How to Diagnose Codes P0440 or P0455 Using Visual Inspection

Sometimes EVAP codes can be tricky to diagnose. After determining what codes the vehicle has it's recommended to perform a good visual inspection. Especially since a majority of the evap components are connected with plastic and rubber lines. We quickly found the large evap leak on the Volvo in this video by just doing a good visual inspection. It's not always that easy but in some cases pays off.

Thank You Guys!!!! I've gotten a P0455 code also. People just tell me to look towards the fuel tank, and nothing else. Even the online website for Volvos doesn't have pictures to show you. Now I can just peak under the car and put a new hose and fix the problem.

im happy to see some of this code problems are easy to find so my next job is to find that small leak on a nice warm day this week weather looks good to work outside don't have a garage thanks for your help.

I changed the EGR valve and the pressure sensor and now it shows me the code P0455. it says system of control of the emissions by evaporation pressure gauge important leak help please tank's

Had it to the mechanics 6 times they did smoke test. Purge valve., Leak section pump, OEM gas cap was a a leak cap P 0457 But after I replaced the MAP sensor now it's throwing P0440. 2005 pt cruiser touring non turbo ... Snow will fly soon need help here. Could it be the throttle body gasket?

i have a 2001 blazer same generation probably your purge valve solenoid or did u get it fixed easy test dc the hose from nipple and power start truck on cold if u feel vacum when cold idle its bad
