I adore the very hypnotic sound of rain beating against the flysheet. That would send me into the deepest of slumbers. A great video Jason. Where do you get those ration packs?
i am the same :). i even bought an table umbrella for the winter so i can hear a similar sound at night when sleeping. just open the window and bobs your uncle. lol. I'd say I bought it for the summer but well... UK. lol.
I like the sound of the rain too. The ration packs I boguht from Ebay. A guy in Germany had them, unfortunatey I dont have a link but they are the US Army MRE menu 1-12
The Goalzero lights are golden. Use them all the time, special in the hammock as well. Well wet and windy, could be Holland for sure!!!
Great video. I love your upbeat presence, even in the most gruelling conditions.😃
That Jason must have been your most extreme camp yet, well done on surviving it.
Smashing camp, Jason. Your tent handled that bawbag slapper of a storm like a champ.
Hi Jason, fair play for braving it in that weather. Great video. Love watching ❤️
Thanks a million Alan, I hope all is well with you 🙌🍀
I love the way you laugh off the things that go wrong, if it was me I’d get frustrated. Great video considering the extreme conditions
Ah sure all you can do in those situations is laugh it off, otherwise one thing going wrong leads to another and before you know it the camp is ruined. I'm looking forward to getting g back out again, thanks a million for joining me 🙌
Awesome as usual
@davek89666 thanks a million. It has definitely given me the bug for camping in harsher conditions. I'll have to try bring some extra luxuries next time 😄
Love that new camera Jason...$ well spent good friend.
I shared a hot cup of tea with you as I watched this video. Seeing you happy with the tent...the sound of the rain pouring down...the biscuits and apple jelly....that infectious giggle of yours...life can be very good some times. Thanks for enduring the elements for us...yet again!
Cheers Joe, delighted to hear that you had the tea on the go. It was a great experience, I can't wait to do it again in similar conditions🙂
Actually your wonderfully Bonkers I loved this camp 😅
that tent is a beast
Keep up the good work Jason. 👏 👍
Cheers Jamie 🍀
Enjoyed that one Jason. Looked a wild day and night. Some good looking waves coming off the lake in the morning there. Gee whizz I thought the tent was going up if flames a couple of times there.
I was lucky to find a semi sheltered little spot up there, considering the conditons was grand and cosy. Also delghted that I didn't burn my tent 😄
Hi Jason.
Steamy night in the Soulo 😅. It's a Solid looking tent. Lots of tent pole clips. A very enjoyable video to watch 🫡. All the best👍
Cheers Andrew 🙌
Really enjoyed this one.
Hiked up there earlier in the year. Cant believe all the water you met coming down the trail. 😮
I've never seen it so bad, just shows how much rain fell earlier that day. It was nuts 😄 I was very lucky to find that little spot. It was fairly well sheltered from the wind. Thanks a mill for joining me, I'm delighted you enjoyed it 🙌🍀
CRIKKY.. that storm looked BRUTAL.. glad you survived it ... your dinner also looked delicious 😋 you made me laughed with your funny jokes.. stay happy and keep smiling 😊 cheers to you ❤
Wait until you see the next camp meal 🙂 Thanks a million for joining me, delighted you enjoyed it 🙌🍀
I love it! Proper adventure. You took some beating Jason. Just goes to show though that with the proper kit you can have a reasonably comfortable night. That was a lot of fun to watch. Thanks so much
I'm really looking forward to getting out again in similar conditions, the challenge added to the experience 🙂🍀
You wouldn't even think you were in really bad weather with the Hilleberg Soulo
Well im glad you werent late posting this 😂 lol im looking forward to it even more now 😊
@@Nowt2seehere I accidentally let it up an hour early 🤦♂️ what a plonker 🤣
😂😅😂 no one's perfect 😂 @@RamblingOn
Jason Awesome video.
Very atmospheric, I could get that feeling like I was there.
Thanks a million for that.
It did look rough, wet and cold but that's nice when you are snug in your bag, sorry quilt.
But please Jason you should always bring a change of clothes cos you just don't know what will happen out there.
Looking forward to your next Adventure.
Stay awesome Jason.
👍🇮🇪👍
Thanks Gary, I realised the same thing so next time I'll be sure to have extra clothes with me. I was very limited on space in my pack so I've since bought a larger pack and I'll be using that for the winter. I'm very excited about it 😄
@@RamblingOn yeah I totally understand that Jason, weight and space.
Thanks for your reply I really appreciate that and can't wait for your next video.
Cheers Jason .
Well done Jason that looked a grueller!! You took a pounding there 😀
great video as allways 👍
Next time I'll have some extra comforts like dry trousers 😄
Hi Jason that was a fantastic video I really enjoyed it you're so funny and brave to camp out in that weather brilliant 👏 👍 looking forward to the next one we'll done ❤
Thank you Lillian 🙌🍀
This looks sick man. Dope experience.
