Guitar Connoisseur and Magneto guitars partnered up to capture one of the best renditions of little wing captured by three amazing guitarists. Eric Gales, Matt Schofield and Tomo Fujita. - Розваги
Eric Gales makes note choices that no one else does, and blends jazz/blues/classical so well. Oh man. He's so good.
I feel like Eric although world renown today deserves so much more props than he receives. I've never seen him live, recorded live or in studio that was not epic perfornance. Especially live. He also goes out of his way to engage with the audience.
He aight
I couldn’t agree more..
That's because he's a church musician. If you listen to church musicians, they rely highly on Ending songs or solos on Chords with alternatives
The polished professor, the cerebral European, and the character filled "Raw Dawg". Three guys from three different backgrounds brought together by one song and a common love for an instrument. Each brings a part of them into their playing that is incredibly unique and beautiful. Amazing.
Jonathan Lee you put it perfectly.....some kinda magic happened.
Exactly. First reaction: Oh no, three guitarists playing Little Wing. Second: wait a minute .... nice.
Couldn't have said it better! Excellent description of this wonderful version
Who is the raw dawg?
@@uchennasunday7037 the one that's not the polished professor nor the cerebral european
I can't believe there are listeners that don't appreciate Tomo's incredible melodicism, rhythm playing, timekeeping etc. Dude is a beast-this performance would be far less without him.
The more I hear Tomo's playing, the better I like it! All three of them are great, and this is an amazing rendition. My favorite.
He shouldnt even be on the same stage with Eric, thats for sure. He's a great teacher. But that solo was mediocre at very best. It was very awkward.
@@musicproductioncentral4540 dude you really lack taste and music sensibility. If he had max distorsion and played more pentatonic you would be an awe, but since he has a clean tone and a more refined style (like avoid abusing the pentatonic scale 99% of the time) you think the solo was meh. You really need to go back to school and learn that music isn't all pentatonics, distorsion and fast licks.
@@pippo9830 Hmm, that's weird of you to say all that, since i didn't even say anything about WHY i thought his solo was not that great. Nothing to do with how much distortion he's using, or wether or not he's using pentatonic scales, or any other scale. None of that matters. I'm talking about his phrasing, rhythm, and note choices being totally inferior to Eric's. "if he had max distortion and played more pentatonic you would be in awe" hahahahaha I think you mean typical idiots that don't play guitar would be in awe of anybody wiggling their fingers really fast with tons of distortion covering that fact that they suck. A thousand bucks says you've never touched a guitar.
@@musicproductioncentral4540 bad take 😊
25 min that's the way to play Wing.
Way too long, imho.
@Grammaire Katherine Damboise Sorry, don't hear it. "Easy Blues" is a two chord thing, and they jam after "Little Wing" over a three chord thing. But anyway, my favorite is and always will be Jimi's (too) short version on "Hendrix in the West".
bobbynoe1 it’s definitely a musician’s performance... when there’s a bunch of great players they drag it out. Ear fatigue happens sometimes though. Come back now and see how you feel.
Tomo-San. Pure class. Supporting the song. Incredible dynamic sensitivity. He knows that he doesn't need to impress anyone. Humble and beautiful playing. I wish I could have him as a teacher!
amazinglymistaken17 something, ive studied musical theory for almost 20 years and what eric gales does with those dimisnishes is something that you wont undertand, never! Just go and have fun liseting to tom and matt, eric gales is not for you
Indeed. He's an outstanding player!
Tomo is more jazz trained than Eric is. What an arrogant statement. Eric doesn’t just use diminish either. Matt also plays such things. All amazing players
You should try to get into Berklee then (:
I was noticing the same. Never stepped on anyone's toes, but if you took him out of the mix, all the harmonic undertones would be gone. Dude was doing some very complex chords and progressions as well.
This is how I imagine Hendrix would play it if he were still alive. Mellowed out, chill, and sharing the spotlight with other great players.
