It sounds like it runs great,I also think anyone whos good at jetting a 2 stroke can make a newer 250 or 300 run great with a carbie. I stuck a JD jet kit in my 14 300XCW and have ridden it from 2000 up to 7000+ elevation no problem gets great mileage runs smooth pulls hard idles nice. No doubt fuel injection is the way of the future if there is a future for 2 strokes, but I dont feel Im missing much using a well tuned carb.
I believe I read that the oil pump changes it's output to adjust to the RPM's so that is how they get so much oil savings but don't quote me on that, i can't say for sure. I actually I agree, 50% savings like they say in the description of this video does seem like much but there has to be a decent savings. Actually just googled the article here's the quote from transmoto "The oil is supplied by the oil pump, which regulates the amount according to the load and RPM. On average, that is done at a ratio of 80:1 - that is, 1 litre of oil per 80 litres of fuel." Not sure on how that converts in U.S. oz/gallons but that's why it's different than premix cause the oil pump is not just pumping steadily at the premix recommended rate the whole time.
I never liked the orange, (but grew not to dislike it much), or the front fender shapes of today (Which KTM seemed to have started). But about your life, we all start out on the starting line side by side, (like we are born, with no knowledge in our heads). Than, after we learn how to talk, we grab a hand full of throttle and start letting out the clutch. Away we go, no longer side by side, but using our own brains to pick our lines through the hills, valleys, berms and jumps (and crashes) of life. How we finish the race depends on how much we have learned before the end of the race. You are just starting out. Keep learning things, especially productive, learn how to make things,---and always think about your own business. Because of dirt bikes in the 70's, (When a kid could afford a new one), I got into manufacturing, several degrees while working, and a ton of work experience was gained. I now port small 2-stroke engines for a living, and never want a job again. :) So when a teacher tells you to get into arts and crafts, or get a government job, tell him/her, "I have better plans. I am going to use my mind and build things, start my business and sell them to you so I can get some of my taxes back." Then go out and ride your new Husky, and figure out what kind of cool parts you can make for it also. :)
brad sanders ktm started it now all the othe manufacturers make their bikes look like shat too. I like the looks of suzuki and yamaha honda too but theyre lacking.
Cold start on TPI bikes it is very different as they only get pure oil injected into the crank and it takes time for oil to get to the piston specially in cold climate areas (like here where summer is +5C to +10C) and when doing winter riding. There is many videos here of pistons of TPI show wear marks probably caused by lack of lubrication on the piston during cold start. KTM should maybe make another cold start oil injector to lubricate the piston when starting. .................,....
any two stroke with a CDI has had a revlimitter. i have an 2002 yz250 it has a rev limiter built into the CDI. They even make after market CDI for most bikes that increase the rev limilt over stock.
My 03 Ktm 125 sx has a rev limiter.... any internal combustion engine has one, if they didn’t it would allow the engine to run away and rev till it grenaded
Since I've heared about fuel injected 2 Strokes and got rid of my erection, I knew that I definetly going to buy one in a few years. Great Video, nice optic of the bike and the riding skills are really nice to watch! Peace
ill just stick with my 2001 honda cr 125 for now, but damn i want one of these.. although all that extra electronics and such.. hopefully it is foolproof and lasts forever :)
Curious what type of oil being used. Doesn't smoke like my 2017 250 XC-W using MOTOREX. Also I'm curious how it compares to the Lecton, smart carb, etc.
What was that expansion chamber that was on the bike when you pulled it out of the crate? And why have you changed to a carbon fibre pipe guard over the heavy duty one you had on at first? And you've gone through two graphics sets?
now it is year 2018 , and KTM comes up with the "all new " TPI 2 stroke ... Aprilia - from Varese Italy, came up with a direct fuel injected two stroke scooter ( 50 cc. ), called Aprilia SR 50 - Di tech ... it was in 1992 ... if this is what KTM can come up with 26 years later , well then ... it's re-inventing the wheel at its best ...
Wrong. I have a ktm 250 2 stroke 2001, a cr500 2 stroke 1988, a gsxr k3 1000 and a yz426 2003. It's a fair comment from my opinion, which is what the comments section is for.
@@convex7456 its primarily a myth that carbs perform better than fuel Injection. These are early versions of what's to come, and whats to come is a 2 stroke that doesn't bog, and is much more fuel efficient.
Is it me or does the 300 seem much faster than the 250? When I was younger I always had Honda’s cr 250’s I now have an old red frame mx300 I think it’s a 1992 and it smokes any 250 I’ve ever owed.
Why is he luggin' it to death??? I'm guessing not use to 2stroke, probably rode 4stroke more,.. With 2stokes gotta hit those power bands(crack throttle, open the reeds for more intense power) .. Good looking bike though,..
Get Outdoors - they are about 1-2 kg lighter and according to every review I’ve seen, they’re at least as powerful - people are just so afraid of change!
Michael Hodgkinson they are not the same power I guarantee you that everyone is saying the torque is not there and that plus the added weight is just draw backs that some just don't like its little gain for such a loss imo
It's not 'fuel injected' per se. It's Transfer Port Injected. It's still long way for 2-strokes to be 'fuel-injected'. It will probably never happen due to physics.
Tobias Usewicz it clearly is fuel injected hence why it has "fuel injectors" what you're probably referring go is direct injection, like on a car engine. Incase you didn't know they make snowmobile and outboard direct injected 2 stroke engines.
while idling, it sounds like the valves are clacking. I know, 2-stroke, no valves. I have '16 300xc and I kind of wish it was TPI instead of carbureted. It runs great but I wouldn't have to worry about taking it to elevation nor about keeping a separate gas container for the mixed gas. Now we could just get rid of that ridiculous red sticker nonsense in Calif.
Need more info about TPI bikes ? , check this group on fb facebook.com/groups/146333415932759
The Dirtbike Rider because it's fuel injected do you still have to mix the fuel
Austin Turner No its pre mixed. You just pour in fuel in one tank and oil in other tank .
The Ktm's just has the 2 stroke sound that no other 2 stroke will ever have😍
husqvarna
SonOfGod husqvarna is owned by ktm
SomeEnDuRoDude 17 i know but still :D
SomeEnDuRoDude 17. except Husky.....oops

