The goal of these videos is to showcase the possibilities with MIDI instruments these days. I openly say that I want to emulate the official mix (which was done by Buster) and that I recommend everyone check out the NTM because I got for instance the downshifting blend from there. My point is: If the goal is emulation then of course I take inspiration from the official mixer, when mixing a track from scratch it's a different story when it comes to sonic identity. Maybe this guitar tone fits there as well, but probably not.
Holy crap, with the whole mix together, side-by-side with the official mix, if I hadn't watched the whole video leading up to that, I wouldn't have known it was midi/vst instruments... Damn good job man, I'm so looking forward to learning how to mix/master.
Great tutorial! The Skyfall synth sounds very much like The Prodigy... I like the electronic touch some metalcore bands have nowadays (some absolute butcher it though). I used to listen A LOT to goa/psy/progtrance during the 90´s and 00´s together with early metalcore and prog metal. :D
Mattias, I love your content! You do phenomenal work, you certainly inspire me when using these tools. I love that you’re promoting the use of these virtual instruments and demonstrating how powerful they can be. I’m all for de stigmatizing virtual instruments! And I completely understand the importance of using a catchy video title, or “click bait” but I gotta say it’s a little disappointing/ discouraging to see this method of writing music referred to as fake. I think in the same context terms like 100% midi or programmed, or virtual would be more appropriate. That said please continue what you’re doing because I love these videos! Sounds fantastic man!!
The only reason I don't get my music out there is because as a drummer, vst is all I got. Been using vst guitar/bass since forever and I don't complete my projects or mix them properly out of fear that I'll get caught using them. Some articulations like strumming sound too virtual even on Hydra. What would you say? Could vst modern metal have a chance out there without anyone notice?
For certain styles of music, in particular low tuned stuff I think that VST can sound good enough to publish. That being said a good guitarist will always sound better and add some personality to the sound. So my advice would be to find a guitarist to collaborate with (like in forums on Facebook for instance) but not letting it hold you back from getting music out there even if you don't immediately find someone. It's better to get stuff out IMO, that will help people to find you interesting to work with. The worst that can happen is that people don't like it and hey, that doesn't matter really 🤷♂️
Hey, you are getting better at doing videos like these, thanks a lot! One question - do you ever have crashing problems when working with Cubase? Apparently I decided to switch to Reaper, because no matter what I do, Cubase 12 crashes and just turns off like once every 30min (mostly when editing something while the tracks are playing). Btw, mention your name somewhere cause we are gonna start calling you Mo.
Everybody calls me MO already so I don't mind that ;) Can you check the crash file and see what is causing the crash? It's usually a specific plugin that causes crashes like that, CPU overload or something similar typically don't crash Cubase in my experience. Check this link: forums.steinberg.net/t/how-to-analyse-cubase-crash-dumps-on-windows/784142
@@MOMetalProductions Thanks! To my understanding it can be basically any plugin, for example GGD Cali cabs cause the crash very often, but I mean come on, I want to use any plugin whatsoever. It always creates a backup so it's not big problem, but I noticed the project file might get corrupt after a large numbers of crashes so it's not really workable for me anymore.
@@vaidotasdarulis I see! Still that sounds like a plugin related bug, but they can vary from DAW to DAW so if Reaper works better for those, go for it 😊
Wow drums, bass and guitar sound insanely good and close to the original. However the synths just sound super wrong I'm afraid:( You should check Nick Mavromatis UA-cam channel on how to get synth tones like these, he's a production God. I'm sure I've seen him mentioning Silent Planet too on one of his videos
Hey man! Can you please send an email to mometalproductions@gmail.com where you detail 1. Your level of experience 2. What are your concrete expectations for a lesson? If you want consultation on a mix, please send that as well.

you did an amazing job - but as a home recording artist, it's disheartening how much you have to spend on plugins to get really great sounding mixes and stuff. I've spent thousands and I'm closer than I've ever been but damn does it add up.
"just do what buster does and it'll be fine" literally everyone rn
literally haha bros guitar chain is plugin for plugin on busters guilt nail the mix😂😂

It's amazing how close this sounds to the real thing, awesome work 🔥
Its satisfaying the fact you do the video i want, very great channel 🙏
Thanks a lot man!
I really love your videos man. Simple steps to understand how you built your guitar tone and MIDI vst. Thanks a lot for that!

Absolutely based band pick, this was actually my favorite album of last year and it was that insane guitar and bass tone that made it for me.
dude !! same
Definitely in my top 3 best albums and would’ve never thought so!
God damn, I love your videos man. Always so informative and give me lots of new ideas to try out in my own production
this was on another level! great great content.
daaaaaaaamn man, you are AMAZING!!!!
new sub, new like, new bell active.
im gonna dive in to your videos!!
This is soooo amazing! Thank you !
this is what im here for man! great job

I definitely agree!@@MOMetalProductions
Man you're too good... Love your channel!
It’d be nice to see you try and tackle loathe’s tone
Agreed
Nice to see more people using the ANA 2. I use it on pretty much every track.
hello could you please go into more depth at some point around programming the guitars. thanks
massive mixing \m/ very realistic

@@vaidotasdarulis not regularly no. Occasionally a new plugin has a bug that causes issues, them I either update it if available or stop using it.
Wow! Where i can purchase your project? Like Icarus lives on your patreon,..

In patreon you upload the full midi process?
Mo, do you do one on one mix-training?
Hey man! Can you please send an email to mometalproductions@gmail.com where you detail

Snare sounds a little different than in the other video, did you change things up for that a little bit as well?
excellent. insta sub
Youre going to be famous one day. Also, you’re poor CPU😢
Me and my CPU have an abusive relationship 😂
Great!
Guitars in the original track do seem to have significantly more machine-gun like character, imo
Better than the original mix as always 🥇
Hey man you do private lessons?

hmmm i think this synth was made by guitar clean + reverb+volume pedal. but work amazing. so much effects
Interesting! I didn't know that 😊
but slide he doesnt play
yeah, the synths definitely lacked some subtle delay and reverb

You can pirate at least 90% of all these plugins, just saying. Even Neural DSP if you're on Windows.
🔥
The amount of plugins you use is genuinely hilarious
It’s copying Buster Odeholm, who has a crazy signal change
very realistic tho!
Nice one, I would prefer your mix tbh.
😎🤘
Your Snare sounds way more Fat than the original 😂
