Nice LARGECAR VANTAGE MACHINE!!!!!!!😎🔊🔊🔊🔊🔊🔊🔊🔊💎💰💰💰💰💰💰💰💰💰💰🇺🇸
I started driving in 1972. It’s really nice to see the ol girl mostly original, you know, when trucks were TRUCKS. Love the single headlamps. I wish you had talked a bit more about the engine tho. Be safe, keep on truckin’
I will next time around. Thanks for watching
What a sweet Heart
9:16 Sarge is like " man this is messed up ! At least I got a new friend "
LOL...:)
Nice ol Pete !! Nothing like the old school cool !!
Oh ya 😬
Congrats, Dane! That 359 is incredible! 🎉
Thanks Bud 😬
One sharp pete!!
Looks absolutely beautiful.
Thank you, StickArounTown for this weeks episode of a project on it.
My uncle had one just like that 359 and that is the first time my dad let me drive it setting in his lap😊 8:43
I would big hole the sleeper & add driver side air cleaner & move the lube finder down by battery box & lower front end to same level as the rear suspension so it would look even. But,,DEFINITELY a Gr8 359 tho
Nice to hear colors 😊😊
The 359 is sick!!!!!
Dane, I REALLY like this truck!! And it’s as old as me 💁♂️😁👍 A 1971 model
Not old at all then right? Lol merry Christmas 🎄
That truck is awesome! I love the single headlights. It will definitely be sweet finished. I think the black striping on the fenders is exactly what the truck needs in terms of graphics! Super intact and great truck! It would be real sweet to find an old eaton aluminum disc shift knob! Thanks for the ride!
Thanks Bud, I’m trying to come up with a shifter combination that looks old school but won’t interfere with the steering wheel.
That's a sharp looking 359. It's going to look superb once you finish buffing the paint, painting the frame, new exhaust stack and polish the aluminum.
Ah, yes, the old AMT kits. I built several of them back in the late 70's through the early 90's. Most of their kits came with vinyl 10x20 tube style tires. I think these were introduced with their first big truck kit back in 1971 or 72, the White Freightliner COE, which is a kit notorious for some inaccuracies and fit issues. Their first issue of the KW W-925 and K-123 actually featured the torsion bar suspension. I have heard it was particularly fiddly to put together and get it to sit correctly. Subsequent issues of these two kits switched to the Hendrickson walking beam suspension, which was actually pretty good, just not what was found on most of KW's OTR trucks.
Yepp, built quite a few growing up. Thanks for watching 😬👍
The headlights 'are' a nice touch!
Hey driver! Love the Pete with black chasis and hodegebuilt fenders! Good luck on the model truck, I still have the ones I built when I was a boy, nothing but great memories! Until next time driver im gone!
Thanks my friend … 3s on ya … we gone again 😬
Hello Dane Scott trucker lounge☕ thanks for the cool ride in the 1971 pete 359 old school pete👍👍👍
Beautiful truck! Just love the sound of diesel engines!
That AMT kit will look sweet once you get it built I bet!!
I just finished a w-925 and a White Freightliner 😊
That Jake brake sounds super strong
@Dane Scotts - TRUCKERS LOUNGE A pleasant sound to the ears. It would be interesting to listen to it from the exhaust pipe.
Yes they do sound sweet for sure. 😬👍
Lovely that Pete buddy
Yes sir 😊👍
Just beautiful👍
She will look sweet once you get her all dolled up!!
That truck is so cool Dane. You’re very fortunate to have it, that’s practically one of my dream trucks. I think the air cleaner will look better as red but you do you. Can’t wait to see her polished up and with the signs painted on the doors (I hope, that’d be old school). Some muffler stacks with heat shields would look really good on there
You may be right, I’ll use vinyl so if I don’t like it I can go back. Yes the factory look muffler stacks would look awesome. Will see what develops .
@@DaneScottsTRUCKERSLOUNGE Alright cool. Either way, this truck is gonna be cool!!