+Gordon Tubbs Yes, but Hendrix would remember to turn the guitar strings
Gordon Tubbs yep nice
Marco Avanti Actually he played out of tune all the time
A rthur bug Boy
Lol these comparisons of Gale to Hendrix are ludicrous unless you are talking about his race?
Tomo's note selection is bringing tears to my eyes. Those half finished quick-fire runs just slay me. And here comes Matt...
Tomo Fujita Very killing me.
Tomo’s playing is ridiculous, he “jumps” between entire musical genres effortlessly, and to perfection.
He's really subtle and melodic
As much as I love J. Satriani, Vai and the like, I think this song fits much better with Eric, Tomo and Matt's style. These guys are from another galaxy
Time to grow up little one... Critics - it's a simple cure. if you don't enjoy whoever...just move on..,,,F/----/ critics..
@@john-zw9rw when did this dude ever criticize either one. Maybe you are the one who needs to grow up.
I hear you. Love Joe and Steve's melodic playing, but sometimes bluesy down home groove is better left to other guys in the game. Eric is just a wonderful guy to listen to. Classical, blues and jazz tastefully put together. so much soul. I've seen Joe and Steve on G3 and met them and they are great good guys, but this kind of soulful playing is what's up too. These guys are all killin it.
@@ericy1005 JMO but I think Joe would also have been just fine here. P.S. I really, really want to see Gales on the next G3.
wtf!! At first I thought 25 minutes of Little wing, that's a bit too much..
25 minutes later I thought: I WANT MORE!!!
Gales, Schofield and Fujita ... A fucking epic rainbow sushi roll of little wings with a splash of saké with your corn bread, white meat and jam! Fuck off all nay sayers this shit is a sword fest slaying dragons ...
Isaac Bishara superb discription
They're a terrific combination.
I loose my shit when tomo jumps while he hits the bend, awesome!
It's a spicy bend. Probably gives you the hot foot when you do it.
Eric Gales, Hendrix would been very proud, and impressed.
Fantastic. Eric Gales is on another level. The other musicians were observing Gales with amazement. Gales chord voicings are truly unique. Complete command of his instrument. Gales has been under the musical radar for far to long.
Word! Saw him in the nineties with the band he had with his brother... Awesome!!! Just caught on to the project he has with Dug Pinnick, and Thomas Pridgen called Pinnick, Gales, and Pridgen... Some serious rock there!!!
Gales is obviously amazing, but I'm pretty sure the reason they're staring at him is cos he plays upside down. That's fascinating from a guitarists point of view. I also have to say that I preferred his feel on the solos, he's just nuts
Sam Posener Was going to say he plays a right handed guitar on the left side but with strings reversed but then read this on Wikipedia
Although Gales plays a right-handed guitar "upside-down" (with the bass E string on the bottom), he is not naturally left-handed; he was taught by his brother, who is left-handed, and never second-guessed the untraditional technique.[1]
That is just amazing.
Rocky Standridge sorry man no dice. Hendrix played a right handed guitar flipped around but he strung it properly! Gales plays with the strings inverted
Rocky Standridge lol. They both play right handed guitars flipped. But it's not they're not playing the exact same way because Gales has his low E on the bottom. And Hendrix strung his guitars properly, even though they were flipped round.
Tomo killed this solo. Those double stops were other worldly. Damn this is beyond great playing by every guitarist. Just amazing tone and feel from each one.
Matt Schofield is so smooth even when he's shredding he looks like he's in slow motion
schofields tone gave me a toner
^^
Toner- a new term for me I'll use it all the time now!
My toner was so hard from that too
It's the pure emotion behind every note. Not "check this out", but "where is the music taking me". His dad told me that he told him "less is more" as he grew up. Matt can go "more" but it sounds like it belongs.
Hahaha excellent wording
Just wow! This touched my soul I have the chills RIGHT NOW!!! Eric Gales, Tomo-san ARE BOTH GUITAR LEGENDS.
I just wonder what Hendrix would think listening to this rendition of his song. I'd love to see the smile on his face.
He would be genuinely amazed, yes this is that stellar
It's probably the best improvisation session that I've heard despite spending my life on UA-cam... it's lunar... they are real guitar geniuses.
