A Mass. native tries to stop driving like one

  • Some days navigating into Boston is a white-knuckle feat that has you wanting to kiss the ground when you reach your destination. You know what I’m talking about: stretches of gridlock; horns honking; aggressive drivers weaving in and out of traffic like they’re auditioning for The Fast and the Furious; slowpokes holding up the left lane; people on cellphones oblivious that they’re drifting out of bounds; lane changers who don’t bother with blinkers; common sense-deprived motorists who take rain or snow as their cue to drive faster and more carelessly.

That was the school I went to for Integrad. The instructors were amazing and really funny. I had a great time. My favorite instructor was from Manhattan. Its been so long I cant remember his name but I think it was Brett. Anyways, I went on to become a feeder driver but I still apply the things I learned with them at this facility plus the things I learned in feeder school. They give you invaluable tools to drive as safely as possible, even with the morons on the road today who think its a good idea to risk their life to get one car length ahead in traffic.

A lot of these seem like someone sat in a room and came up with everything that "sounds food in a meeting" then dumped them all into "training" with no testing if they actually work.
You can't keep up this high-paced reading off of stuff the 8-13.5 hours UPS drivers work without a person becoming quickly fatigued and starting to miss stuff because their brain gets to tired to keep going.

We used to have to drive like this for work, not only you have to 100% vocal, you also have to drive 100% driving, my instructor said I should teach the class, it is not easy, I got a 99% my instructor said that my center seat belt was not visible even though we did not drive with 3 people in the trucks like we used to. 3 kinds of drivers Surprised drivers, all accident never there fault, lucky drivers always end up on the side of the road and then good drivers, pray for us.

    Wouldn't teaching defense drivering,
Try to distract, making them do things to make them aware...
During rain and snow. Having them drift, slide truck then recover because it happens to the best most professional. Getting to know your vehicle and how it reacts.loaded and unloaded.
Driving with one hand. Two hands on wheel goes where head goes. One arm head body move arm stays.
    This is a method.
Probably same number of incedents as other companies using different things...
To many variables, especially other people, bikes, motorcycle, vehicles.
    Clearing the intersection...
