- One of the cities largest homeless encampments in the city just a few blocks from the White House was cleared out by the police and city officials. I also chased fire trucks intentionally and just sort of ran into some.

I would hope that they found a place, for these homeless people to go. After destroying what little shelter they had. What is happening to this country. They take care of the illegals better than the American people.
From watching other cover the homeless in other cities, most dont like the shelters because they have rules. You have to be in by a certain time, no drugs, smoking, drinking, etc.
@@trish2179 Some shelters separate you from your family or your pets. And you shouldn't have to have a curfew if you go to a shelter. In some shelters, you risk becoming a violent crime victim of assault, or having your property stolen. I would like to see some anti-homeless police officers show the public their patrol logs so that the public can see how much time they spend making homeless people move, vs. how much time they spend patrolling homeless shelters and protecting homeless people.

😢 I don't pretend to know the answers to our homeless population and the issues they face. But I have to say it's really sad to see the work crews throwing away all of their tents and belongings. I would not be able to do that job. 😒

Wrong. Engine compartment fire on a gasoline-fueled sedan. EV vehicles typically burn from inside the passenger compartment. The batteries are between the wheels and under the passenger compartment or the trunk.
I have the upmost respect for firefighters. They run towards flames while we run away. God bless and keep them safe.
Imagine all of your possessions loaded up into dump trucks. Distressing for those dispossessed and those doing the dispossessing. Where will they go? Where will they call home?
So disturbing to see the homeless camps and then to see them destroyed like that. I wonder how they have such expensive tents etc ? Where were the homeless people ? Such a sad commentary of these times .
Drugs kill and ruin lives.
Homelessness is a social issue. We have many in my community of 100,000. If their caught sleeping in the car ramps, their fined. Drug and alcohol is why they don't go to the shelters. Even in the winter they have to leave the shelter until evening. Working in a Community Garden I coordinated the extra produce to the Community Table where one nutritious meal is served 365 days a year. Very sad situation.
They closed down all of the mental hospitals, put people out on the streets who could not live out in the public, the vets, need help and housing is so expensive, and hard to find, what do they expect. The drugs and alcohol, they are add ons to the problems in this country right now.
And it's an economic and political issue. How do govts elect to spend their (your) money? Raw capitalism rests on a base of poverty.

Securely use the official collection box to vote, and get it taken care of. I've unexpectedly had ambulance crews hospitalize me 3 times, and if that had occurred on election day, I would not have been able to vote.

How difficult would it be to invest 100 billion and some shelter for these people nationwide and then put another hundred billion in the market as a trust fund to support them instead of sending billions and billions to other nations across the globe

The homeless camps are sad...with no viable place to go for Americans...those tents aren't cheap,especially when you are down and out...if they can't house these people they should give them someplace to be?!

The local government and the National Park Service worked together to clear out the homeless area. The trash collection trucks were from the D.C. government. I observed some civilian employees from the National Park Service. Penguin Six also mentions the park police, who work for the National Park Service.

When did the encampments start in DC? Is that new or something that’s gone on for a long time? Seems they come in packs. Sad.
In the late 60s, maybe before, the relatively few homeless people then "camped" out on their favorite steam grate. The few around the State Dept were known and greeted daily by employees hustling to their jobs at any one of the govt bldgs nearby.

You would be a nervous wreck inside of a year, with all those horns, lights, and sirens going off 24/7.
On the other hand, they might be very close if you had an emergency.

Human Services definitely needs an overhaul, in many areas...they provide too many temporary fixes that don't lead to permanancy...it's a revolving door...some people do choose that lifestyle, but others want to get ahead but can't find a break out of the system, so they give up...

The electric cars use Lithium-Ion Technology batteries which is the same batteries hobbyist who fly remote control airplanes use. I have been charging a battery which puffed up then the thing split open in the center spewing sparks in the air as I ripped the charger plug out of the wall. I ran down the steps with the battery still spewing sparks. It made a place on our wooden floor. I finally got the charger with battery still attached thrown in the middle of the yard. There is no warning when this battery blew up. Just think how close this car battery is to your crown jewels! Very dangerous.

Stop there are homeless people all over the US and if you were listening he said they refuse to go to shelters.
Maybe we cld design KOA campgrounds with tents, camp shelters, showers, camp stores, tiny houses, and onsite work jobs. Why not? And design it to meet the needs expressed by those who will live there.

They're all notified weeks in advance. So it's not a surprise to any of them. Happens here in Butte County weekly. They just move to another eviction spot for a few weeks. And life continues. Sucks that They're not willing to utilize the programs available.idk

The Rock Creek Parkway camps are next to Georgetown, but they will be cleared shortly.

Why would they not want to go to a shelter?
Rules, no alcohol, drugs etc. Not like in San Fran and LA where the homeless get happy hour with free booze.
One of the reasons they give is that others in the shelter steal their things.

The tents are bought and paid for by some non-profit of some sort. A lot of people keep wondering where the tents come from, there are so many real nice tents, not cheap ones.
