Weird answer but, I think the best PS1 Game is "Demo Disk". We were able to see so many games through a demo disk and the ability to know what we were buying before we got it was really nice as well.
Metal Gear Solid. It's still the game I come back to the most out every game on the PS1.
I personally loved Parasite Eve for Playstation, but its because I read the book first. Greater appreciation for the material. Also that xenophobic cop getting toasted so quickly is always hilarious
Not sure if it's the best, but Syphon Filter 2 allowed an 8-year-old me to set people on fire with a taser, so it gets my vote.
Best PS1 game was Castlevania: Symphony of the Night
This dudes got the right answer.
Amazing soundtrack, too.
I feel like anyone that didn't like DMC: Devil May Cry, didn't actually play it. Just judged the game based on the, admittedly horrible decision of 10 second scene with the mop head/wig in the first level
Days gone was one of the first victims of the current era of game journalism.
Oh Man! Terminator: Resistance is a game, I WISH I had been smart enough to buy at full Release price, because while janky at times, it would certainly have been worth it at launch. That's why I picked up RoboCop: Rouge City without a second thought, made by the same dev's Teyon and it did not dissapoint in anyway.
Fun Fact: It's the same dev, who made the On-rails-shooter Rambo game, before they made Terminator: Resistance, which is such a leap in quality, it's hard to imagine they were the same dev's.
Best PS1 game has to be one of the final fantasy games. 7 and 9 are phenomenal on their own. 9 is prettier while 7 is overall the better game. 8 also exists.
The greatest PS1 game of all time is Parasite Eve. The seamless blend of Square’s RPG architecture, real time combat, a haunting soundtrack, and Japanese horror.
Just like corporate greed, all these "professional reviewers" are one of the worst problems in video games.
I’d never played a devil may cry game. Thoroughly enjoyed DmC 👍
As someone who played DMC1,3, 4, 5 AND DmC, the main sin of that game is belonging to the Devil May Cry franchise, game is fun the "edgy emo" vibes are kind of there in a more mocking way and the conspiracy theory story is meant to be silly and fun which it is, had it been a completely new franchise people would have received it a lot better
I loved dragon age 2, probably because it was my first DA game. Looking back, objectively it was probably a low point, but I'll always love it for introducing me to the series.
Best ps1 game has to go to medieval! I could get lost for hours as a kid in that game and the remake just hit that sweet nostalgia hard
It still seems crazy to me that Final Fantasy 7 was originally on the playstation 1. My brothers recorded cut scenes on VCR to rewatch because we were so in awe of the graphics back then.
Best PS1 game Legend of Dragoon and the Suikoden 1 and 2 games (Dang it, when will the remaster release this year?!).
Metal gear solid, all day every day, twice on Sunday. Every other game is second place or lower.
Best PS1 game is hands down Legend of Dragoon!! Amazing addition system, fantastic design and fun story!
Agreed, I still have my OG copy.
@@LoopsPls me too! And my original gray memory card!!
Hell yeah!!!
Mid. All it really had were pretty graphics (for the time). Otherwise, it's a linear, trope-laden snoozefest. Legend of Legaia was waaaaaaaaaaay better.
As much as I love Resident Evil 1 and 2 on PS1 Grand Turismo 2, Metal Gear Solid. So many great games. The best would probably have to be Final Fantasy 7.
My favorite PS1 game was Vib Ribbon. I’m in the US and it was a Japanese title, so you’d need a modified PS1 to play it, but it was such an amazing game. Vib Ribbon was a 2D rhythm game - the graphics were basically white-on-black animated line drawings. It was so fun and refreshing, and the music was great.
Best ps1 game Final Fantasy Tactics I put an obscene amount of time in it and would do it again
Actually was one of the few that liked The Last of Us 2 when it came out.
Days gone is 100 percent my pick. Love the video and the channel!
It's hard to say what the best PS1 game is because most of the good ones aren't strictly PS1 games any more, they've all been remastered/ported. So I'm going to pick one that I really want remastered: Digimon World 3/ Digimon World 2003.
As to your Diablo entry, you missed one of the biggest things about what broke it, resistance (which is VITAL for some classes) was completely broken.
One of the reasons why I dont take reviews seriously, especially now, whenever it comes to movies or games, is because its all opinions. Its just that someone is getting paid to right theirs. But whats worse nowadays, is that movies and games are panned for being fun, and not having lengthy deep narratives. Fun is a bad thing. The fact is, critics have a job where they need to right a long op piece, and they cant do that on a game/movie thats just fun. They need something that going to give them something long and drawn out to right about and dissect. For me, I prefer the fun over everythiing else.
Best PS1 is also my favorite game of all time: Legend of Dragoon. In an era filled with turn-based games, Legend of Dragoon found a cool way to incorporate an interactive combat system while also telling an amazing story.
Megaman Legends 1 & 2
Never forget what Capcom took away from us......
For "Best of PS1" I'd vote either Final Fantasy 9 (suck it 7, 9 is better!) or Armored Core Project Phantasm
I spent hours playing Sheep Raider on PS1. What a bizzarely difficult videogame clearly marketed toward children. Love that game though.