When you hit the Jakes….that’s a sound from the ‘84 359 I drove years ago that I miss something fierce. These little-window 359’s are a special kind of cool…..the jump to modernity with the hood, but with the cab that has its roots dating back to the Faegol days.
The aftermarket rolling stock for the kit looks like Mo’luminum parts from Jamie Rahmoller…
Merchandise suggestion: Trucker’s Lounge dash calendars. Hard to find dash calendars anymore…I still run one in my truck.
Not familiar with Mo’luminum? Great suggestion too. Thanks 😬👍
@@DaneScottsTRUCKERSLOUNGE that company is Ohio-based, so there’s that….those pieces could’ve been AITM.
Awesome looking truck, love the videos 📹keep them 👍😀👌😉😊coming.
Both trucks.... The 352 and the '71 359 are my ALL time favorites ! 110 's put the icing on the cake... Be a blast to be your neighbor . I drove a '72 359 w/ a 335 and 4x4 tanker and loved it , "keep on truckin" .....
Oh man you got to experience it firsthand! Hat definitely tipped to ya Driver. 😬👍
That 359 is just Too Cool!! No other words are needed!
😬👍
Thank you I will do that Paul
I usually paint everything first before I start building...
Sweet
Love them old single headlights and curved brackets on them Peterbilts.
I'd probably go narrower on the fender stripes, unless you're needing to cover up blemishes. The side stripes are pretty much narrow, so it would balance better (in my mind...)
Older is often better, nowadays at least, and ALWAYS cooler.
Not a fan of the over-the-top big chrome bumpers on trucks, but that one on Sarge looks very good - elegant even!
Think Mercury trucks were Canadian only. They even put their name on the C series Budd cabs!! Dodge did something similar, and badged their Canadian trucks as Fargo!
I agree my friend … I’d love to find a nice skinny bumper with PurLux lights. And yes Canada always did the rebadging thing. Not sure why.
Love the nostalgia of a 359 👌
3:01 that's a big hand job Mr. Dane
I know, but I do a little at a time so it's enjoyable. Merry Christmas! :)
Awesome . Sometimes you do hate the fact you let one go that you shouldn’t have. This one is a keeper and looks 10 times better
Totally agree my friend 😬👍
Beautiful tractor! I've always been a huge fan of the 359s!
Love the model A headlights, hope you put LED bulbs in them 👍🏻
Yes that was one of the features that drew me in. Never seen that before. 😬👍
That would look even better in my driveway 😂
😂👍
Nobody does it better than you, please hold on to this on Dane it's a beauty, the older ones have so much class.I'am making models of almost every truck that I drove, driving my wife crazy.
I’m planning on it Russ😊 glad to hear you’re building away….. that’s gonna be an awesome collection. The Dodge cab is made in resin I’m pretty sure to adapt to an existing kit.
I think doing the whole fender in black would look better than a stripe. Another idea is black roof/sleeper caps in black, or even the top of the hood.
Hmmm🤔
Dane, I know that you are also a rail buff. I’ve always been partial to the Boston and Maine Minuteman maroon, black, and gold. Just find a picture of a F7 in that scheme.
👍👍👍
Yeah I love the two round single head lights definetly keep the big ivory steering wheel get a old school tachograph and mount it in there get The old style square Peterbilt badges and a Roof mounted Kysor A/C
Dane great tractor love the 359
You should definitely a model channel
Hmmm that would be cool!....thanks and Merry Christmas! :)
merry Christmas to you too! Thanks for all the "treats"
That was the first truck my dad let me drive setting in his lap when I was about 7or 8 we ran up on a car and he dropped the hammer and made me pass it on a toolane and i was scared to death 😅
Lol… he musta been a cool Dad 😬👍
This is my favorite truck of your collection I hope you keep it like you said you're going to wow this is awesome
That’s my plan 😬👍
Harbor freight has great chasis paint!
