Living in the past and feeling guilty has been something I have been dealing with for nearly 20 yrs. watching your videos has helped me so very much. Thank you for doing what you do
I’m from India & right now the 2nd wave of pandemic is ravaging our country.. with cyclones on both our east & west coasts. Every single person is feeling discouraged. Your video brought a lot of solace with it’s wisdom of “right now where we are, is the only place we can be.” Thank you. Subscribed. 🧡
And again your content is exactly what I am struggling with. I am in my master's program for counseling right now and I find myself struggling with school work despite me having plenty of time and resources to complete them. Part of me constantly feels guilty when I'm not making progress. Guilty because I know that nearly in my program has kids, full times jobs, spouses, and mental health struggles of their own. I will give myself one day off and spend the entire day mentally justifying my day off, instead of enjoying it and trusting myself to complete what I need to.
@@ButterflyBeginningsCounseling I believe I would like to focus on the LGBTQIA+ community. It is hard to know because I am interested in so many aspects of mental health.
Oh my, this is exactly how I’m feeling :( I honestly feel like my whole life fell apart in so many ways and it’s just really hard not to feel discouraged. Hope this knowledge helps me
So needed this! I'm dealing with depression and anxiety...and been working on my dream of drum wellness program...and NOW adapting it virtually. But run out of energy FAST! As long as we're making progress on our dream...no matter how small...you're STILL making progress (you're not quitting. Look around how many people quit on their dream because of the pandemic). Be gentle with yourself...and small steps.😁
Its funny cause every week i make up a 2 page list of what i need to get done on the weekend and evey Saturday i wake up overwhelmed and dont do anything but lay on the couch. Then Sunday I get myself together but don't get much done and I'm agrivated with myself for not getting enough done!
@@juliakristinamah it's a weird thing for me. Everything seams important, like I can't cut anything out. @@juliakristinamah For me, the biggest takeaways were to not dwell on making mistakes because, for example, every time I make one at work I’m learning and improving, and making the proper adjustments! Personally I find it important to identify the source of my feelings of discouragement. If the identified sources are not modifiable - if it is something I cannot do anything about, I learned that the sooner that I accept it, the earlier I can get out of the discouragement zone. Julia's advice on starting small consistent steps helps a lot because these steps not only distracts you from magnifying the nonmodifiable sources of your discouragement, but it also keeps you motivated mentally. Knowing that you are doing something towards your goals help a lot.

Thank you Jesus for this message . I'm watching from India🇮🇳 God bless you 🙏🙏🙏👍👍👍
I’m Back, new to the Shift Society. Need help with discouragement … I don’t like where I am in life. My boys aren’t talking to me and I’m very discouraged., I know I have to wait for them to come back to me but I’m very discouraged and have regret. I know I need to realize me feelings are just my thoughts are just words words in sentences. Ya I am looking back in the past but I have control what I think and I will change them I do grieve what could have been. But I will move forward because I don’t want to sit in the miserable . This is very helpful.
Really needed to hear this, thank you!!
Hi Julia. Thank you for sharing your thoughts here regarding feelings of discouragement. I am a Masters Psyc student searching for practicum, and this pandemic has made this search so very tough. Please continue releasing such amazing and supportive content; it is much appreciated. Cheers.
Very motivating & insightful, thank you! 🙏😌

Wow, this is so helpful, I stumbled across this video and I’m so glad I did. My work is so demanding and often I find myself burnt out and taking things very personal - I have seen another video on this too which I’m watching immediately after posting this. Thanks for sharing this freely.
Its true best to do less. If you over do things. You end up doing nothing. But to slow down. And be refreshed to do small things.
Brilliant video as always, Julia, thank you.

Yep. The Name it and Claim it movement is lying to us. We can do our best and sometimes we dont get what we want even if we work hard for it. Sometimes the process teaches us alot and grows us but we dont get to the finishline where we have that job or that body we wanted or the degree we wanted. We can just do our best.
Brilliant!