Breath of Fire 3
Loved the dragon gene splicing!
Best PS1 game for me was Tekken 2. One of my first ever gaming experiences and still one of my most enjoyed.
There are so many great games on the PS1 but my two favorites are Final Fantasy VII and Final Fantasy Tactics. This is so hard because Resident Evil 2, Metal Gear Solid, Parasite Eve, Vagrant Story, and so many others exist but I bought the console FOR Final Fantasy VII and got a treasure trove.
My favorite PS1 game: Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, followed closely by Vagrant Story.
The best? How could we not say Final Fantasy VII? Or, if you are anti-FF, Metal Gear Solid?
Best Ps1 game was Crash Team Racing. It appealed to everyone and forced Nintendo to go back to the drawing board with Mario Kart.
Best PS1 game, as much as I want to say Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain... I'll have to say Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver. I mean the game had no loading screens outside of the title screen, it was one of the first games to utilise level streaming, it had a stellar voice cast and the whole mechanic of warping between the spirit world and real world to alter your environment allowing traversal through areas and to solve puzzles. It was unlike anything else at the time.
It still to this day bothers me about the mass effect ending as well as the fact it will be another 5 years at best till their might be new releases
DMC is a great game gameplay wise. Think they shot themselves in the foot with marketing but if you pick it up and play it, the mechanics are solid and probably the best in a DMC game up until that point.
Best PS1 game has to be Resident Evil 2
Final Fantasy Tactics is my favorite PS1 game ever. One of the few games I completed multiple times
Great games already in the comments. So thinking of a different one that deserves a top spot for the PS1: Spider-Man
OMG, best PS1 game...... that is a hard question to answer. For the stealth genre, Tenchu: Stealth Assassin, or MGS. This was also the innovative prime of Square with FF7, FF9, Vagrant Story and Parasite Eve (Deep Cuts there Jules), FF Tactics, and Xenogears. Gran Turismo 2 was the GOAT for console driving sims at the time. There was also Crash Bandicoot for the platformer love.
Spyro year of the dragon was and is my fav for the og ps
There's a certain SNES RPG that's dear to me. But it's not Final Fantasy.
love this channel
For me, the best PS1 game is Xenogears. It had such an engaging story and a wonderful twist on the usual jrpg turn based combat with the action point system and the inclusion of gears~
A strong contender is Valkyrie Profile ✨
What people should take away from this is how badly you can poison reception by trying to reinvent the wheel with a sequel.
Anyway for best PS1 game that is easily Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. It spawned the "Metroidvania" portmanteau and still stands up to this day.
Symphony of the Night, for sure!
Final fantasy 7
The best ps1 game is The Legend of Dragoon. Hands down, no debate. Even the re-release on PS5 is a masterpiece.
Crash bandicoot warped is hands down the best ps1 game spent way too many hours of my childhood on that
Best ps1 game? Legends of Dragoon
lots of people will say final fantasy 7 or 8, but let's have some symphony of the night
Best PS1 game: Spyro the Dragon - unique platformer with level designs that encouraged you to charge and race through (and seriously, that charge attack feels SO good), a wonderfully charming atmosphere, boppin' soundtrack, and perfect length that isn't bloated by a bunch of mini-games or extra characters.
Reviewers receive a different version of games, one without cash shops and microtransactions and paid DLC. All these things are added later in the retail version. It's super scummy.
Best PS1 game has to be FF9.
The story was weird and heart-warming, the cutscene cinematics were gorgeous, and the mechanics were varied and made sense within the world. Still one of my favourite games of all time, and I'm not even a huge Final Fantasy or JRPG fan.
For me it's probably still Final Fantasy VII, that game was a masterpiece!
Tenchu - Stealth Assassins
I love play both Last of Us games and I love the show. Both are amazing to me. I can understand the hate, but I feel like Last of Us Part 2 and even the show itself is both overhated. If you truly understand the story and see the beauty of it. You will love it. I love it because before playing Last of Us Part 1 on PS5. I had Part 2 as the game that I preferred playing, but I say both are my prefer playing. I love everything in Part 1, while I love how much you can do in Part 2. At this point. I love Part 2 because of the gameplay. I know the story is important in the games, but I can careless about it. Doesn't help that I am someone cares way more for Gameplay than it is Story.
That's great! ❤❤❤❤❤
Vagrant Story, best PS1 game!
best ps1 game of all time could be any on these three games: Metal Gear Solid, Final Fantasy 7, or Resident evil 1 or 2 (you decide which is better)
I just wish "critics" would use the same bars for every game. Most of the critiques of, say Days Gone, I believe belong wholeheartedly to Breath of the Wild (minus maybe the zombie stuff). Objectively speaking, it was a generic open world action game, with barely a story that was wildly unimaginative, incredible tonal dissonance, and mechanics like breaking a weapon every 5 seconds. But - because it's Nintendo, and Zelda, all of that was overlooked. Days Gone, IMO, was a vastly more entertaining game than BotW was. But reviewers gotta placate the mass hype and grade on a scale. It's sad.