Good to know!
I'm so excited to see what the next semi is going to be that it's hard to focus on this beautiful rig come on driv,ah 10/4 good buddy.🤙🏻😎 I absolutely love the truckers lounge
This one’s stayin Driva… thanks for watchin…. 3s on ya wegone 😬
Very nice condition for it's age. It's awesome Dane! The Jake has a good hearty bark to it.
I know this truck has such a throaty sound to that 400 Cummins.
Hey Dane...great ride-along (as always). Quite the skill holding the camera, clutchin' (oops, I know that's a bad word 🤭), shiftin', and steering that big, beautiful machine. Really appreciate the "AMT update". Yep...I remember those boxes crammed with chromed parts...as a young model builder, I painted-over most of 'em...built the models to my "specs"!!!! Cool video, my friend... 👌👍👍
Thanks buddy and for watching as always 😊👍
Hey Dane, I commented about keeping this 71, who I will refer to as "Rosie" and keeping Grasshopper on your previous video, and I'm glad you are keeping of hold of it. You have had and still have some awesome trucks, but for me, this 71 is the Queen of DSTL!
I agree buddy thanks 😬👍
Wish we had a hobby shop here i would like to have a nother model.
Try on line my friend 😬👍
Definitely needs dual stacks and dual round headlights. Other than that she’s mint
Yepp agreed.
Olá...deixei um joia!!! Adoro os vídeos, Brasil .... Rio grande,rs
😊👍
how much is that worth...I have one I'm looking at...same color..missing a engine...needs a facelift
Dane that 5-Niner is looking SHARP , Luv what you've done so far , my only suggestion would be in keeping old school would change the 3 center Roof markers to Green lenses , again only a suggestion and depending on OHIO law , Overall SWEET my friend,, Safe Travelin 👍👍👍👍
Dave….You mind reader you! Definitely 😬👍
Love this Pete, so in Canada ford trucks were badged as Mercury, don't why but they were.
Thanks, ya they did that with other brands as well.
Flash is just one of those things you have to deal with in the model building hobby...
Did you notice this 359 is a Canadian truck? The speedometer is in kph instead of mph. I would be that the sleeper currently on it is a Kenworth and not a Peterbilt. Peterbilt started offering the 63” flattop sleeper in 1978 and it’s the one that you see on many 359s, with the door on the driver’s side at the rear and the passenger side door at the front of the sleeper. There were other builders that offered sleepers that you use as well.
Not sure what you’re seeing but it’s MPH and not KPH OR Canadian. I have the original line build sheet. Maybe I’ll share it in an upcoming video. Thanks for watching 😬👍
That Mercury truck is a Canadian offering. Bill
It almost looks like a 351 without the needle nose hood, t cup door handles and small windows.
I know this truck used to belong to my old boss in Wilton Iowa
Wow! I appreciate that… any chance of speaking to him? 😬👍
I have 4 1/25 scale plastic model truck & trailer kits 3 are from Round2 Models the 4th is from Revell U.S.A;I have the 1980 Mack Cruiseliner COE,the 1970-1975 GMC Astro 95 COE,the Big Rig Semi Trailer, and the 1980 Kenworth W900A Aerodyne conventional.I have super detailed all 4 kits with vinyl fuel;oil, air & electrical lines, and scratch built gladhands and for the Revell U.S A truck kit;the stud pilot Alcoa wheels & tires were so poorly designed and manufactured, that I threw them away and replaced them with the modern 21st century hub pilot Alcoa 10 wheel & Tire Set from Moebius Models.I also have relocated the rear view mirrors on the Kenworth W900A Aerodyne as they were missing detail;and were installed in the wrong location which made them look unrealistic, and unconvincing.
I scratch built the missing mirror brackets using .047" diameter styrene rod,0.5 x 2.5mm styrene strip, and 0.64" diameter sryrene rod from Evergreen Scale Models.
