What advice would YOU give to your younger self? Let's start a thread 👇🏻

"Put your own mask on first, then assist another." (airplane rule also applies to life). To my younger self, I would say, "Take care of yourself first, then you'll be in a better position to assist others." 😉

Same thing happened to me yesterday over the photocopier at the Warehouse print desk. I DID get her number and hope to develop a connection. We both play the piano & got chatting about the music book she was copying a piece out of. She gave it to me at the end of our conversation! I just love making connections like that, it's always happening to me because I talk to anybody. One of the joys of life.

Your a great interviewer, you ask excellent questions. My grandmother passed at 98. She was independent and sharp. She had seen it all invented except the train. Born in 1902 she went thru both World Wars n in the second all three sons were drafted n served yheir country. All 3 survived. She went thru the Korean n Vietnam war. Saw from electricity to the space shuttle. Lived in the time of Thomas Edison n Henry Ford she had SO MUCH Life knowledge. She passed in year 2,000. That was her goal to see the turn of the centuary
She did it ! She passed away 2 months later in February. What a life i miss her. But it seems like i constantly tell her Grandma you were right again lol. Rememberimg our conversations about differant things lol. I cant remember one time that she told me wait n see if she wasnt right 😊. The country is missing out by throwing away our seniors. My Grandma came n lived with me at 88 i think because she needed to have someone around to help her, more like keep up with her lol. She still cooked, cleaned, n did laundry. What a super granny 😊

Amazing video A month ago, my partnership of five years came to an end. The choice to break up with the person I love is something that really gets to me. Even though it's all for nothing, I've done everything I can to get him back, and I couldn't imagine my existence without him. I've tried everything to stop thinking about him, but I still can't help but miss him and think about him often. I don't know why I am saying this here.

At 73 I appreciate her insight. She didn't get where she went by planning. Some people think 'follow your dreams' means have a big goal for the distant future. When she said listen to your gut, that's what it means. I look back at my life and some might say I've been impulsive. But when life offers you an opportunity it's often only available right now, when your gut is telling you what to do. If you're stuck with your head down scheming to reach a distant goal you'll miss those moments. One thing I differ with is her belief that staying social sustains us in old age. I'm an introvert and live alone in the bush. Making stuff, learning, enjoying nature, being an elderly piano beginner... these are what gets me up in the morning.

I think the most important message from this video for young people is to know that you are not a failure if your plans don't work out. When life pointed her in different directions, she accepted it... Say to yourself "well, let's see what THIS change is about." It is ok for life to be made up of trying different things and them not working out. Life is what we are missing when we are planning for it. "We plan, God laughs".

Am 58 retiring next year but the thought of retirement gives me weakness. My apologies to everyone who have retired and filing social security during this time after putting in all those years of work just to lose everything to a problem you never imagined to happen. It’s so difficult for people who are retired and have no savings or loved ones to fall back on.

    • @ChristianKelv
      @ChristianKelv 2 дні тому +3

True, It has never been easier to understand how to build your money after retirement than it is right now with the inflation, when you may study and experience a completely variegated market passively by employing a successful portfolio-advisor. The impacts of the U.S. dollar's gain or fall on investments, in my opinion, are complex.

People often overlook the value of financial advisors until they experience the downside of emotional decision-making. I recall a few summers ago, after a difficult divorce, when I needed help reviving my struggling business. I did some research and found a licensed advisor who worked diligently to grow my reserves, even amid inflation. As a result, my reserves grew from $285k to around $720k.

Unfortunately, not all of us were financially literate early. I was 35 when I finally educated myself and started taking steps. I went from $176,000 in debt with zero savings or retirement to now, 2 years later, fully debt-free and over $1000,000 net worth. I know that doesn't SOUND like a lot, but I'm incredibly proud of it. Now I'm fast-tracking my wealth building (investing $400,000 annually) and don't owe a dime to anyone. It's a good feeling!

How do you handle it if your family is still pushing you to live with them and help them an old age and not have your own life? I'm the only child and I'm being pushed and prodded to come back home and I don't want to… So feel very guilty about that.
I want them to come where I am and live with me for a change, nearby, but they won't do it .

Thank you for this interview. The older generation can be overlooked at times, as if they have nothing to contribute to society.
Wisdom is priceless but gained through the years of different experiences.
Sadly I have recently found myself saying 'I am glad I am on my way out not coming in'.
I have to say the changes I have seen in the last 60+ years have been incredible. I have to agree that seeing people looking down on their phones is one of the saddest things I see in our communities.
Things certainly have to move on but when you live your life through a mobile phone something is out of kilter with what life should be about.
What advice would I give to my younger self? Continue enjoying nature, stop chasing 'happiness' and it will come to you in the smallest of ways.

I think committing to personal growth your entire life is the difference. And yes, persevering beyond obstacles is a huge part of that.

I have told my partner if he wants to talk to me he can call me anytime of the day or middle of the night, im always there to listen and no matter which voice and which number he calls, i will know it is him. If he wants sometime for himself, do his unfinished work, he can go on. He can take his time. He can basically do anything that won't be troublesome or questionable in our relationship going forward if he really want this relationship to turn into something in future otherwise he can do according to his free will without considering me and we can be friends.

57 years. Be still, and take time for yourself so you can be there for others. Draw close to the Lord if you’re a Christian, and if not a believer now is the time . Jesus Christ died for your sins, and God raised him on the 3rd day, and he’s coming back again soon. Another thing… this beautiful 90 year old is right when she says don’t be too busy, and on your phones/ I pads all day. Look at people in the stores, on the streets, wherever you are and smile at them. I try to do that with people and most of the time they look straight ahead and seem very uncomfortable and unfriendly with my eye contact which says a lot.

Great video. I live in an older condo in Pattaya (a 5-minute scooter ride to the beach). It is all concrete, so the rooms are quiet (I have a video of the condo). I am on the ninth floor, so the sunsets are great, and I do not have much trouble with mosquitoes or road noise. We have a large pool with a slide. There is a restaurant by the pool; most meals are 3-7 dollars. My rent is $207/month. I have a new wall unit A/C, that I run 24/7 and my electric bill is $30/month. My room is 270 square feet or 30 square meters. It has plenty of room for a single guy. I have no plans to move back to the States.