More miles per tank of gas, and spending half as much on oil are the real advantages.

so with this new TPI system is it safe to do engine braking or you still have to hold the clutch and use only the brakes.
I didn't know they still made two strokes. That sound is beautiful.
That Day Glo plastic looks amazing!
I have never heard of a two stroke with electric start! Gorgeous.
Ktm have been doing electric start 2 strokes for years
Finally it's not orange tho :D Beautful bike... Sadly, I just can dream about it in my life :D

Brandon Quenneville No they aren't, I have a 2014 YZ250 and it too has a limiter.

2stroke is not dead!!!!
nick grande never was brotha😎....some of us kept it alive and loud!
Throttle response looks to be snappy as hell, the moment you turn more gas power was already on the wheel lol. I want one so bad.
What a GOOD video! Loved it. Crap out, just the good stuff
Nice to see my 250 tpi in this video
It's 13 lbs lighter than the 500 exc... and 7 lbs heavier than the 300 per KTM.
They actually brought it the US? That's awesome.
Thats a cool bike. Wish it had a carburetor though. And kickstart only.
Hi! Can you tell me what pipe guard you are using? Looks like it has more coverage than the regular ones. Cheers.
2 stroke rev limiter is so niiiiice
Do you constantly have to rev the throttle like a carb 2 stroke ? Or is it like a 4 stoke
Man i would love to have one of those..
Curious what type of oil being used. Doesn't smoke like my 2017 250 XC-W using MOTOREX. Also I'm curious how it compares to the Lecton, smart carb, etc.
Does anybody know where I can get the fluorescent yellow plastics kit? I can't seem to find a kit with exc headlight mask and rear fender? Thanks 😀
ciao le plastiche sono della racatech mentre per la maschera portafaro devi provvedere tu a farla verniciare. Subscribe to my channel ;-)
You looked at the ktm power parts, they should have them.
Where's the flo kit from ??
Michael Fuller no. It's a full plastic kit. You could tell if it was just plastidip
AOMC.MX tell them RTi Powersports sent you
what a beautiful dirt-bike :-)
Pro and cons 250 vs 300? As I can hear the 250 maybe miss some bottom end torque but you dont get that tired!? Which one one would you recommend?
That thing looks sweeet!
What was that expansion chamber that was on the bike when you pulled it out of the crate? And why have you changed to a carbon fibre pipe guard over the heavy duty one you had on at first? And you've gone through two graphics sets?

