- This is my guide video and explanation on the wet mechanic in Spelunky 2. It's a pretty small and niche mechanic but I’m going to explain what it’s all about. As always, check below for timestamps if you want to skip ahead.

"protects from Fire Damage" NO WAY!
"backpack items WILL STILL EXPLODE" My disappointment is immeasurable, and my day is ruined
This would be revolutionary if:
1) It could save your backpack items
2) There was something like an item that would keep you wet at all times; maybe giving Waddler something like an Idol or Ghost Jar gives you some special item that keeps you damp? Waddler's Goop or something?
As is, this mechanic mainly feels like something for enemies, moreso than the player. Keeps things like Humphead or submerged enemies from taking extra damage from a Powerpack Whip and what have you.
a ghost pot and a camera instantly makes all players wet
@@zypireal so true
So it basically prevents the least bad effect of fire, neat.
Take it you don't wear jetpacks then
@@rossmaclean1940 they’re saying that the fact it only prevents fire damage makes it kinda lame
What a nice and complete guide! I didn't even know that was an actual effect!
Me too
It's neat that this mechanic even exists, I thought the wetness was just a nice visual attention to detail.
Today i decided to watch all of your guides and was pleasantly surprised to find out this one just released, great job, they are really entertaining to watch!
Great video! I actually had no idea this existed until now
Great video/explanation I never would've known about that mechanic.
hey your here
I really like your videos, you do a really good job of explaining mechanics in games! Keep it up bro!!
Edit: how about a video explaining the PowerPack and how it pairs with items??
Nice video!
excellent video, very informative
Even if these situations will very rarely occur, the fact that the mechanic wet-fire was thought by the programmers makes you understand how well made this game is, unbelievable
There is precisely one usage for this "mechanic" which is surviving(?) the TNT explosion underwater.
Great I’ll use this mechanic if I ever get past Olmec
Northernlion definitely wondered out loud if this was real during one of his episodes of this game. Hilarious that it's actually a thing
Sick!
yesterday there was those zombies in tidepool in water and i lost my ankh due to the amount of non hitable hitpoints when it was in the water.
Hi, Utaushio. Can you do a video on stun duration?
Yes, please
i thought it was just a visual effect
god spelunky is so cool
i wonder if backpacks still explode if they fall into water while on fire, maybe the fire is put out
hey there have to be a id (i mean like the cheat engine one) to the "wet" and make backpacks do not explode
Is there a wet rope mechanic? Like ropes thrown out of water or soon after you leave water don't catch fire (maybe for some amount of time)
could you make a video on how to find secret rooms?
I can never find them and i cant vind any videos or threats on how to.
also how do i get the shopkeeper to give me his silver key?
Sadly, this is just trivial knowledge, but this is still cool to know.
*WATER*.
the bringer of L I F E
only possible uses are flaming bodies hitting you doing less damage and dark sunken city levels
But there's no water in new Babylon or Volcana. You'd need a way to stay wet for it to have any use.
You know they got the (literally) drip(ping)
7 minutes of water
amazing
What about a caveman guide for the history books
i didn't no spunky had WAP
Wet ass player?

Okay. But y cant I damage Jiangshi while wet/in water?
You are usually unable to damage enemies by jumping on them whilst you/they are submerged in water
I wonder if this was added just as a little nod to Noita, considering how circumstantial it is.
Bruh packs still explode😭
Oh ok
How is he on older version of the game? (He's on 1.12.1e)
Because it takes time to record and edit a video? This footage is likely from an older version haha
@@lonesup5326 so you're telling me it took him 3-4 months to edit this footage?
@@lilspelunker5613 I have no idea, but if it was me it'd certainly take that long, between all the benders and procrastinating.
@@CactusforceX no way it took him that long, the editing in this video wouldn't take thing long
2:00 ankh at world 2???
Hahaha you noticed! I've recently started using the mod "Overlunky" to assist my guide making. The mod doesn't change any mechanics or interactions so all of the information talked about and shown in the guide is still accurate and correct. The mod basically just allows me to spawn stuff in and get to certain worlds easier so I can record footage much quicker instead of having to play for 4 hours straight looking for a specific spawn or condition
Do torches do fire damage
Yes, when thrown they deal 2 damage total: 1 fore damage and 1 regular damage
time to get wet
Goosen
Doesn't seems very useful but still interesting
let's be realistic, it's a freaking useless feature. The probability of it even happening is like 99% and when it does happen it still just negates 1/2 damage.
It's not very useful, and there's like, literally no reason to take advantage of it, but it's there.
Nice elaborate guide
But this seems the most useless mechanic ever lmao
There's literally no good potential application for it
*Almost unnoticeable and totally useless*
interesting, but not very useful