Man Eric is one of my favorites ever...he is so spontaneous and has a great sense of humor in his playing which is missing from a lot of guys...and he doesn't ever fall into cliche's even when he is playing in a song/tradition that is so full of them.
asian dude is sooo sick! wow totally clean sound too, love how the different players styles shine through... unique guys.. don't usually like stuff this Jazzy but this is awesome, healing my soul man :D
+Jibicus Maximus Thanks so much!
+TomoFujitaMusic don't think he even noticed. ;)
+TomoFujitaMusic I subscribed ;)
sorry Tomo I should have called you by your name, no offence meant man. aaahhh I find myself here again, in need of and receiving more healing so thanks again doumo arigatou gozaimasu! lol watashi wa ongaku ga dai suki desune! please forgive me again if you are not Japanese lol
I was off line for ages lol but yes its great to get a reply from the man himself if that's what you meant?
Eric gales from another planet
Been listening to this for three years now.
all 3 are excellent players. Tomo is so refined and melodic and Schofield's tone and phrasing is as good as it gets (as is his Albert Collins t-shirt!) but damn, Gales just has so much go for the throat abandon and mojo in his playing.
the live recording quality and stereo separation on the multiple guitar parts and nice drum mix really sounds better than most in-club live recordings of this type.
He has earned master's status
I'm so proud japanese stood on this stage.and Eric gales is fucking genius...
Was the gun unlicensed/associated with the drug charge? He's lucky he got to play while incarcerated. Professional or not that shouldn't fly. It's not fair to other experts who don't have the opportunity to pursue their professional development in prison. I want to know who the warden was.
+amazinglymistaken17 Dude you worried about some shit from way back in 2006?
amazinglymistaken17
🖕
A three hour concert in 25 minutes. 3 incredible guitarists each bringing their own wondrous thing. A priceless treasure. Thanks one and all!!!
It's awesome how Eric Gales makes people smile while he's playing!!!!
Yeah it was a jam as someone mentioned, but if you paid attention look at the cool changes that Eric made up on the spot and turned an ordinary rendition of Little Wing into something different and way more cool than just a blues jam. Eric's energy and talent always boggle my mind. I was lucky enough to do alot of his album art for his releases on Shrapnel and I always put in extra effort when his albums came across my desk.....
Eric Gales sounds really good damn🤯
I really like Tomo's jazz blues style. So great to listen to and definitely gave this song a different perspective
Tomo, so much finesse in everythjng he plays… ありがとう、先生
All great! I can listen to all of these players without having to rank them all the time.
Dino South... Amen bro!....no need,to hate.....these comments are like that drunk person at a concert saying.....there not as good as bla bla....listen an learn how to listen people!
Finally someone with sense!
24:11 smile between keyboard and Matt says it all
Eric is spiritual
This is a great version! A great collaboration of great musicians. 25 minutes is not too long for this song. I've heard this song in its many variations since the 60s … Jimi's very psychedelic version, to Derick & the Dominos rock & roll/southern rock, to Santana, Stevie Ray Vaughan solo, and even younger generations are playing this. … No matter what version/genre I hear this song it's still amazing. Jimi has been an influence on so many musicians and I think this version does his great song justice! He would be proud. On a side note, another great version is Stevie Ray Vaughan's version from his concert at the El Macambo.
We all know who is the ALPHA GUITARIST of these three. I got to see The Eric Gales Band in Austin in the early 90s. Eric had just gradded from high school. He and his brother roaring through (4) Mesa Dual Wreck FULL STACKS. It was insane. Love the way he can reverse swell & sound backwards. Songs ending with some kind of "aug"chord. They played jazz style chord melodies and had soft to all out crazy gained-out dynamics. All in a humble vibe.
Incredibly lush, and the most beautiful rendition of Little Wing I've ever heard!
Yeah Eric Gales just commands the stage, led all the way man!
Great interpretation of the song by the players.
Eric is one of a kind, Eric Gales = Genius!
