    Great to hear Emily's story. I would just add a caveat, that although I agree that nutrition is key to laying a strong foundation, exercise is vital too. Bone density or lack there of, is a killer for people over the age of 60. Just for some perspective, 50% of women over 65 that have a fall and end up bed ridden for a time, thus inducing further sarcopenia, are dead within 2-4 years. Once you lose skeletal muscle over a certain age, it's incredibly difficult to regain. Strength training is and should be an essential part of the strategy, especially after 40. I know from my own scans, on a carnivore diet, over the first month period, I lost 1 kg of skeletal muscle. Which you would think was difficult to do on a carnivore diet, with 1.5 hours a week of strength training and about the same of mild cardio. That loss is unsustainable and so to remedy, I had to increase the protein grams per day (50g) at each meal, cut out the IF and missing breakfast ( I prefer long fasts periodically, and want to get the mTOR firing in the morning), and increase the amount of strength training to maintain the skeletal muscle I have. I just wanted people to know. You don't build or retain muscle at 50 like you do at 20 and 30, our bodies become less efficient with protein, and maintaining muscle is important as we age. 😊✌️

    • @lq4657
      @lq4657 Рік тому +5

      I am 59 years old, carnivore for 4 months. Been strength training for years on and off, steady for last year. My muscles are very easy to build with the right amount of protein. I have been asked if I was training to compete. I guess I'm very blessed to have good genetics. Only my glutes are lagging. Don't know what the deal is there! But I also lost fat and some muscle at first, which I did NOT want to do! Gaining muscle again very quickly now. Reverse aging is so much fun!

      This is an important message, thank you for sharing. I wonder if there’s a short way to communicate it so it becomes part of the carnivore health message. Perhaps you would consider being interviewed and spreading this msg, it’s vital and I rarely hear it.

    Great interview. I’m so happy to be part of the SBG community. For me I love exercise, I always have. But I have never exercised with the focus of losing weight. I learnt long ago that weight loss was always made through diet my one problem was I never knew what to eat. Since I’ve gone carnivore I don’t need to worry about food it just takes care of itself. And although I’m not trying for weight loss it has just naturally happened and my body doesn’t feel fatigue from working out as like I said I’ve done that since I was a child in one form of exercise or another. I’m so happy to have reduced knee and hip pain. And for those interested in 3 months I’ve lost 39 pounds. And at 54 I feel Awsome.
    Thx Coach Emily and Coach Steven and the other Coaches at SBG 👍🥰👍

    I agree with your caveat. Definitely more protein with age, and more weight bearing exercises. I’m 70 and in pretty good shape for my advanced years - haha. Sadly, I was a vegetarian for a longgg time - even vegan for over a year. And I LOVE eggs, so that was a super miserable time. I eat mostly carnivore, but add a little low carb veggies sometimes, AND my dessert treat is a handful of frozen grapes. SO yummy. I ride my bike everywhere bc I live in Mexico and don’t own a car. Also yoga for bone strength. Down dog,, plank pose,, repeat,,, LOTS

I don't weigh myself so I don't know how much I have lost but I did jump on a scale the other day and I don't think I have lost much weight but I have lost inches off of everywhere! Plus I am never really hungry because I eat plenty in a day, mostly 0MAD. Plus I seem to have cured my awful carb addiction. Haven't seen any downsides yet. Stick with it and I'm sure you will see your body change. It's not overnight but the most important thing is that it's sustainable 😀😀

I have 4 children and tried carnivore for 5 days saw tremendous improvements in infmallation/sleep/sugar spikes, but I didn't last as my children eat all the other stuff. i enede up eating a 6 pack of bunns and everything came back and more.
