Totally agree with you about the top-up issue with the old model of the Lightour pad. Some nights I'd have zero issues, others a slight leak. Nothing where I ended up sleeping on the ground. I also agree with the thickness of the pad being slightly frustrating when sitting in the tent. Doing the WHW two weeks back, I'd need to pack up quickly each day, and packing up within the tent the pad would go down last for comfort reasons. I'd get quite chilly doing this at 5:30-6am. This new one looks like a candidate for next year's gear along with moving to a quilt! thanks!
Mine deflated so badly - many times per night, I stoppted using it and got a second hand Thermarest...of course 6 months in, the seller didnt want to know. So I'm sceptical about this new one. I am pretty sure I put the valve in properly, I think mine has a leak. Shame, it was very comfortable, more so than the Thermarest, but I prefer to not be woken up twice or three times a night as I hit the ground!
Been meaning to watch this one, at that price it could be a game changer I like to hear your thoughts once you’ve had it out in some real cold temps I’ve not had a problem with my pillow since I swapped to the sea 2 summit Aeros I know it’s a lot of money for what is basically Velcro but I’ve not had any pillow slippage since 😂
@54DegreesNorth the previous one was fine throughout last winter. Used it nearly every camp so will be using this one (once I get the right size) completely this year. Its way more comfy than the last for sure. Plus, I just use a pillow with an elastic strap. Works on anything then. Flextail one is really good and I put my down jacket inside over the bladder to adjust the thickness and firmness. You can really dial in the comfort. I'll send you a link to my short I did.
You definitely can't argue with the value of the mat I've got a few thermarest mats the prices now are getting ridiculous if I didn't already have them the light tour would be great.ive been looking at getting a new 10,000 power bank and a lot if the new 1s are type c so think I will have to swap my cables as well lol. they do seem pretty long tho I'd be happy if the were a little thicker but shorter.
I would very much like to see you on a full size version of this mat, in colder weather, but please give it more than 1 minute of a 12 minute video of your time, it felt like just saying the title name out loud was the longer than the review you actually gave it. Love seeing all the other gear and not hating for the sake, just like to see click bait turn into a full blown review of the bait. Your one of the first out there showing this 7.5 r version, just chasing the dream like we all are, spent too much money on a bad night sleep. Do love the channel. Soz if sounds negative, chasing the dream is all. 😊
@jazjac17 understand. I normally incorporate a review into a campaign video rather than a whole video but other than weight, comfort and price there's not a lot more I could do on this one without testing longer term. Once I get the larger mat, which is on its way, I'll compare weights between the two as well and use over winter. Thanks for comments and don't worry, not negative as I understand. 👍
If you're in the market, I just bought an OEX Flux 7R, which seems to be very much like this but for £65. Haven't slept on it yet but favourably impressed trying it out in the shop. Remind me after the 4th of October and I will tell you how it fared over 3 nights. Obviously that won't be deep cold testing but it will be enough to get an idea of how comfortable it is etc. R=7.2 m²K/W, similar dimensions to this one( a little shorter but same width) and weight is 813g, only minor bin bag crinkle when you move about and my fat 120 kg arse does not bottom out when lying side on. After spending about 6 hours looking through reviews and having 200 tabs open, pretty pleased with my decision so far.
regardless of which brand they come from, they need to show the durability. Failure rates that many chinese manufacturers seem to be fine with just aren't doable in the bush without considerable risk
@jamesleehunter I've been using the previous model mat over a year as I said with no issues. And it doesn't really make much of a difference to the make as I've seen thermarests let people down on camps. Their after sales service is great but that doesn't help when your up a mountain freezing.
The torch reminds me of a kazoo 😂. A mate of mine got done for impersonating a police car with blue lights under the grill. I know you were messing about, but definitely can see the advantages of it. I like the lightour but it's still a lot for something that hasn't got their brand name established fully yet
@Phil.Oakley 😂 yeah was only joking. The loghttour mat is the same as the ones used by naturehike who are pretty well known in the camping community plus I've been using one for a year and it's been very good just not as comfy as this one. They're also ASTM rated so properly tested 👍
@@NoviceWildCamper when I was looking for a new one I saw the naturehike and lightour looked the same, but I opted for the flextail in the end which has been good so far. May be a future purchase. Definitely need the long version though
Hi mate. That mat looks great, defo the rectangular one though. I have the 5.8R and find it goes down a bit overnight. Operator error hopefully, I’ll look at the valve. Thwnks for the review. P.S. I wouldn’t want to piss around with blue lights 😊😊
Great seeing you out mate looks like a good Matt I have the thermerest xlite it’s great but have lower back problem and always ache in the morning. Do you think it’s more comfortable ? And could you use the thermerest chair with it? Atb Graham
@grahamscothern4319 cheers buddy. I'm not sure on the seat. If you check the measurements on the link in the description (just added it as I realised I forgot) against your mat you should see. No reason why it wouldn't 👍
Wow, I thought the torch would be considerably more expensive, but happily not so I've just ordered one. However, as great as the temptation may be to put it in the windscreen with the flashing blue and red light on when some pillock overtakes you on a blind bend in a thunderstorm (happened to me today), I think the Old Bill, not known for their humour (or competence) frown on that kind of thing!
@@NoviceWildCamper Jeff Bezos has just delivered it, although possibly not in person. As a chap getting my gear together on a very tight budget and who watches a hundred reviews before buying anything, I made a rare impulse buy purely on your review and am very pleased with it. Seems very solid and well made. Aiming for my first wild camp on Dartmoor next spring, so if you see flashing red and blue lights on a Tor I've probably sat on it whilst cooking dinner!

@TheRamblingHiker yeah it's wierd but I don't think it's to do with the valve and not seating it properly. It's certainly way more comfy though. 👍

@craig3401 I managed to find a small one in my mass of others. Not sure where I got it from but it's only about 8 inches.
