You are correct. But it's his car and if it's still driving then who am I to complain? BTW...the correct removal sequence is the exact opposite of the tightening sequence. I read that in the manual.
So if I want to replace springs and rockers do I have to have the engine at tdc? And if I’m wanting to replace the cam and lifters can I just pull them out replace the cam and put my new ones in

i’ve been reading is top dead center required to remove heads
No you can do it in any order as long as you properly torque each one while it’s in the up/ open position. Order doesn’t matter
