A decent little upgrade and a nice amount of extra power. If you think you will enjoy more speed/power to begin with then the Slash VXL will probably be the best option. For a beginner starting out the brushed 2WD is still a great choice and just upgrade at a later stage as the transmission on the RTR Slash 2WD is brushless ready. Whichever way you choose to do it the slash is an epic platform and very easy to work on. Whether you like the 2wd slash or not, you have to admit it is an extremely versatile platform. People have turned it into basically every kind of vehicle imaginable. Ive had a base 2wd for 10 years and its now a monster beetle on an lcg chassis with rustler arms for width. Its still my favorite of my cars for bashing.
Yes, years ago, my first rc vehicle . I bashed the hell out of it, then up-graded it and bashed it some more but it's still here with me today in LCG form! Appreciate the video!!
i bought my 1st rc exactly 2wd slash, 2nd hand. Its been abused in many ways, held up strong, very little repairs was needed in 2 years. Snow, mud, sand, even salty sea water (friend was driving). Its been converted as Monster slash with wider rpm arms from jato, 32dp jato spur, brushless.. now ongoing 6s speedrun conversion. Its fun car with A LOT of options to do with it.
Those surpass hobbies motors are pretty good for how inexpensive they are. They are one of my favorite budget motors on the market. I've never had one cause any problems, they do get hot but they seem to wear it well.
Good call Ricky, I did the same with the rustler xl5 3000 kv 3s 32 mph and wheelie on demand much better but not crazy. Thanks for your upload mate 👍🙏🐈
I got a slash2wd brushed and have upgraded a lot of things. But this car can take a whoopin. All I do is bash in my backyard with ramps I built. Any way a RC car can be flipped I have done it. It stands up to much abuse. Putting VXL3s next week hope my luck continues.
Love my 2wd. Stick a pair of pro-line trenchers, or badlands, and your handling will be transformed. The standard Traxxas tires have poor traction on dirt.
I wouldn’t mind a brushless motor simply because I use mine In really fine dusty sand so it will be sealed but I want the same speed as the stock brushed motor. However I’m not sure what kv motor would be good
I picked this model up for $100 on marketplace. $50 and two weeks later I have a sick brushless slash for $150. We will see how long the Aliexpress motor and esc last 😂
Are the real trucks 2or4 weel drive and how can you get the rc version's to handle like the real thing with the front inside wheel lifting around corners .
Hmm Maybe I forgot to put that bit in. Biggest reason to get the VXL for the extra money is more performance out the box, faster and saves the hard work of converting. But some people like tinkering on their cars and for beginners starting out on a brushed setup is way better until their skills improve then go brushless. The upgrade process is also a great way to learn!
i love the way the real trucks lift the front inside wheel off the ground in cornering really high. Can you please help me on how to make mine handle like that so my inside weel raises more easily like the real thing. All i cair about is realism not handling for racing. Thank you very much in advance for any HELP of anyone. All the best 👍

Be aware, if you install the Traxxas Velineon 3S system, take note that you'll wiill need the 272R transmission and axle upgrades if you intend to take it to the limit with bashing. It will destroy the stock parts. I know. (Same for the 2WD Rustler.)
Its works good great job. Its just snowed here 10cm even with paddle tires its hard to get out of driveway.. Some days it gets -45 then i still rc all bymyself & I figured out ways to fix for free a machinest from mill builds me parts.
@@beyondRC I have both an xl5 and vxl and I can tell you they have very different materials in each trans. the vxl comes with a metal gear one out of the drag slash magnum 272r. and the xl5 has stock plastic gearing
@JJCat I usually just try driving more to scale and I dont break them as frequently. mostly accelerating gradually and not landing jumps on throttle helps
So this is hobby grade…. Is there anything in the sub $120 range that is Toy grade. Looking to get some for my son and my nephews so we can all ride together without spending to much on something they could potentially lose interest in. I have a slash 2wd but think its too much for them
I did this with the arrma senton. I feel after driving them they are super close. The traxxas does have better handling in turns especially in dirt. BUT the arrma has it on landings, it can take a roll and fall out of it no problem. And sorry i didnt like the losi 😅.

Incredibly versatile! I think I will try new tires and the low CG Chassis!

Starting with a lcg chassis I'm about $1100 in,but she a tough beast
100%

I have an 1/8th brushless in a highly modified traxxas magnum transmission I moded myself. Steel halfshafts, aluminum diff. Extreme power on demand.
I put the hobbywing BL120 V.2 into mine. 4S on 3300kv 3660 was great. But the rear driceshafts couldn't do it. But with monster truck tires its sick.

I run my senton on a 2750kv and on 3s it goes like a rocket. And that's with a smaller 15t pinion too.
Yep slash is awesome for everyone, beginner to a pro, so many options and upgrades!!!
100% Agree

What's the most realistic short corse truck what raises the inside front wheel when turning really high like the real thing .

Did you miss a bit out regarding why should you buy this over the vxl version? Then went quiet 👍

Hi Peter. Very easy to do. all well mate hope you and yours are too. Cheers Rick
I run a mamba x 3800kv 4s its pertty tooooo op cant do a full straight away without the car lifting in the air

What's the difference between the rtr n vxl
What kind of top speed are you getting with this motor upgrade?
How does the stock plastic transmission holdup to the extra power and heat
perfectly fine. The 2wd slash is equipped with the same brushless ready transmission out of the VXL.
@@beyondRC I have both an xl5 and vxl and I can tell you they have very different materials in each trans. the vxl comes with a metal gear one out of the drag slash magnum 272r. and the xl5 has stock plastic gearing
@@rileyhance318 it comes with the magnum 272 transmission not the 272R but im sure this will hold up. Time will tell

I am 3D printing some giant new tires for my Traxxas slash 2WD and converting it to brushless. the tires are 150mm tall and 80mm wide.

I think this would be amazing on a track compared to the senton but the senton is the better basher!
Is this in brentwood?
Chelmsford :)
@@beyondRC ok cheers mate. It was bugging me lol. Theres a bit like that near king georges park thats good for RC cars 👍
Ive had nothing but problems with 3 in a row of those cheap esc motor kits they get way too hot way too fast
thats some bad luck right there. Never had any issues myself :/
