53:55 - How did you manage to come up with the tom fills in Architecture of a Genocidal Nature?
54:35 - When you were in Dimmu, it seems the drums are a bit more extreme on Puritanical than on Armageddon: did the band ask you to lighten up or was that a collective direction for a more modern sound?

"90% of the drummers are doing the same thing" fuckin BINGO. You see all of these bands who go through multiple drummers and you can't even tell there was a member change. After Nick leaves a band, they never sound the same again. Like when Emperor did festivals with Faust instead of Trym and it sounded like an important ingredient was missing.

Nick, there’s so many fans that noticed your talents in cradle way before dimmu and you seem way too humble to realise you were already a god before puritanical or death cult. I’m not sure if in hindsight these bands recognised this or not but man you can beat a skin and it’s just butter straight up. You are one of those people that can take a band from clubs to stadiums just on your knowledge, commitment and natural ability to produce something that not only works but blows minds over and over. I salute you for your morals and approach to music and the industry, you have been part of almost every one of my favourite albums in the last 30 years. Thank you for sharing with us and much love.

Man, I'd love to have a jam and a bong with Barker. I feel like the guy is wasting his years without a proper band to write and play good music with. Don't get me wrong, his work with LockUp, Twilight of the Gods and Ancient was great, but what I truly miss is the delicacy and tastefulness of his older work. Even in The Principle Of Evil Made Flesh there's this catchy-ness in his drumming that's so inspiring, despite not being the most technical or fast drumming out there (far from it)... But it just worked. His drums sounded MUSICAL above all else.
Nick, get in touch with Anstis and fucking make some music together already! Or get in touch with me and I'll fly to England and play with you LOL

We really were warriors, laughed at until we werent, standing and holding onto a seemingly dying art form. And i as a drummer feel very honored by nick to say that the ideas must be first and then the skill not only the latter. I really try to express myself also on thin ice, sometimes people would call me whiny when i do rock songs, and sometimes i hope they are affraid !(metal songs)

Great Nick Barker Story...About 9 yrs ago Lock Up toured the US with Goatwhore...around Valentines Day was the set at the Al Rosa Villa in Columbus, Oh. It wasn’t very full venue, but possibly one of the best shows I’ve ever seen. Long story short, about half way through Lock Up’s set someone in the crowd yells, “FASTER!”, to which Nick’s response was, “I Can’t!”. It was plenty fast and plenty awesome but hearing his voice come from behind the kit combined with that statement was hilarious! Cheers!!! 🍻

I also stopped listening after Nicks last album. Dimmu went really poor after Nick left. I met Nick in Birmingham XLs nightclub. He was really cool and massive respect to him

48:55 Shagrath actually did not like the mix of spiritual black dimensions either, Shagrath and Astennu went back into the studio to remix it and make it more "washy". According to Silenoz the rest of the band like the original master better, but that first master never got released.

Mich better than the last interview. You let him complete his thoughts and didn't interrupt so frequently. Too bad there are literally 22 advertising breaks in the video. Geez! A world record! Little yellow dashes across the whole stream!

      1) There was a delay during both interviews so it's hard to manage that and this time I had a better understanding of how he speaks and was able to prepare. If you ever try to conduct an interview online, you'll run into the same problems and then you're going to realize really fast how hard it is to have a flowing conversation.
      2) I have no control of the ads and how they are placed on UA-cam.

Just curious, why was Nick let go from Dimmu? And, I can't believe they are going to remix their best album. Leave it alone.

Lack of transparency of what was happening in the band, especially with payments and expenses.

He didn't answer the question about his fee. A lot of people would like to know that, at least the general band width.

As I understood it, it would basically depend on the band, the size of the project, it's difficulty, etc. Also would have to factor in studio time, etc., all those things. It's hard to quote a price like that without any real concrete details

I get the sense that he has not received enough recognition and attention that he deserves. While we all know what a legendary drummer he is, I kinda feel he lacks self-confidence sadly.