To keep the kits from rolling off of the shelf and shattering into a million pieces;I have permenantly glued the wheels on the trucks and the trailer. There are over a dozen 1/24,1/25,and even 1/32 scale plastic model truck & trailer model kits from Round2 Models,Revell U.S.A,Atlantis,Moebius Models, and Revell Germany, that I would just love to have;the only problem with that is,I have very limited shelf space and limited room & space to keep a kit stash as I currently live in an appartment.
Wow Devin! I’d love to see some pics sometime. Sounds like your quite the modeler. My emails sdgraphics@gwcmail.net
I would think that it would look good with the air cleaner black as well but maybe gold stripe the top and the bottom?
Definitely…. Great idea 😬
I thought the California Hauler had an NTC 350. Maybe I’m thinking of a different AMT kit. Haven’t put one together since 1981.
Maybe the newer kits do? 🤷🏼♂️
Beautiful old school cool 359...Love it.. What motor and trans is in it? Sounds really good..
Yes sir it’s a 400BC2 Cummins and 13 speed.
Great motor and good all around trans..@@DaneScottsTRUCKERSLOUNGE
Is Mint Chip gone done the road? Have fun with your new addition. Bill
Yes he went to Kansas but is for sale again 🤷🏼♂️
Thanks, and have a nice holliday, Bill@@DaneScottsTRUCKERSLOUNGE
Dane those wheels and tires for the model look like Jamie’s from moluminum.
That could be I can’t remember 🤔
14:17 if your really going to keep the 359 paint that model the same. You can always repaint it..
Dane Sir what power steering fluid do you use in that beauty. I’m bringing one back to it’s glory slowly and changing out all the hoses.
Well……. If it had it I’d use the usual standard fluid. I’ve had no issues in the Astro with it. 😬
To bad not original dash. But still sharp
Huh?
I don't really care for the single Head lights I like the one's on ment Chip 😊
Ya I wouldn’t mind finding a set of the doubles that were on it originally.
Guessin that old 349 has a cummins in it? sound like it anyway...suprised he did't throw the hood up🤔
Yes sir I’ll get into it next episode. 😬👍
That is a might fine 359 you got there Dane. Sorry if I missed you saying, but what is he/she powered by?
Thanks buddy, it’s a 400 BC2/13
How much to buy her? 😂 thanks for sharing brother!
Not for sale but ya never know around here… lol.
It appears to be in good shape for a 71. So what is the progress on grass hopper?
Have to wait till spring on Grasshopper..no room inside. :(
Has a flat dash. When did they go to the corvette dash? Odd that it is one stack in the back. Very nice old truck. How is the wiring? Most old trucks are butchered.
No butchered wiring all original. Corvette dash was much later.
Where did you buy the cutting cream you're using on the Peterbilt ?
Wish I could remember had it for a while but I suspect from one of the big aftermarket parts places such as Raneys etc. check with your local auto paint supplier.
What happened to the green 379? What engine and trans does the 359 have?
379 went to Kansas and this one has BC2 Cummins and 13 speed.
Just right off I can’t call it is 71 it looks like an 81 Corvette dash didn’t come out until 78 and a 359 model not until the late 60s
Hey Dane what happened to Mint Chip?
Sold to a Driver in Kansas, however it’s for sale again on marketplace
What's the power plant? HP?
400 BC2 Cummins
Hello Dane would you kindly send me the link to the June 22nd of/24 truck show in Maine I'd like to buy a few tickets for a chance to win one of the 2 trucks or the $500, only problem is that if I do win a truck is that I'd have to get someone to bring the truck across the border into Canada 🇨🇦.
I’m pretty sure they have a Facebook page set up for it. It’s called the Springtime Truck and Tractor Show.
What time is it,? 3:59 time
Oh ya!!!😬😬😬👍
You have a old truck like that you need 2 sticks not a nine speed
Definitely sounds like an engine miss...
🤔
