- A UPS driver was shot and killed while sitting in his truck Thursday afternoon at an industrial park in Irvine, and the suspected gunman was arrested during a standoff, police said.

Crazy these days because I'm a utility worker and I've noticed that neighborhoods that have alleys are much more dangerous then in suburban areas that have no alleyways.
Strangers approach in the alleys asking for money. Whereas in suburban areas with ( private right of way). strangers don't walk up. Blocking an alley can be dangerous, one time we had downed lines shorting out and set up tape to block off the alley and a carjacker being chased turned up the alley, and floored it. He hit the bucket truck at 70 mph causing the 13Kv primary we were supporting to break loose. It dropped down and welded through his car slicing him in half.

Amazing people like this can just take someone's life like that. What is going on in this country. I don't remember delivery drivers being stalked, mugged, shot at, and even killed just doing their jobs, like I'm hearing these days. It's already a high stress job as it is, now they have to be worried about people like this. Then this guy has the nerve to not give it, while in his in vehicle, as though the police are just going to go away. I wish society would make a huge change in getting tough on crime. Per another commenter who stated that he was the victim's coworker, the killer was the victim's cousin. So it was a targeted killing.
RIP to the UPS driver and condolences to his family. Who was in tactical command of the units deployed to go after the shooter. They tear gas and pepper the suspect, open fire on the vehicle, and at some point, send the canine into the vehicle ; to either catch one from friendly fire, or be overcome by the gas.Questions of the timeline during apprehension should be interesting. Announcers seem to go for the Pulitzer prize of announcing, but over sensationalize in their attempts. We could have done without what the victims blood was doing.
