This is an outstanding tutorial video. I have a few minor corrections / findings though when it comes to an '06 Equinox: 1) impact tools.. - you CAN get a gun on the front 21mm bolt if you use a wobbly. - you CAN get a gun on the rear bushing nuts on the bottom. They're 18mm and zip right off. 2) we had some issues getting the long front bushing bolt out and ended up having to jack the suspension up to get it to clear the stabilizer bar. 3) breaking the ball joint loose was an ordeal. We must have beat on the ball joint fork with a 4lb dead blow hammer for the better part of 45 minutes and it wasn't budging, so we jacked the suspension up, whacked the fork in as far as we could then lowered the suspension and it popped right off. 4) Torque specs: the front 21mm bolt is supposed to be at ~111 ft-lbs according to the Haynes repair manual for the vehicle. Otherwise, this video nailed it on the head. Mich appreciated.
Love your videos. Two suggestions. Add torque wrench to the items you need for the repair might be good. Second. Use a laser pointer to identify parts like a castlenut
Thank you for the info, I will be tackling this in a few days. It's good to see someone realistically struggle with this job just like your average shade tree mechanic would. Thanks for the walk through, it was very helpful.
Nice vid. I did this job already on the Chevy uplander. ( Close enough). I just wanted to see you diagnose the worn ball joint and control arm bushings as the culprit and not the hub and bearing. You know your business. So many people changing out perfectly fine parts needlessly.
Based on shop labor rates , it is more economically sound to replace the entire control arm. In my mind anyways. I plan on doing this on a much warmer winter or early spring day. No garage to work inside of. Just knowing what you are up against is more than half the battle. Both of my vehicles are a 2006: a Saturn Ion 2.2 and a Saturn Vue 3.5. . Control arms on the Ion have already been replaced. This is a great video, the knowledge gained here can be applied to most any vehicle. Yes, I understand variations will exist between each make and year... if you study things first... you can grasp what needs to be done...

though the job was done right the grease needed in that ball joint was NOT shown and this video is not good anymore do to that little miss-hap if you already know this then it should have been included in the video since it was not you need to add a tack to the video showing how to properly add the grease to that ball joint otherwise you can be held responsible for people damaging their car for improper DYI tip... (note not all car's come with a filled ball join and im pretty sure they normally do not have any in them unless added that's why there is a grease insert in the new one so that grease can be added after installation.)

Wow great ✅✅✅✅✅✅
+Jackie Williams Thanks for checking us out! 1aau.to/m/Shop-1AAuto-c
though the job was done right the grease needed in that ball joint was NOT shown and this video is not good anymore do to that little miss-hap if you already know this then it should have been included in the video since it was not you need to add a tack to the video showing how to properly add the grease to that ball joint otherwise you can be held responsible for people damaging their car for improper DYI tip... (note not all car's come with a filled ball join and im pretty sure they normally do not have any in them unless added that's why there is a grease insert in the new one so that grease can be added after installation.)
Thx for the video.
