LOVE THIS BAND!!! If you have watched Phineas and Ferb, they do the theme song. The lead singer, Jaret Reddick, is also the voice of Chuck E. Cheese.

Yall probably hear it from movies and cartoons during the 2000s. Lot of pop-punk popular during the '90s and '00s. And also bands like Blink 182, Sum 41, Fall Out Boys , Jimmy Eat World, Good Charlotte, My Chemical Romance, Avril Lavigne, Paramore, Fountains of Wayne, FeFe Dobson, etc. Check them out, too. My younger milleeennial brother was into groups like these. As well as my GenZ children.
Many '80s references on this song and video. Yall are correct. Although this group started out in the late '90s. This song/video was actually during the 2000s. Fun song and video, it was huge.
When there was music still on MTV. I've always loved that line!
The sad part is when this came out there was still some music on MTV. Yes it was mostly countdowns and in the overnight hours but now there is literally zero music, I loved when at night on MTV and vh1 still showed music videos instead of reruns of the same show.

@@silverdoeGirl yeah it was nice being able to throw it on in the background and get a good variety of music. I also miss the behind the music stuff on vh1 and the unplugged stuff on MTV. Honestly the unplugged sessions are some of the best performances in history. The story tellers series was also so good.
@@rizeagle33 Sadly generic rubbish has taken over pure talent and plastic taken over authentic. I hardly even watch 'Normal'' TV now. The advertisers are too scared someone will kick up a fuss over something stupid and sue them for it. I pity the next generation.
@@silverdoeGirl there is still plenty of talent and good shit in the world. You just have to look for it. The thing is I'm in the middle because while I think some things have gone too far the other way, the old shit wasn't good either. There needed to be a shift in society but we haven't reached a good medium yet, but that doesn't mean we can't get there.
They used to play in San Angelo, TX at a laundry mat with probably less than 50 people. It was a blast and they were really nice guys/

Lex loves pop-punk. We knew it! 😆. This style was common during the '90s and '00s. Maybe thats why she thought '90s? This song and video was huge and it actually came out in 2004. It's been on many movies, too. Always liked this song and video, throwback to my childhood years ('80s). They were a decent group.

The artists they were portraying were Robert Palmer, 80’s rap videos, George Michael, Motley Crüe and the woman on the car related to the Whitesnake videos with Tawny Kitaen
You should check out the original version by SR-71 and compare the two. I believe Bowling for Soup's cover ended up being more popular on the radio.
I used to listen to SR-71's "Now You See Inside" album constantly. They were also great live. Their harmonies were fantastic (especially on "Fame (What She's Wanting)"). My favorite song on the album was "Empty Spaces" though. Also, "Politically Correct" is more apt today than it even was then.
I knew it was a cover, but had never actually listened to either(I only really know Right Now from SR-71, and BFS isn’t my thing). Just did though. Someone needs to do a version where they include each of the second verses. Cause even though BFS’s is great, it’s suspect(possibly?) that they decided to play it safe
SR-71's singer actually gave the song to BFS because he thought it sounded more like something they would perform.
Never really listened to this song until now, though I've heard it before; damn can I relate. 85' was a fun year for this 87' grad. We're having our 35th reunion next Saturday(9/10) and you all are invited.

As for this song... never heard it before. I'd guess late 90s/early 00s. It sounds kind of like Blink-182.
"Girl all the bad guys want," is their best song... by far! It's soo catchy! But they're still an amazing group with an incredible sense of humor and they're criminally underrated. So, it's nice to see you guys react to 'em!

Lex, your mom could probably relate to the song. I remember hearing it for the first time and thinking it was so funny. I was 24 in 1985 and married by the end of 1986. The mom in the song was still probably way cooler than her kids ever were, just saying.

There was the Robert Palmer set, then there was the LL Cool J/ Flava Flav set, the George Michaels' "Faith" set (Limp Bizkit did an awesome cover of it btw) and Motley Crue "Home Sweet Home" set. Though she was dancing on the car like Tawny Kitaen in Whitesnake's "Here I Go Again" video.

I remember when these guys were coming up in the club scene in D/FW in the 90's. They got a lot of love from The EDGE radio stations since they were local boys. I'm pretty sure I saw them a few times during that period. The Metroplex was full of music at the time and some of it runs together.

I just learned something crazy to me recently that this song was actually a cover originally written and recorded by a band called SR-71. The lead singer of that band is in this music video. He walks by and kind of shakes his head in the beginning.

This song wasn't on a show or Nickelodeon, but this group, "Bowling for Soup" did the theme song for the cartoon "Phineas and Ferb" on that channel. And they were even animated a few times into the show and did a few other songs for it.✌
Bowling for soup actually singed a contract with Disney and they were the ones that played the band in phineas and ferb. They also sang the theme song.

Amazing to think that everyone under 40 now has no idea that MTV actually played only music videos 24/7 for about the first 10 years or so, Headbangers Ball was the late night metal videos, 120 minutes was the alternative videos, Yo! MTV Raps was all the hip hop videos, then the first Real World show sent it all downhill to whatever it is now