Where wild campers are certified insane 3:30. 3mins 30seconds 😂. Great job Jason. I got my beeswax, candle wick in the post all ready for making my first candles. All the best buddy
Ah best of luck with the candles 🙌
Deadly stuff... some man going out in that weather but there was something comfortable looking about your setup. Can't wait for the next video Jason thanks
Cheers Adam 🙌
Expertly fimed in the tight confines of the Soulo Jason... It really is a great tent.. Enjoyed this, lot of fun in shitty conditions.. Awesome. 👍
I'll hold my hands up here, I made a balls of some of those shots. I could have done so much better but anyways. Lessons learned.
I should be able to order the 20mm lens this week with any luck 😁
Good drills mate , weather was pretty bad 😳👍
Great video. I think we need Sherpas in Ireland, or an Irish version - a lad to run on ahead when it's lashing rain and have the tent set up when you get to the top!
😄 not just any tent either, a proper bell tent with a log burner stove and a double bed... Oh baby
I might just never try this job again. It was character forming. But everyone to his own. Happy trails.
Hey Jason, jeez weather was something else, careful with them teabags too mate....😂. Glad the stove worked out and really enjoyed the longer video in adversity! Thanks as always for the content! Austin
Thanks a mill Austin. The stove was really cool, I like it's little quirks. I'm looking forward to getting out again in similar condtions, I had a great night 😁
Enjoyed this (from the warmth of a chair)!
You had the right idea 😄
Nice one Jason
Boy that looked windy !
Atb Graham
Man that is one cracking upload. Some weather. I have never see the path that waterlogged. Crazy. You have sold me true and true with the Hilliberg Soulo 1. Need to get my hands on one of them. Brilliant upload man. Loved it.
You can't go wrong with the Soulo, it did very well 🙌
Brilliant well done 😂
Lashin’!
Ah Jay, that was brutal. Have ya dried out? Ya know, watching that video has actually helped me narrow my search for my next tent.. and it won't be a Hilleberg or a Nortent. Both too noisy. Its now between the Kuiu Storm Star and the X-Dome.. but will need to see more about the X-Dome. So far, Kuiu is leading the race.. 😁 Cheers bro!
I should really try get both those tents, just so you can see them in the rain. I garauntee you they're just as noisy 😄 I had a gander and the storm star and it's a nice looking tent, large footprint on it from what I can see. Tell you what, just buy both and I'll buy whichever one you don't want to keep... Mates rates 🤣
@@RamblingOn but of course.. 🤣😂
Fair play to ya
Man you’re mad!! Fantastic video nonetheless.
Now that ive viewed , well done that was a brutal camp and you are learning well mate , last time i got out my tent before bed too pee & tighten my lines because i was caught in a storm i stripped actually ,boots n boxers only ,shivered for a cpl of mins no doubt but when i got back in for the night id kept sleeping bag jammies as i always do ,lightweight running tights and long sleeved tshirt ,weighs absolutely nothing ,takes up zero space ,but boy oh boy what a difference everytime i zip up for the night , get yourself a cheap set of karrimor tights n top from sports direct for less than £20 ( more if you wanna splash out but theyre for bed so why ) ,anyways i subscribed cause i like your personality not your skill set ,we all learn every time , apologies from myself for mis reading when the post was due up ( no excuse ) but i am off work ill so maybe my personality wasnt on point this week .. anyways all the best , keep em comin ❤
Oh don't be worrying sure we had a laugh there's no bother at all. Thanks a mill for the heads up on the tights and top I'll check those out. I was very limited on space in my backpack so I couldn't take too many extra bits. I have a new pack sorted now so it won't be an issue in future 😁
Love watching your videos mate, they always make me smile 😃 so thankyou for that. Not great conditions there but you still managed to enjoy it, great stuff! In fact, I think you enjoyed it a little too much when you were getting spanked! 😂 Can I ask you what your chair is by the way? Looks nice and compact and lightweight? Ideal for when you're stuck in a tent. Thanks 👍
🤣 aye getting spanked by mother nature. I did a little video about the chair, it will give you a better idea of what to expect. I still love using it, I'd happily recommend them ua-cam.com/video/XMmN5JOqx8Q/v-deo.htmlsi=n5vNHhCI5RC0YHdw
Hope you made it back across the river. Haha
I made it down without taking a dip 😄
thames water leak lol
A lesser man would have packed it in at the gate! Well done.
Fantastic Jason, really enjoyed that , I was going to get myself one of those UCO lanterns, then I seen the price !! For some reason I had about 15 quid in my head not anywhere between 30 and 60 quid !! Bit expensive for what they are really !
