the bee and barb got shortchanged by you not hearing talen-jei out. Genuinely the friendliest, most helpful food worker in skyrim. His fiance is definitely bristly though
"If you're looking to get a drink, Candlehearth Hall's got warm fires and strong ale." I always took this as her passive-aggressively telling me that I shouldn't be there and to go somewhere else
Can't believe the host degraded an Argonian by calling them a lizard. They need to reflect on the mistakes made in these restaurant reviews and make a public apology video.
The critic is an Argonian. I’d still say it’s unprofessional, but I can’t fully fault the host for slipping into more casual language at the only Argonian run establishment they visited. The staff clearly didn’t appreciate the comment though.
Well being open air means you get down to business more quickly and the johns are done sooner due to being able to look around and get more stimulus that way, so you can go through more clients in any given evening.
How did you find that mark!.... Ugh, just take it. Look it was one night, she put something in my drink OK? Just... Don't let my wife find out. Now get out of here. >:(
The Bee and Barb is probably less about training and more so just complacency about procedure. when you've got a full house every day and basically no complaints then they probably feel like they dont have to try so hard
As a long time fan of the Bee and Barb, I think you did them a disservice not trying one of Talen-Jei's drinks. A couple White-Gold Tower's deep, you'd really see the draw of the place. Keerava isn't usually that messy and curt, she was just getting slammed (everyone wants to eat at the same time, you know how it is). I hope you give them another shot on a less chaotic time of night, buy ya a cliff racer or two
There are a couple more restaurants/inss in Skyrim, like my personal favorite, the Old Hroldan Inn. Between that and other tavern and inns in minor settlements (Four shields tavern, Thrysk) there are probably enough to knock out two more episodes of this specific series, this doesn't have to be the last one!
I think basically all the remaining inns are the generic layout. So it's less interesting stuff. So I think it makes sense to move on now. Though there are a few notable ones left. Old Hroldan is supposed to be famous, Nightgate Inn has a pond and a wine cellar which I think is cool. I'm not too upset about ending it now, except that Dawnstar's worthless inn made it into the last episode instead of one of those two better ones. Fuck the Windpeak inn. All my homies go to Nightgate Inn.
The Bee and Barb is in my opinion the best food establishment in all of Skyrim. It's got such a warm atmosphere, especially if you talk to the actual owner who you hardly talked to, and the fact that they have a selection of unique fancy drinks you can't get anywhere else makes them a cut above the rest. The reason their storage is a bit messy is probably due to being the busiest tavern in all of Skyrim and they don't have time to be meticulously tidy during the rush hour you visited them at.
On top of that, it seems Bee and Barb is also a sort of staging ground for Riften's crime family and thus the tavern's employees may not be as concerned about being orderly or polite when the rift's most dangerous person is just upstairs. It must be stressful, I couldn't do it if i tried.
9:07 I'd like to point out that the berry wreith is right above an open flame, and if they don't change out that wreith regularly, its probably as dry as kindling.
Just came here to second the edits comment. Very good videos, but what truly makes them stand out is the love and care put into the subtle touch of the thoughtful edits.
Might be worth noting that storing the same goods in different locations is a primitive method of anti-cross contamination. For example, if one apple catches blight, it will very quickly spread to other apples nearby. So storing some apples on one shelf, and some on another, helps to save on spoiled goods.
It’s really nice to have some “everyday life thoughts” here and there throughout the restaurant inspection. Seems like the average inn owner in Skyrim can’t help this life anymore. Like most of them have some dream life that couldn’t be pursued and now must serve drunk guests, soulless workers and rarely stump upon some adventurers, living the dream, until they get an arrow in the knee and settle as a guard or something else. Really depressing, even so for a world bursting with magic and breathtaking landscapes.
You should hit up Oblivion's establishments as well! Hell, I'd love to see a full series on every food business throughout the Elder Scrolls franchise, but probably only as far back as Morrowind, as beyond that you get into severe technical limitations that would make most places probably suck.

New Gnisis is a typical example of an immigrant owned business. Building is old, could be cleaner, but functions as a hub for members of said immigrant/refugee population.

I recommend heading over to the Boston Commonwealth. Even after 200 years of war and horror the great capitalist dream preserves. With fine eating establishments such as Power Noodles, Trudy’s Diner, and of corse The Third Rail you’re sure to find some place to take a load off and find a moment of respite.
I came here to recommend switching the genre to post-apocalypse but keeping the Bethesda train rolling. Personally I'd go for Fallout 3, but Fallout 4 definitely be a solid choice. Honestly probably the better one since its restaurants are better known and it has a larger variety of them.
Something I’ll say about your comment on the attitude of the guy running the Windpeak Inn is that’s it’s also a bar in a fairly rural area, having a bit of banter isn’t unusual and is often desired. It would be different if this were some nice restaurant or something, but I think the context here matters, while functioning as an Inn, it’s where fishermen and miner go to unwind at the end of the day
Disappointed that my favorite inn never made it into this series, but I do get a lot of the inns can be repetitive. Gotta keep saying how much I love the Nightgate Inn though. It's a cool place.
At the Bee and Barb i wonder if the basement food stores were organized by date instead of food type. Like the 1st shelf has the food for tomorrow, and the second has the food for the day after, could be why the same foods are separated across the shelves
Witcher 3, Oblivion and BOTW/TOTK all have unique food establishments that could make for some fun future episodes. Really enjoying all your content and edits!
Hey Austin! Idea for a video: Rank the inns in BotW in a similar manner you are doing here, but as we have a direct sequel in TotK, you could see how the businesses changed over the years!
In defense of Thoring’s poor attitude, the people of Dawnstar are having their dreams haunted by an evil daerdric prince. That would put a damper on me too.

