    this has been so helpful! writing a song always seemed really intimidating, so breaking it down like this and making it fun is very epic

    Order of our song for reference:
    Riff 4 times.
    Verse 4 times.
    Chorus 4 times.
    Go back to Riff 2 times. (Interlude)
    Verse 2 times.
    Chorus 4 times.
    Bridge 2 times.
    Chorus 4 times.
    (The amount of times played for each section can be changed as you wish)
    (Also write a melody for your verse, chorus, and bridge. Each melody should start with a different note than the others so each section sounds different.)
    For recording the song I am personally using REAPER and it's also free.
    Also thank you so much for this tutorial! This helped immensely in wrapping my head around the song writing process.

    How, though, do you determine which notes of the scale belong in the scale fragments you chose for the riff and melody?

      Yay! So glad it’s useful!
      Any notes from the entire major scale will work great, I just picked scale fragments that are easy to play and keep track of! Later on I’ll continue the “series” of theory lessons and cover MUCH more scale stuff!!

    I took guitar lessons when I was a young kid and I me er learned what a “fret” was! You just showed me, though I did watch once and again, rely zoomed.
    I get on the piano what are the major and minor notes but not on guitar and I don't understand what different major or minor chords

    That is a beautiful Martin. What model is it? I'm glad you put a basic Theory lesson in this video. I don't think it's necessarily a prerequisite for writing a song, but it definitely helps to know a few chords, and why they sound good together.

    litterally immediately after showing the chords, while hes explaining more rules i made a whole song, E minor, A minor, G, and Bm without the pinky