Oh yeah they are fair pricey, I did a video on how to make your own lantern. It might come in handy or at least give you a few ideas ua-cam.com/video/5eUwsYQ4ymk/v-deo.htmlsi=T1txJ_-6VTJXI5ea
@RamblingOn Thanks Jason I watched your candle making one, again I didn't realise just how expensive even the candles are as well !!
im starting to feel you live in the rain forest 🏞😂 i know the sun 🌞 🌎 shines on our planet but it would seem you dont get a fair share.. lol that food did look good. we got some ready meals handed out after hurricane milton but im yet to attempt eating 🤔? my last try lasted 3 days of suffering lol. at almost 60 i need food food.. 😂 you did stick it out 👍 boiling hot water can cook places you need not cooked.. lol. stay alive out there. really enjoy following along on your adventures 😁👍
If you ever see me coming up the trail you can be sure that the rain will never be too far behind me 😄 From now until March, Ireland will be battered by storms. I'll hopefully get some nice weather in between them 🤞I hope you can join me on those from the comfort of your home
Really enjoyed this one, looked like a wild night! How do you keep your camera dry when youre filming those setting up the tent clips?!
I had it wrapped up in one of these, it did a great job to be fair amzn.to/3Ny4cFg
I'm looking for a good tent for autumn and winter conditions, do you recommend Hilleberg Soulo? For summer conditions I have Durston x-mid 1, it meets all my expectations, I have some concerns about whether I will fit in with the whole thing? 😉
As always, great video 😀
The Soulo is an excellent tent and I'd have no worries recommending it but it is overkill for most situations and it's very expensive. I was lucky to find mine second hand. There are other options like a Helm compact 2, a Nortent Vern 1 or a Kuiu storm star that are much more affordable.
Saying that the Soulo Black label is the strongest one person tent on the market, mine is the red label and it will stand up to almost anything. Hopefully this helps 🍀
Jason. You are a sucker for punishment! I was going to camp this weekend but for obvious reasons just did a day walk yesterday. I might invest in a more wind resistant tent, have you any tips? Its annoying when you forget something like a knife or whatever. Those ration packs look good, i looked at them online but they seemed expensive.
As always great video, thanks
George
I just can't help myself 😆 I wanted to see how I could handle the weather. We will have endless storms now for the foreseeable so I may get used to it.
The walk sounds like the best idea 👍 As for tents, something like a vango banshee would be good but there's not much head room in them. Maybe something like a Helm compact 2? There's a nortent on adverts going cheap that might be worth a look either. The ration packs are pricey, cool to try out but I don't think they're the best option for camping. Thanks a mill for joining me on this one. Let me know if you decide on a tent or if you want a second opinion on anything 👍
Helm compact 2! Recommended
@@Thedagda801 thanks
@RamblingOn looked at the nortent, it's only up the road from me. Beyond the budget atm. Hopefully get out this weekend for a night, may stick the child of Prague out Friday night 🙏
God that’s rough weather, but you were enjoying it. Brave man to do it. Good craic watching it though
awesome vid' fella'. really enjoyed that. the weather, location, everything is just how i prefer camping conditions
do you have one of those wee foldaway low tables for your cooking and cuppa's? i bagged one offa temu for under 20 quid and gawd it doesn't half help
oh yeah, i'll give you a fry-up pass for that drippy breakfast considering the conditions... 😁
trust you're well brother and thanks again for a great vid' ✌️
@gallente4TW It's given me the bug to get out again in some harsh conditions. I really enjoyed it and learned a lot.
Funny enough, I have a VERY sexy new table to try out. I'd imagine it will go with me on every camp.
I've been thinking about getting a table for a while, especially as the nights get longer. 😄 cheers for the pass, you might be happy with the next video where the food is concerned. I just got my new backpack too so I'll have plenty of room for food and cooking gear. No excuses 😁
All good here, I'm actually away in Belgium for the weekend so happy out. I hope all is good with you 🤞🍀
Brilliant video. U survived well. Which Hillberg?
Thanks Joan, I learned a lot so the next one will be even cozier 😁 the tent was the Hilleberg Soulo Red Label. I'd no worries with it 🙌
That little tent is like a TARDIS. So much smaller on the outside. The inside shots look like they are too large to fit inside. We will have to trust you that you did not film the inside portion under your dining room table at home and superimposed all the rain sounds. Nice job stabilizing the guy wires. Very nice photography on the waterfall trail. Well done.
I remember pitching it for the first time in my garden and thinking 'I won't fit in that thing' 😄
The MRE isn't much for fine cuisine. Ate them three times a day for 45 straight days in Iraq. No amount of Tobasco was saving my innards. Carbs are the name of the game and taking a dook was few and far between because of them🤣
🤣😂 Yeah I would not fancy using them for days on end. At least you were less at risk of getting caught with your pants down 🤣
They say there's no such thing as bad weather just bad clothes, this saying doesn't apply to Ireland.
🤣😂🤣 brilliant