When listening Tomo you can see where JM got the feeling from when playing.. Amazing! And Eric and Matt are awesome..
Whoa. Gales you are on another level. I didn't think it was possible to extend Little Wing musically and soulfully. But you captured the heart of Hendrix and told your own story in a way that is beautiful and complimentary to the original work. I'll be processing this peace for sometime.
Amazing Gales !!!
1st time I saw Eric was on the andertons meets Eric gales video, what a humble gentleman he is, and absolute guitar genius
Dunno about anyone else here, but can the up loader please put up some more videos from this gig?? This is such an amazing performance and I would love to see the rest!!
eric absolutely shredding and jazz chords, tomo jus2funky with the super clean chord progressions and slick riffs, shofield with the blues licks and tone from hell - great trio!!
Eric gales is the hope
I keep coming back to this video
Eric Gales excellent !!! i love ! woh
Amazing performance by all. Can’t get enough of Matt’s tone at 14:40 and after
Erics playing is ridiculous, such a master. Tomo is fantastic too
+Perpetual Motion And Matt is excellent as usual
It cracks me up how so many of the comments are just a pissing contest in direct opposition to what this sweet video is all about. Here we have a small, intimate club venue with a handful of musicians playing for the love of music, gathering inspiration from each other and all producing sheer joyous soul on the spot and off the cuff, while a bunch of armchair wannabes argue about who is ":genuine" or "better". Pffff It would be funnier if it easn't also sad. It's a great show that I truly wish I'd have witnessed live. Thanks for the Up. Appreciated.
Tomo is amazing...such melodic and tasteful licks
Awesome, just awesome !!!
Amazing!
All so great!
Thank you for this!
Tomo and Matt -- face warm like after a nice glass of brandy. Eric -- face melted.
Wonderful!
Wow! Fantastic!
This is absolutely beautiful!
How have I not seen this before? Straight to bookmarks....
eric was amazing!!!
Amazing. Thank you so much for this!
Oh man what a joy to listen to!
Awesome stuff. Wish I was there!
That intro was so fresh and sparkling!
Thanks for posting! Best thing I've listened to in months,
OMG THESE GUYS are blowing me away....
love you Tomo!
This is just flat out inspirational...
this is freakin beautiful
pure awesomeness
wow ...so much talent !
Gave me goose bumps.
man this is magnificent
Amazing! Little Wing at 25 min.; can't beat that. Loved the ending licks Eric does; almost an Eric Johnson sound to them. I guess great Eric's think alike!
***** I agree with your comment..... (Eric Gales+Johnson) Amazing...
***** indeed, he even quotes E.Js song S.R.V at around 23:40 on playing the main riff/lick
Eric Johnson is also a good friend of Gales, they influence each other :)
Straight up Goosebumps
Oh my! I have no words that could accurately convey how much I love this!
medicine for my soul. thanks.
NO words man !!!
Erics choice is beauty to my ears, please let him play ..
Just wonderful... So different and smooth..Thanks
Amazingsome!
WOW!! WOW!! WOW!! a 25 minute jam to "Little Wing"....I need a smoke after this one and I don't even smoke...LOL!!
wow, that was entertaining. so cool to see all the different styles back to back. thanks for uploading!
wow. no words. just... wow.
Classy and elegant!
Great performance. Leaves you breathless.
loving this Eric, Matt, Tomo, Johnny & Kevin - great team!
i must of come back here 20x since yesterday :L
just discovered Tomo today and watched a couple of his warmup tip videos. Has a great personality to be a teacher. Laid back, supportive and positive reinforcement. Holds his own in this and brings something new. All three brought something cool and Eric is Eric.
Tomo taught John Mayer.
@@hardtaill70 I won’t judge him for one bad student :)
This is the best live version that I have heard on YT. 22:06 MS is on fire:)
his soloing 's so sick, amazing..
these guys are some of the best musician's on the planet !
magnifico, nas Alturas!!!!
God...no matter how many times I hear this song its so unique , grand and stunningly beautiful!