I've eagerly been searching for any type of uplifting content that can offer up a momentary reprieve. I gotta say there is definitely potential for another episode, there is plenty of small places you haven’t visited like kynesgrove, old hraldon which has a unique thing to it, even riverwood was missed, almost forgot dragon bridge, you get the idea you could even stop in solstiem for the retching netch, also if you look into it helgas bunkhouse is a sex area go into her room and read the note on the counter

My favorite thing about the comment section is that I can’t tell if everybody is also roleplaying and defending these businesses in character or if people are really offended that you didn’t like the Bee and Barb lol
Would love to see a tour of the bioshock series' various eateries. Might have to focus solely on the atmosphere and ignore the waitstaff criteria unfortunately.
cool video editing to add in the pictures of what was actually in menu - i love getting to watch you add more cool things like that the longer you make video 😄
“Most people who work here are quick to tell you that they’re sad or annoyed or that their life sucks” Gee I wonder if there’s some I dunno traumatizing nightmares going around town or something
Due to an incident involcing a bladed weapon and an axe in a tavern in 1988 in whiterun such weapons were outlawed in skyrim for self defence in inns and stuff, so thats why they all have hammers
4:35 Man in the base game I really wish Gnisis had a bed to rent, Candlehearth Hall is garbage, you wake up 100% to find like 4 people just hanging out in your room.
wth the transition from the new gnisisisi corner club to the the thing in dawnstar was so random. You r so calm and explore every detail and then BOOM getting hella drunk blacking out and starting that rage walk completely hung, I thought its funny
🤓achtually, I doubt they are. Would the empire send a dark elf spy to the "we hate dark elves" city? The armor is likely there from past service in the legion. I personally think all the imperial stuff is being displayed as a sign of defiance to the stormcloaks, or intended as another sign that the Windhelm guards don't bother entering the inn/gray quarter.
The next series you could do is a Skyrim home renovation video, where you go through the houses and rate them before and after the furniture is in or something like that
Love these videos. I have been watching your channel since the Eggbuster series and that video of the lego game with the horse head in fire zoom in lol.

damn. it got real around 7:45. good videos, always enjoy a pinch of existentialism.
Love this series. Please review the more obscure eateries in Skyrim
I love how much damage is caused by the weird glitchy collision on objects making them end up in weird places XD
Would love to see another episode or 2 of this series just to finish off reveiwing all the food establishments in skyrim
My favorite thing about the comment section is that I can’t tell if everybody is also roleplaying and defending these businesses in character or if people are really offended that you didn’t like the Bee and Barb lol
why not both?
great video. i love these kinds of series you do
7:30 oh my god😭 this is one of my favorite austin moments. I literally lol all the time at this channel
The last one felt like an episode of Kitchen Nightmares
7:42 bro really said Shakespeare, "As You Like It", Act II, Scene VII, Line 139
I'm kinda tempted to say Fallout New Vegas because there is one particular place to eat that will be quite... interesting. But that would be too easy.
Would love to see a tour of the bioshock series' various eateries. Might have to focus solely on the atmosphere and ignore the waitstaff criteria unfortunately.
cool video editing to add in the pictures of what was actually in menu - i love getting to watch you add more cool things like that the longer you make video 😄
yakuza restaurant reviews would be sick....
Oh that would be fun
“Most people who work here are quick to tell you that they’re sad or annoyed or that their life sucks”
Gee I wonder if there’s some I dunno traumatizing nightmares going around town or something
I like how he skipped over the imperial armor in the gnisis corner club, which kind of substantiates that some of the elves may be spies in windhelm
Why? The dark elves clearly respect the empire
was fully expecting to hear the “not applicable” sound effect when u left the bunkhouse
The next series you could do is a Skyrim home renovation video, where you go through the houses and rate them before and after the furniture is in or something like that
Love these videos. I have been watching your channel since the Eggbuster series and that video of the lego game with the horse head in fire zoom in lol.
Fuck yes new Austin
The fact that you clearly have worked in the industry must makes this series great to watch.
Mead with extra bread? We call that "Guinness" sir.
I love these videos so much, looking forward to wherever our restaurant inspector travels next!!
