The locking the ratchet thing saved my ass. When you don’t have another person to help this is the kind of hacks that makes things happen. Thank you for sharing the knowledge.
OMG, dude if only you knew how long I was laying on my back fighting with this belt. Then I watched your video it took me less than a minute using this technique. You my friend are a life saver. Thank you very very very much.
No problem I’m glad this video helped you. This is why I make these video 👊
Feedback: thank you for the sharing the helpful details, "5 screws for the plastic cover" "turn the tensioner clockwise" ect
Sir you have saved me so much time and trouble. You are my hero right now
PRO TIP: Don’t have to loosen any pulleys just release all tension on tensioner and then slip belt over the smooth water pump pulley. Easy Peasy. I tried on the ribbed idler pulley and it ain’t happening. Goes over the smooth one no problem. Not sure why more people don’t slip it on the smooth pulley last
PRO TIP: I’m about to save you a lot of pain. Get the belt in the proper positioning BESIDES the pulley that’s directly next to the windshield wiper fluid fill cap. Get a flat head to hold it up so it doesn’t fall, while you do that there 3 10mm bolts holding that upper pulley on. Loosen them and slip the belt on it, from there work the bolts back into their proper spots. You can use a flathead to push and use as leverage to help the bolts get in easier. I tried every f*cking imaginable way to get that belt on without doing that and I had no luck. And before you comment, yes I had the tensioner maxed all the way. Enjoy.
It’s the pulley he’s messing with in the video, just take it off and put the belt on and use a flat head to leverage it back on
I read your tip and it’s a life saver! Worked smooth as silk. Thanks so much!
Thank you for the PRO TIP. I had the belt tensioner in the loosened postition and then I removed the two 10mm bolts from the idler pulley next to the winshield wiper fluid filler. I vouch for this trick.
Thanks! I was having a hard time so close to getting it on but couldn't do it until I did what you suggested and then it was a breeze. Really appreciate you taking the time to offer this definite PRO TIP!
Yeah so, I briefly skimmed over your tip and just said "eh I'll figure it out on my own" and so um, that was a mistake. It's much much much easier to do it this way. Thank you.
I havent even started yet, but i think you saved me 3-4 hours 😂 thanks
I just did this without removing the tire, I put the car on ramps since I had other work to do. However removing the tire will allow more room to work with. For those who will do this alone, you might struggle. I tried for hours before figuring it out.
Here are some tips: remove the plastic cover, this will allow more room. Use a breaker bar ( a ratchet one is a plus). I used a 1/2" breaker- it didn't have a ratchet, but still worked. The trick is to get the tool at high enough angle to loosen the tensioner all the way down. There are marker lines on the tensioner, you will have to get all the way to the last marker to get the belt on. Save the water pump pulley for the last, it may be easier. You can put the breaker bar on the notch on the frame, but that may not fully release the tension. I did with one hand on the breaker bar and the other hand adjusting the belt.
Thank you so much for a short and thoroughly informative video!!!
Thanks for the breakdown. Helped me replace the belt after a water pump replacement.
If your belt keeps popping off and its new change the tensioner or idle pulley. I suggest changing them both get under there one time. One bill
Fucking awesome! Thank you, I was dreading doing this myself because there’s little room, but this makes it easy. Thanks buddy!
Not a problem and glad you found this video useful!
Thank you very much sir!
The half of the hoods functionality on these cars comes from behind the passenger wheel well
No problem and thanks for watching!
Yup ! Look no further
This pro tip did it for me
One man job less than 30 mins.
If this doesn't work, then there is another smooth pulley right beneath his that the belt slides onto without having to ride the belt over the serpentines. I couldn't quite get it over the pulley he shows but it slid right onto the smooth pulley below.
Thanks for your input and thanks for watching!
Show pattern
Dude! You are the man!! The belt on my wife's 2010 Ford Fusion broke today and I'm going to use your technique to replace it! Thank, man! That really helped a lot!! I Just subscribed to your channel too!!!;)
Well that helped but still couldn't get over that top pulley so I loosened up said pulley just enough to slide it on, thanks for.the advice.
No problem and thanks for watching!
I did the same
I position the Rachel on the other side of the cv axle and I inserted a large Phillips screw driver through the peg hole where the cover was removed and that will hold the tensioner puley back while you route the belt
Good video! Thanks! Looks pretty tight on this car.
Thank you for watching!
Thank you for this video, Brian.
No problem thanks for watching
Very very good video my brother! Thanks
Quick question. My belt just snapped off yesterday after work and I gotta replace it, thanks for the video btw, but while towing it home the chain broke one of the plugs on the frame under the car. You wouldn’t happen to know where I could get replacements for those plugs would you or what they go to?
me and my dad be struggling for hours tryna figure this shit out. buddy does it in 5 minutes with a cam in his hand for half of it😭
Lmao 🤣
Great tip! Thanks Brian.
No problem thx for watching!
