I have a 2005 GMC Yukon I just redid the head gaskets and mine did not have those two small bolts at the end. They all were same size and mine is a generation three I believe crazy anyway I was very confused for a while but I did research and the torque specs is first pass is 22 ft. pound second pass is 90° pass and third pass is 70° all of them.
On 04 tahoe the outer bolt low closest to firewall driver side. When you put the head on place the bolt so that the treads come out the bottom 1 and 1 half inch tape the bolt so it won't stick out to far the set the hea on the dowel pins .if you try to get that corner bolt in once you set the head it won't go in
Is the 3rd sequence done properly? Looks like at 8:49 and at 8:53 you applied 90 degrees 2 times to the same bolt (same with other bolts adjacent to the center ones) shouldn’t it be working towards the outside from the center bolts in a cross pattern applying 90 degrees torque? Please, the sequence was too fast, correct me if I’m wrong. Regards.
I have an 2010 5 gen camaro with a blower I recently did a intake swap and changed the valve covers car is throwing out white smoke from the tile pipes thick white smoke could it be the gaskets on the heads?
Im missing one alignment dowel on each side of my block. My only problems before taking everything apart were oil pump and lifters. Will everything be alright with one dowel on each side?
I just had this problem. I used a small flat head punch. Go in from the opposite side along the edge. You will feel it catch on the edge of the dowel, and just give some light taps with hammer
good afternoon or day a question bro if you could help me with this question what is the specific torque of a transmission 6l80E silverado 2012 v8 5.3 I want to service the transmission fluid change thanks 🙏🏻
Hello, pretty straight info, i have a doubt, i recently change my headgaskets and refurbished my heads on the machine shop, i torque them to 75ft/lb, ( all the 10 big bolts ) but i have pretty small coolant leak over the heads breather ( it get on the oil catch can reseivour installed ). Could be that i need to torque to the 3 steps torque method ? if i retorque again, can we be only loose all the bolts and aply this method? thanks sir.
See my bolts are different from these. I went to autozone and they gave me those same bolts but those long boys didn’t work, I got a 6.0 lq9, my head bolts are all the same size as the little ones you put in on each a side
So aren't you supposed to clean out the bolt holes first to remove all the stuff gm uses from factory? I've heard this is a good idea. Doing rebuild heads and new cam on my 5.3 truck since I think my coolant loss is coming from a cracked casting
How are you doing I just wanna ask you a quick question on the two out of bowls for whatever reason the threads stripped inside I can’t get a torque on them most likely it may be due to water like you said I took a napkin and napkin came out of the hole with the threads wet Now how can you correct that and if can I tap thread a new thread in to the hole or I can use a longer screw and make up the difference washers can you get back to me thank you so much my name is Wilfredo
I must have missed what you two are going on about. Bank 1 lifter trays are in place.....bank 2 cylinder head still needs to be installed properly. I don't see where the head would have to come off. Usually I'd see and clown on something like that....but....

Thanks for the video bro this is going to help for me a lot, when I build my Ls I have the same torque wrench works great worth every dollar👍🏻
Hey thanks bro taking time to show me southern cali appreciates it very much

It will just thread it in by hand it slips in

Wondering if gen 3 iron block is 22lbs, then 90 deg, then 70 deg or 90?,??? Then only the 2 end bolts @ 50 deg on third pass

No Way ! Needs both of them
@Bo build when your in angle mode you don't have to make one complete swing with you ratchet you can ratchet the bolt till you reach 90° .
Soo what’s the finally torque ???
Irrelevant since they are torque to yield. It’s all about turning it the correct amount in degrees. Only the first pass is torqued.
Does it matter if motor is at top dead center when putting them together?
No
I've got a dowel stuck in the head. What's a good technique to get it out? Thanks in advance.
Screw driver into the slot and hit with hammer then it'll spin out
I just had this problem. I used a small flat head punch. Go in from the opposite side along the edge. You will feel it catch on the edge of the dowel, and just give some light taps with hammer
806 heads… are they notched heads? Do you have the right head gaskets?
What's the spec for aluminum block?
Are the bolts torque once only. And new bolts required for reinstall??
Great tutorial
I need the numbers to torque down my head on my V6 4.3
Para 2010 Cadillac 6.2 es 22ft -90degres -70 degrees??
That's correct
Did you use any thread sealant or anything on head bolts ?
They come with it

Should go 10 lbs ft. On the transmission pan.
Which gasket brand did you go with? Not sure if eBay stuff works or go with MAHLE brand
Have you noticed what was to total torque after the first and the second 90 deg rotation? Thanks
just use 65 lbs, and you will be good
@@sinistersilverado965 alright thanks
@@sinistersilverado965instead of using the degree i can use 65 and i will be ok ?
@@Danielcruz6123no! Not recommended at all.
Do you have any content on installing the rockers
Torque setting for rocker arms, please

@Chance Guy you. Better. Do it again. With new bolts. You need 3 steps. On the bolts
See my bolts are different from these. I went to autozone and they gave me those same bolts but those long boys didn’t work, I got a 6.0 lq9, my head bolts are all the same size as the little ones you put in on each a side
You have an earlier version cylinder head if you have three bolt lengths and the two outer ones are shorter
My 05 LS has all short bolts
Will these torque specs be the same on the heads of an 06 avalanche 5.3.
yes
What model torque wrench is that
As far as the gasket is concerned. That initial run down of the bolts is probably the most important when it comes to sequence. SMH
So aren't you supposed to clean out the bolt holes first to remove all the stuff gm uses from factory? I've heard this is a good idea. Doing rebuild heads and new cam on my 5.3 truck since I think my coolant loss is coming from a cracked casting
Yes, also not supposed to handle the gaskets bare handed..
You are berry good Was the name of the gun please
Are you using a 1/2 or 3/8 tw wrench
Is it 50 or 70

You gotta take it back apart you didn't put the lifters in
I seen the lifter trey lol and he just had the valve cover sitting on it probably still had to put the push Rods and rockers back on

everyone I know reuses LS headbolts with no problems
Yah same. Matt Happel on Sloppy Mechanics has made over 1000hp reusing head bolts on boost. Same with head gaskets
@@drjonesxix994 Not everyone is born with the same luck...
👍
way to fast on the sequence WTF!
