- The old track lives again. On April 16, 2022, it was announced that a series of grassroots races will be held at North Wilkesboro Speedway with pavement racing in August and dirt racing in October 2022. The track will then be replaced in early 2023. This marks the first racing at North Wilkesboro since 2011. Aided by millions in state funding, the historic race track is on the verge of a revival that many thought impossible just years ago.
Tickets for the event go on sale Tuesday April 19 at northwilkesborospeedway.com - Спорт
This is huge
I know I shouldn't get my hopes up too soon but this is giving me a lot of confidence that one of NASCAR's Founding Tracks can make it's return.
It's good to see Benny Parsons again here. He is still missed. Long live these classic tracks and great content like this!
NORTH WILKESBORO IS BACK BABY!
I went to my first Cup race there in the spring of 93
Talk about a hype video man I was already ready for the racing tonight but now I got cold chills
Beautiful track these tracks make NASCAR what it is. Hold on to these tracks.
"~Hey now! You're an all-star! Get your game on!
Go play!!~"
This NEEDS to happen!!!!!
Now that North Wilkesboro is back, it's time for the Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway to return!
North Wilkesboro Speedway should be like one of the top ten classic tracks ever in racing history. Good to know someone still cares about this NASCAR Track
Cup and Xfinity deserve to go back here in the future it's the roots of the sport just like Fairgrounds is
If you are meaning by the fairgrounds raceway of Nashville, it only held nascar events from 1958 to 1984. it's not as traditional in nascar terms as NWS or Martinsville or even Darlington. But as for being a part of *Racing* tradition, then yes. The fairgrounds racetrack has been holding racing events since 1904. So in that sense, yes. The Fairgrounds is tradition for racing
Blah Blah Blah
When there many times getting in free was the best
We need something like SRX or ARCA to race there and if it is successful let’s just hope the xfinity, trucks or cup series races again at this historical track
Exactly! ARCA and SRX in 2023, Trucks in 2024, Xfinity in 2025, and Cup in 2026.
If you rebuild it, people will come. People will most definitely come!
I’m so ready for racing to come back. That video was great. That’s what I wanna see again
So glad North Wilkesboro is returning, and hopefully it returns to Nascar in the near future like IRP did! Now all we need is for Rockingham, Nashville Fairgrounds, Montreal, Memphis, Canadian Tire, Iowa Speedway, and Milwaukee to return to Nascar in the near future and things would be perfect. I want all the tracks listed above, North Wilkesboro, IRP, and Portland included, to join the Cup Series schedule in the near future as well.
Milwaukee is never going to return because the state fair board don't care, Iowa is never returning to the NASCAR schedule or Rockingham
Don't listen to Clown Haas
The last NASCAR race was on my birthday; however, I wasn't around at that time. I visited the track in 2020 I felt the vintage atmosphere that facility held. I may not have a deep connection with the track like other people, but I'm grateful that I now have a chance to witness history.

Maybe Arca will go there
Racing the old crusty surface will be interesting. I remember the track was looking pretty rough when they ran those late model events back in 2010. 12 years later, oof. But glad to see the old girl is getting another chance
This and Rockingham need to be raced by the Cup drivers!
not going to happen
@@johnhaas2523 I could see Nascar putting down dirt and racing at North Wilkesboro. It's sad that Rockingham will never happen.
@@lucky-rowe2623 NASCAR can't do anything at a track they don't own. how f****** hard is it to understand that speedway Motorsports and would be ones that would be putting dirt down but are not. the only dirt racing is in October at North wilkesboro that's after the pavement that needs replaced is removed before repave next year and if NASCAR itself returns to North wilkesboro it will be just ARCA and trucks as Marcus Smith will speedway Motorsports is not moving a date from one of his other tracks to North wilkesboro
@@johnhaas2523 Wouldn't have to replace any pavement if they put dirt on it-->How hard is that to understand??
@@johnhaas2523 Well, Bruton Smith is a billionaire, so is his company and he didnt do jack shit to help NWS come back for decades, he killed it instead. It's only when *state moment* started coming in that a revival is even possible at NWS and The Rock. Since many seem to be forgetting that it was the call of the Governor of North Carolina to give funds to the racetracks, not SMI or Marcus or NASCAR. It was the State
Welcome Back North Wilkesboro Speedway!!!
Thanks For Uploading ☺😎
How poetic would it be if Jeff Gordon rave in the All-Star race next year.
A mythic track is back!!!!!
Wow, hope to attend a race someday in the future. Excited to see the ole girl come back to the show.
Is there a UA-cam video of the Dash series highlights at 1:06?
If they can add dirt to Bristol, they can bring back N. Wilkesboro. There is no job too daunting in NASCAR.
I feel like people are putting so much hype into this track due to nostalgic feelings, I just hope they aren't disappointed
What's even more hilarious is half of the people nostalgic for the track werent even alive/were too young for it in it's original incarnation on the circuit
@@nattiedraws lol yeah I guess we'll see what happens
Just do the All Star race and gauge turnout
If it exceeds expectations, then we should talk about a NASCAR weekend
wilksboro dirt then pavement
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
I will believe it “WHEN I SEE THE TRACK “MODERNIZED”………
Thank you
Just stopped by to take a few pictures this past Thursday (4/14), via the Benny Parsons and Junior Johnson Memorial Highways. The place is in pretty tough shape. I hope they can get her back to her old glory.
The guy said it has high banks and long straights. Lol the heck?
Badass
I watched that race that Jeff Gordon won. That track has a few idiosyncrasies not found anywhere else
It's equivalent to Wrigley Field and Fenway Park.
Make it happen.
truck series will but never Xfinity or cup
Don't listen to Clown Haas
Welcome back, North Wilkesboro Speedway!
Where are the “NWS ain’t coming back” people at?😂
Hopefully the SRX race there soon
Or better yet, where are the "Bulldoze NWS, Rockingham is Better!" People now?
@@MotorsportsFan17 Literally no one was saying that. If anything, we want BOTH tracks back.
@@nattiedraws I guess you weren't on Twitter when that was making the rounds last year because that's what I saw
Nice video man I’m trynna get my UA-cam channel up and going
It’s back
The place looks way better with dirt rather than asphalt.
Hype
wait… they not turning it into a camping world?…
no but seriously this is really cool
As good as this is, I prefer we get Rockingham going for a NASCAR cup race. I think Wilkesboro would be a perfect truck track, especially since the style of racing they usually bring there, but if we want a cup race on a returning track, Rockingham is the best bet.
Not even a shade at Wilkesboro, but man I just feel like this is not a track that cup would do any better at than something like Evergreen.
Why Not Both
Rockingham and North wilkesboro are not coming back to the cup series
@@JJA1987 Because Wilkesboro isn't a very quality track. Rockingham's unique racing style with the high speed and bumpy surface provide better racing than a lesser Martinsville. Wilkesboro benefits from lesser quality series, and the Trucks usually stupify into silly, but awesome races. I think it'll fit the track well.
I disagree
Get A Life Haas you bot
Since you are a NASCAR historian you should do a couple shows on how systemic racism has been involved in NASCAR since its Inception
Today's NASCAR, and new cars , SUCKS
Yeah but its better than nothing
I understand that the track is part of NASCAR's roots, but...The track's product, IE the racing was never very good. I think the hype is fetishizing old for old, and nostalgia for nostalgia. It died in 2010, it'll die again. And this time, let's finally move on.
Just let people be happy about something

@@JJA-ri4op Well thought out answer, really changed my opinion.
@@JJA-ri4op Actually, the way people have no answer only drives my point home further.
Can’t wait to see the fans complain about how Boring the race is after a few years