Omg I completely agree. While first time playing BOtW was amazing I couldn’t ever bring kykaekf to play it again
I think we have reached a point, where we need to divide reviewers up, so that they take on the same Genre of games over and over, rather than a large variety. Not sure if feasible, but that is the only way, I can see us getting rid of this issue, comparing games by their genre.
@@chriswihulu sadly that’ll never happen. In this day and age people and more importantly media cannot help themselves comparing and talking about the best and worst games of the year and basically ignoring everything in between. Even if they haven’t played them.
@@sond.lollipop8919 yeah... plus, the more I think about it, it could still lead to reviewers who have clear biases and can rank games based on "not being as great, as the best **insert genre** game".
Considering how much the "industry" capped and applauded Alan Wake 2, and it turns out it still hasn't made a profit, is a sign to me at least, that people have begun turning away or rejecting their position on games.
There's also the topic of what device and hardware was used, too. The Dragon's Dogma 2 debacle is a great example of this, where PS5 players had nearly no issues but it seems those on PC ranged from also having zero issues or the game frequently crashed or slowed down. Would be interesting if more reviews were done with PC versions .
(I say this though as one who does not play games on PC, and actually only plays one or two games a year ((modern FF games that I just enjoy replaying)) so I'm not really in the trenches with this issue...but just something I've noticed, what with PC ports seeming to have a pretty negative track record).
Greatest PS1 game of all time: Warhammer Dark Omen
Close runner up: Warhammer 40K Space Hulk
In fairness though the Days Gone developers comment was cringey there were outlets that complained and seemingly docked Days Gone for its protagonist being a white biker guy
Best PS1 game was The Legend of Dragoon
crash bandicoot - game changer
My favorite PS1 game is Xenogears
Final Fantasy ix.. good story.
DMC is an awesome game
Broken Sword: The Shadow of the Templars
Flashing lights warning! 1:50
2:56
Best PS1 game would have to be Medievil. Weapon is broken? No problem, just use your arm as a club 😅
Omg...yes! But we shouldn't talk about second one.
FF9 is probably the best PS1 title in my opinion. Just like how Chrono Trigger and FF6 pushed the limits of what the SNES was capable of, FF9 was at the end of the consoles life cycle and was just very well polished and was, imho the best representation of what the PS1 could do.
Metal Gear Solid. ✌
The best PS1 game 🤔Team Buddies, or maybe Jedi Power Battles.
Could you add subtitles?
Im surprised Alien: Isolation didnt make it
I remember on release, while it did get a number of good reception reviews, there was also a couple that panned it. IGN got the worst of it even though they didnt give it the worst score of all the reviews, but then again when it comes to IGN their "fanbase" cant let go of anything. I remember arstechnica gave it an abysmal review and said the game was broken at its core and that the stunning visuals and atmosphere cant save the game. As well as Gamespot and Polygon also giving it bad reviews. Though the community at large love it and still praise it to this day.
DMC is not a bad game. The mechanics are good and controls tight. What makes it bad? Capcom pushing for more western design while Ninja Theory wanted to be true to the original design.
Then Capcom leaving Ninja Theory to their own devices while they are ravaged for the decisions made by Capcom. Good job, Inafune.
Final Fantasy 7
The correct answer for best PS1 game is Final Fantasy 7
the amazing work and Grandfather of games was ps2 GOD HAND without that we porb will have looked amazing boss battles like bayonetta
simpsons wrestling
So, the title for next week’s video is, “What is the greatest PS1 game, and why is it Metal Gear Solid?”
While FF7, Castlevania: SOTN, and Legend of Dragoon are the most dear to my heart, I have to hand the best PS1 game title to Metal Gear Solid.
Legend of Dragoon
The best PS1 game is The Legend of Dragoon. It's not only the best PS1 game, it is my favorite game of all time.
Hands down and I say it all the time, Metal Gear Solid is the best game of all time not just ps1. Although it's not my favorite game of all time it's hard to deny the impact on the entirety of games.
Rival Schools for PS1
I personally think that Legend of the Dragoon was the best PS1 game of all time.
Wipeout 2097. Took the great first game and ironed out the kinks to make it perfect.
What kind of an accent do we have here?
I believe it's Scottish, though a regional dialect I'm not immediately familiar with.
Greatest PS1 game, clearly it's Kingsleys Adventure
I wa t to say best Ps1 game is FF7, But the game just doesnt hold up as well and is well served with its remake
But a game that DOES still play as good as the day it first released way back in 1997: Castlevania symphony of the night
Best PS1 was FF7
For me it's Metal Gear Solid
Greatest PS1 game is easily Twisted Metal 2. Crash Bandicoot: Warped would come in at 2nd.
Best PS1 game:The Legend of Dragoon
Best PS1 game?? hard choice between Crash Bandicoot and Final Fantasy VII
The best PS1 game is Final Fantasy VII with Metal Gear Solid as a close second.
Best PS1 game of all time is FFIX. No competition.
