people give a couple of games with them.
I have 3 PS3s so far ahaha picked up a boxed super slim & slim recently…. And have another slim that I actually use. I’m collecting games for it again. Have many memories playing it as a teen so it’s one of my favorite consoles of all time.
i would love more of these types of videos, especially the PS2 ones. would love to see more old kingdom hearts or an old baldurs gate save be found specifically, a couple of games that i feel are very personable with it's set ups and items/builds.

This is making me feel quite sad, it's like talking to old people in nursing houses. These people moved on on their consoles and did not even resetted them or deleted the files (and pictures saved), so their consoles are completely soaked in their lives, but they're no longer there. It's a bit depressing.
There's something incredibly meloncholy about that persons Skyrim file. The idea that this person clearly adored the game so much that they sunk a large majority of their free time into it and then just left it. I know im thinking too much about this, they probably started a new save file on the switch or something. Or they are playing Starfield and loving it! Right?...
I just want to put this out there for people selling their ps3, please take your playstation account off the system or factory reset it. I've bought 2 of these off facebook market plays and both times people full names, addresses, emails, and credit card info has been accessible on them. Of course I deleted there accounts off if, but it can be very easy to get your info stolen.
I have a couple of games that are a bronze away from platinum, which I could do simply by completely a mini game. Done with those games and not bothered enough to get them.
4:24 I'm pretty sure the only record of any progress for save data in the PS3 collections for Kingdom Hearts would be located in-game where it tells you time spent and where you saved (also a crown if you've beaten the final boss in certain games). It's fine that you've never opened up the KH games on PS3 because they only play at 30FPS (which is fine but not as good as the PS4 ports) and they have terrible load times, especially in 2.5. EDIT: I forgot that you were going to go through the games so the info I shared is kind of pointless.
I kind of chuckled when you were amazed at the 196 houra logged in that game. That's nothing to what me and my buddies used to log in old PC MMOs from the late 90s. 700+ easily 😅
I could definitely understand the 500 hours of Kingdoms of Amalur. Sometimes an open world game just enraptures you, I had like 300 hours on Fallout 3 on PS3 and that was before the DLC's. It also helps to be young and not able to afford a lot of games after using all your saved up money on the console. Also very funny to see that PS3 with LBP and InFamous downloaded, those were the exact two games I picked as well from that PSN outage freebie offer.

It's called no dlc no exploits and taking your time. But yeah 200 hours nowadays on the anniversary edition you should be running at least level 65-70

This is making me feel quite sad, it's like talking to old people in nursing houses. These people moved on on their consoles and did not even resetted them or deleted the files (and pictures saved), so their consoles are completely soaked in their lives, but they're no longer there. It's a bit depressing.

There's something incredibly meloncholy about that persons Skyrim file. The idea that this person clearly adored the game so much that they sunk a large majority of their free time into it and then just left it.

I just want to put this out there for people selling their ps3, please take your playstation account off the system or factory reset it. I've bought 2 of these off facebook market plays and both times people full names, addresses, emails, and credit card info has been accessible on them. Of course I deleted there accounts off if, but it can be very easy to get your info stolen.

4:24 I'm pretty sure the only record of any progress for save data in the PS3 collections for Kingdom Hearts would be located in-game where it tells you time spent and where you saved (also a crown if you've beaten the final boss in certain games). It's fine that you've never opened up the KH games on PS3 because they only play at 30FPS (which is fine but not as good as the PS4 ports) and they have terrible load times, especially in 2.5.
EDIT: I forgot that you were going to go through the games so the info I shared is kind of pointless.
I kind of chuckled when you were amazed at the 196 houra logged in that game. That's nothing to what me and my buddies used to log in old PC MMOs from the late 90s. 700+ easily 😅

I could definitely understand the 500 hours of Kingdoms of Amalur. Sometimes an open world game just enraptures you, I had like 300 hours on Fallout 3 on PS3 and that was before the DLC's. It also helps to be young and not able to afford a lot of games after using all your saved up money on the console. Also very funny to see that PS3 with LBP and InFamous downloaded, those were the exact two games I picked as well from that PSN outage freebie offer.