two stroke the greatest engine ever made
the 5th gear 20mph comment. the uneven revs and boggy sound is what makes a proper 2 stroke :(
You must ride a Harley, because those are the only other people I know of who prefer sound over actual performance.
Wrong. I have a ktm 250 2 stroke 2001, a cr500 2 stroke 1988, a gsxr k3 1000 and a yz426 2003. It's a fair comment from my opinion, which is what the comments section is for.
Carlos Rexx ya man a carb makes a two stroke. Europe AND THEIR LIBERAL LOGIC BROUGHT THIS ON. long live dialed in carbs
Carlos Rexx less emissions black nla blaaaaaaaas

Can you post a video on the bright yellow bike cuz it looks badass
is the pipe guard/skidplate @6:07 custom built or can I purchase online somewhere?
Dove le hai trovate quelle grafiche? Sono bellissime! Le ho cercate per il mio 250 ma non le ho trovate
AWESOME
Not a big fan of ktm really but damm that’s a nice bike 👍🏻🔥
Same here i also love it

With fuel injection you never use a choke none of my fuel injected bikes even came with on they dont use them
id like to have one of those
time to find a work !
Smooth.....
we need a comparison with the sherco and husky
hdidane00 husky’s have the same engine
ouuuu ahhh 😄💯 sick bike
how do you think this bike would do as a supermoto? i really want to get a 300 tpi supermoto
Olsen a 300 two stroke supermoto? Better of with a big bore 4 stroke, purely because of the type of riding
Love it
When I win the lottery...
Any word if we can get it GREEN STICKERed in California?
first rev limiter on 2t dirt bike I ever heard!!!
Hi man, where did you get those decals?
Good video man
Does anyone know where you can get that graphics kit? it looks amazing!!!
So crisp. Almost no "four cycling".
hey dan.come back to the workshop pls! matt and all viewers miss you ^^
Dan Henderson can't we do business thanks am ready if possible...
where you buy yellow plastic?
Kawi green ?
Music ruined it
Cant wait to get this bike time to sell the crf
Can’t afford this bike?
Yeah me neither :(
I feel you
Dopeee😍
What is the top speed on this thing??
Full video and didn’t hear the power band once... nice bike tho
😢😢😢 I need KTM
I LIKE
The last gasp of the 2t euro emissions regs will completely close the door on all 2t in the next 5-10 years
Do you still need to mix the fuel it
JohnBee so it's like a four stroke you can just put gas in it and it mixes it itself. you don't have to mix it yourself?
nice
0:48 what is that pipe, that isnt stock
WeRideLikeThis it actually is believe it or not it's for another country I was told by another person
ktm have US and EU tipes of all bikes. for EU sell with euro4, for US without
Sounds a bit week?
3:00 riding it like a 4 stroke..... Hope you brought some spare spark plugs.
Dang! Why is it colored like Kawasaki? Tangerine is good.

Must be nice
Sounds like sheet. Older 2 smokers sound like a dream.
hugh janus ya carb makes a two stroke. That's a held back 250
kinsel the carb models have more power and are lighter😂 you'd be going up hills faster on carb model that made no sense 😂

What is the price ? $$
Oil injection?
fuel and oil injection
Alex Kevan oil injection in the intake, fuel injection in the ports.
When will engineers figure out a way to re design that constipated looking intestine of an exhaust ??

Yea right bro that looks SICK
