Hi pals; Hope you enjoy my guide to setting up your desk for a healthier and happier workspace including tips & gear recommendations! For those waiting - more Notion joy from next week.🙂I recommend to WATCH THIS NEXT: ua-cam.com/video/Nnup3xp64R0/v-deo.html
Would’ve liked it more if you had more details on the monitor settings recommendations (brightness % and colour..etc). I just discovered this channel, will be watching more now! Quick Question, what’s mail app do you use ?(spark, apple mail, superhuman)
Thanks for the feedback - nice idea. Great to have you in the community them - thanks for watching and yeah - I’ve been using spark mail recently. But mostLy: I batch the emails using gmail in chrome. Simple. :)
@@BetterCreating Thanks for answering ! You have gained a new subscriber. I’m implementing most of the notion templates you’ve done and looking for more. (I felt a bit lost between versions done and which video to watch first…etc). Why have you gone to spark ? Have you tried superhuman ? I’m currently testing it out and like it but trying to convince myself with the price tag.
I love my PD3420Q! Got it a few weeks back and it works perfect with my Mac Mini M1! Also it works fantastic becuase it is NOT 4k! Mac os works best with ppi that are either 110 or 210 and the PD3420Q has a ppi of 110! I tried 4k monitors and the scaling sucked! I use my PD3420Q for music and I highly recommend it! Could you maybe do a video on the Dell P3421w vs Dell U3821DW and LG 38wp86c vs LG 38wn85c ?? :-)
Thanks for sharing - this is great to read - yes - it is preferable re scaling and the PPI - yet if you have had 4k you do notice the difference going back - overall i really like the monitor and it will be a workstation daily driver in my studio once i set that up! I'd need to get hold of those monitors to review them is the only issue! I do mention other alternatives thou in my Mac monitor checklist guide video. :)
As someone with lower back issues, I invested in an Autonomous Ergo chair as my desk chair. Definitely worth the investment as every thing is adjustable (arm rest, head rest, etc). Check it out if you can.
@@BetterCreating I am a rather tall girl at 1m74 and the size is just fine for me. One of the vendors I had on the phone said that she had a boyfriend over 1m80 and the chair was still enough for him as well.
Recently, I swapped out a 37.5-inch UWQHD for a 27-inch UHD monitor with integrated speakers to achieve approximately 50% total desk space on either side. I am experimenting with switching to using a smartphone (12GB RAM, 1TB SSD, UHD or FHD display using monitor or lapdock, respectively) connected to either the 27-inch monitor via a hub mounted to the back of the monitor or a lapdock as primary computer replacing the notebook computer (16GB RAM, 1TB SSD, FHD display). The keyboard, mouse, and earbuds connect to the smartphone via Bluetooth, while the smartphone connects to the hub. Network connectivity is setup to allow WiFi, 4G/LTE, and Ethernet all managed by the smartphone; wired network connection is provided by the hub. The smartphone stays in a stand and recharges via the hub. The desk looks and feels less cluttered. From a productive standpoint the monitor (when at the desk) or lapdock (when away from the desk) powered computationally by the smartphone are working out. Whether it is web development, blockchain development, or smart contract auditing, the smartphone has proven sufficiently capable as a replacement for the notebook computer with only minor workflow changes.
Chairs wise - a good Herman Miller - I have the Sayle and I’ve always found it very comfortable. And recently I got the Luna Standing Desk Stool from Fully - great with the sit stand - a midway between sitting, and also great at standing height - change it up all throughout the day and feel much better for it.
A couple of questions remain after watching this video: (1: I have an M1 Mac Mini, which means if I install a webcam, it will be situated on top of my (external) monitor. If I have a webcam there, what are my options for a monitor-top light-bar? (2: Where is the best place to shop for a monitor and get a good deal? Are there any refurbished deals available?
Good video - just confused why the 34 inch ultra wide is alled a 2k monitor? It's 3440x1440. So while not as many pixels as 4k vertically - 3400 is much close to 4000 than 2000
@@BetterCreating I do agree that at 34 inches you can definitely see the lower resolution at short distance... But to explain the aspect ratio (I work in the film/video industry)... 720, 1080 and 1440 used the naming convention of the height of the video. However, with anything wider than 16x9, the naming would stay valid because the width is what actually matters. As an example, a widescreen FullHD BluRay is still considered 1080p even it has a resolution of 1920x800... Then there's 2K and 4K which now use the width as a measure, which is way more appropriate. So technically this would be a 3.4K monitor.
Beasuse it’s my editing drive to keep data of the mac - plugs in automatically this way through the built in thunderbolt port in the monitor. Love it!.
I bought the monitor. The light bar and the desk mat because of you! I have the Halo series from Nuphy. I'm using the 96 in black. It looks sharp. Rose Glasier switches. I also have the 65, and 75 in white (same switches) :)
Cables: I love these: Maxonar (UK) or Selore (US) 1.2m longer Thunderbolt 3 Cable (shown in my Mac monitor checklist video) US: amzn.to/3Innn04 | UK: amzn.to/351Ys3G

I find Ikea Langfjall chair to be very comfy for me. It looks amazing and minimal. Fabric also gives it so much more natural feel than plastics.
Love this! Thanks!

Based on your set-up, you seem to be an Apple fan.
How did you know?
@@BetterCreating Do you have a WhatsApp number that I can reach you at? It would be much easier to communicate that way than typing.

Thanks for the recommendation - they look really adjustable! Not sure about the size of it thou!

why don't you use speakers?

You can see the difference. If 4K is defined by the 16X9 - this monitor therefore is a lower resolution.
@@BetterCreating I do agree that at 34 inches you can definitely see the lower resolution at short distance...

3440x1440 is 33% more pixels than a default 2k monitor so still quite a bit off 4k, this can be a good thing if you’re performance limited.
@@datatron100 it's 33% more vertically, and 80% more horizontally. So 2.4x as many pixels in total. 4k Vs 1080 is obviously 4x the pixels
Why is an SSD stashed in the monitor?

Highly recommend the herman miller x logitech embody its super comfortable and looks great in the black/blue that they offer.

Woop!
Another amazing video, Simon! Thanks for sharing!
Cheers from Brazil!
Ah thanks pal. Great to hear. Cheers back at you from London!
Link that little iPhone wire thing? Also any cable tie recommendations?
Yes: the iPhone wire holder is part of that Orbitkey desk matt: see the link in description for that :)

Where’d you get the desk lamp?
It’s from Lofree. I’d say it was more a visual item than a light that will actually light your space thou! Quite dim!
What app have you used to create the 3d Setup?
It’s called Live Home 3D :)
@@BetterCreating Thank you so much
