The number of upside down guitars outnumbered right side up that night.
emphasis on "upside down" - Eric Gales is the only other person besides Sonny that I've seen play a right-hand-strung guitar left-handed.

@@ChristopherKose Hendrix played a right-handed guitar left-handed, but he also strung it left-handed (low strings on the top). You got me on Dick Dale, he is a truly unique case - he played left-handed guitars left-handed, but strung them right handed (low strings on the bottom).
@@gtgaxiola True, MonoNeon plays left-handed with right-hand stringing (lowest strings on bottom). I think this is more common for bass than 6-string guitar, since bassists rarely fret full chords.

Does anyone have more talent and less of an ego than Cory Wong? He's an ace who hand built his fighter jet, and is just as eager to hop in the back seat and run the radios while some else flies it, and seems delighted by what he sees. Props, brother!

Every time I've ever went to an Eric Gales show, I left exhausted. Every show was an emotional rollercoaster, and a religious type of experience. It takes a special talent to do that!

Gales is the man, saw him at a small venue in omaha and he burned it down man. Melted our faces into liquid puddles right onto the floor.

I'm crying. Some people are on this planet, and we know why. Eric Gales is one of them. The 'cat is kinda like Jeff Beck. Flies just below the radar. HIs runs are just sick. And he's playing upside down, so different phrasing. Dude is humble too.

I try not to look up Eric Gales on UA-cam and binge through it all in one night. I love when I occasionally stumble upon him in videos like these and get blown away every. single. time. As if it was the first time I heard and see him play. What a legend. 🙏🏻

I went into the show ready to be blown away but having Eric Gales come out and pull this performance off absolutely hit me with a nuclear bomb. I hope that you will put up a video of what he said about Petar and Sonny...it was great.

What a great show - blessed to be there and glad to be able to relive it. For Cory to hand off what is usually a big solo moment for him to Eric was not only beautiful and graceful but wise!
Just saw him in Atlanta and this was the encore, which Cory solo'd. Definitely really cool to see him share this big moment, love how the band is so selfless and everyone gets their own moment to shine. Truly an amazing performance!

I was at this show and was absolutely blown away by the level of playing by everyone. I wish they included Cory's comment at the end, "now that's a lead guitar player". So fortunate to have seen this live.

Never expected to see this - Eric and Cory - the planets must be aligning.
Cory is one of the finest new acts on the scene. His playing is another level, his work rate is amazing and his humility is the icing on the cake.
For me, as a left hander that plays lefty strung lefty, Erics playing IS alien. Most of us lefties can bang out a few chords and simple lines on a right handed/strung instrument, because there are times it the only way to sit in and jam. I think Hendrix was very proficient at this too. But to eveolve to the point that your technique is no longer about "coping" with the RH strings ... Thats Eric gale territory! Theres a liquid flowing quality to his soloing which is like nothing I have really heard others do. Genius
This guy is an alien. His phrasing is too authentic, no other one play those kind of lines.

Absolutely stellar show from Cory and beyond up there. Not only did Cory to give this big moment to Eric, but he consistently shines the light on all of the other players up there when he could easily take more spotlight for himself. He’s a class act and the audience gets a fantastic show as a result!
I recommend this clip to my friends as an introduction to Cory Wong after seeing the clip of Meditation on a boat. The man has zero ego taking a back seat on his signature song.
eric is a open conduit, he lets the musical energy flow through his finger tips. Its awesome to see and a really ballsy way to play, really puts yourself out there exposed.

Yeah it has that same melodic approach, sort of "dirty technicality", tons of character, no fear of doing something a little different...
I would never mistake one's playing for the other, but they definitely have the same energy.

Get to see Eric again Friday here in Raleigh… at a much smaller venue. Gonna be amazeballs as usual… and as a left handed person who plays standard right handed, I’ve been doubting that decision ever since I saw Eric play for the first time… But it’s been 35+ years so there’s no goin back now.

Eric is superhuman on the guitar. First saw him 30 years ago and he blew my mind then.
I was lucky enough to catch the St. Louis show last week, and it was one of the best concerts I've ever seen. I'm still smiling almost a week later. Go see these guys immediately!

Love Eric, a master and so organic, love how he keeps hitting the strings in open (although not in key) just shows the passion and feel, he doesn’t care that’s it’s out of tune, it fits in the performance. All FEELS. 🙂

His choreography within the solo is astounding! The build ups/releases and the effects like the open string attack and the octaver thingie + that PHRASING keep the really intense flow of notes interesting... what an outstanding masterpiece!!! And... THAT BAND!!! Cory you are awesome!

Honestly I you don't see many players these days ripping the blues as hard as Gales does. Reminds me of some of the vicious solos that Stevie Ray would play live. Aggressive as fuck.