Yo, super helpful video. Keep grinding
No problem and thank you!
Dude did it with one hand. Fuck yeah!! Easy. I just watched this video to help a pretty girl in the autozone parking lot.
lol I hope this video helped you get her number.
Thank you for this video. Any idea how much this would cost to do if I were to take it to a shop and get it done?
No problem, I’d say around $100 - $250 labor depends on the shop.
Great video! Thank you.
No problem!
Hey man thanks for the tips in the video, having trouble finding the correct belt diagram online do you have a link to one by chance? Want to make sure I put it back on correctly. Installing new water pump.
sorry just saw this comment. did you find the diagram?
I need it if you have it. 2012 Ford Fusion
Locking the ratchet was a good tip
My man.great video
Yes sir! Thanks for watching!
Thanks!
You’re welcome!
Neat little trick. Thanks!!!!
Not a problem thx for watching
Had a squeak in this same car and took it in to get fixed. Mechanic fixed it, and 10 miles later the belt came all the way off. Took it in again and just picked it up. Looks like they used the same belt as the first time and the same issue occurred. My driving no more than 3 miles each time. Very upsetting and it’s at a fire dealership! What should I do man? I’ve lost all confidence in this mechanic.
I mean a ford dealership**
Did they mention why the belt came off in the first place?
How do you get those clips off?
yes, looks very easy
Great help, thanks fos sharing
No problem thanks for watching!
thank you that was really helpful
Thanks for watching!
Thanks that worked well
Awesome, thanks for watching.
Thank you very much
No problem!
Buen dia amigo tendra el diagrama? se lo agradeceria
Definitely find someone to just hold the ratchet instead of setting it on the lip. If it slips that is an injury waiting to happen
My belt fell off as well. I’m going to attempt to try again. Unsure why this is happening?
Did it fall off after you installed the new belt?
@@BrianBalatbat Yea it was with the new belt. I ended up getting a new tensioner pulley and so far it has been running fine.
I think the problem was my tensioner pulley was not going back to its original place after taking the wrench off.
Thanks for the video!
Put new tensioner pulley on w new belt from auto zone and the belt is still a little loose? Not sure what problem is
what size ratchet did you use
Broooo you are a life saver lol
Glad this video helped you! Thanks for watching ✌️
Thanks man
Thanks for watching!! 😀
Thank you
No problem thanks for watching ✌️
You got any tricks for how to get the fuckin thing to stay on the pulleys and not keep popping off....
Patience
Why will it slide off when you start it?
Ok i need.to change my tensioner . Only can I change without take my serpentine. Belt off..? Sr
You’ll have to take the belt off to replace the tensioner.
@@BrianBalatbat all the way out or just loose the belt and change of tensioner... you think can I do that only.
Great vid
Thanks!!
Hey what size of belt is the one I’m having so much trouble to find the right size
@@alexescamilla4528 go to the parts store Autozone or advance auto and they should be able to give you the right belt.
Why isn't this working for me? I've. Done it before
I think I’m doin something wrong belt still won’t come on
I need to kn asap.
Where can I buy the belt?? Can you give me the link please
You can get the belt from Autozone or Advance auto, I don’t have the part number sorry.
Thank u man...wish i can treat u to lunch :-)
No worries man glad this video helped you and thanks for watching! 😃
I'm sure he has cash app ;)
I can’t even get it lined up. Is there a certain approach
We’re you able to install if?
It*
@@BrianBalatbat not yet. My hands are too big., The tool I bought is pretty much worthless. Going to try clamps
I'm trying to replace my serpentine belt on my 2011 Fusion. I push the tensioner to max and the belt still won't slip over the pulley. What am I doing wrong!?!?!? 😭
Make sure you followed the belt routing correctly.
@@BrianBalatbat yeah it feels like it's like 1/8-1/4 inch too short.
I don't know if you got the belt on, but I finally figured it out, if was tougher than my Nissan. I also read online that a couple belts brands don't fit correctly.
@@mickey-wq7lb Yeah I got it. Was a pain. I basically took some string and doubled it up under the belt and pulled it on. It wasn't easy but I got it.
What is my problem if I can't get the belt to tighten up
What am I doing wrong. Is it because my Rachet I'm using is short handled. No leverage?
If the belt is not tightening up after you install it then check 3 things.
1 - incorrect belt
2 - make sure the belt routing you followed is correct.
3 - belt tensioner is defective
What exactly is that Rachel you have called?
3/8” extended ratchet
My belt not stay on
🤙🏽🤙🏽🤙🏽
👊
I have a bad squeak from my belt too. 2012 fusion… along with a new belt should anything else be replaced? It looks like a bitch to do and I want the “squeak” to go away!!
If it’s still squeaking after the new belt check your pulley and belt tensioner.
How do I even start?
Follow this video and just take your time with proper tools.
Why the f*** do cars do stupid s*** like this.
Thanks!
Thank you!
