thank you for uploading this. I didn't want to play through the terran campain , but I couldn't allow myself to miss a great blizzard story. Now I can go play the zerg, I do plan on playing them trough to the end.
@fealmor Probably the cannon was finished shortly before the Sons Of Korhal occupied Tarsonis's primary orbital platform and the confederates didn't have time to activate it!! I guess that was the location because the other 2 platforms were occupied by the zerg and protoss forces and Duke is the one who activates it in the end!
@poisonmist13 Missile turrets will never catch nuking ghosts; their detection range is shorter than that of a ghost's nuking range. You're better off using patrolling Science Vessels around your turrets, and have Siege Tanks behind them.
If upgraded to level 3, yeah. Battlecruisers in SC2 were more than capable to turn a squad of Marines to cinders. SC1 Battlecruisers were absurdly powerful, they were expensive and took too long to make.
@dewbead i meant early MISSIONS, but what you said still kind of applies, because they baby you pretty much until the last mission in the terran campaign
man i easily beat the previous missions, but here my units always got locked by those fucking ghosts.and the computer reaction is 0ms.for one second he locks all.
yeah, siege tanks locked and ground forces overwhelmed. i found out the secret to getting through this quick is to use rines to push front and clear out ghosts than bring in 4-6 cruisers to take on the overwhelming forces.
@fealmor Also Mengsk had no intention to attack either the protoss or the zerg because he disengaged the fleet from Tarsonis! He wanted Tarsonis made to dust as a payback to what the Confederates did to Korhal when they bombed it with 1000 nuclear bombs!
Man this mission is a pain. I keep getting nuked! I've covered the place in missile turrents and I've NEVER caught the ghost responsable! And it's always in the same spot. Anyone else have this problem?
I had it couple time, the secret is put turrets three units away from the bunkers, and initially build Vultures and put spider mines. After getting enough minerals and vespene gas go for Siege Tanks in Siege mode around the bunkers
Nice, just getting the cruisers up then blasting through to the cannon. I like the mission, especially when you try to wipe them out, i spent like 6 hours just playing this one it got to the point that they ran out of minerals while i still had like 5000. I just destroyed their futile assaults, They sending one tank in at a time against 6 In siege mode and 2 bunkers of marines. The AI in starcraft is funny sometimes, it just tends to waste units.
@fealmor I think you really shouldn't try to ask how such an huge cannon works... just imagine how long it would take to build another or to move this one, its an HUGE target that's real easy to take out.. you have heard of an thing called Ambush, right?
If I recall correctly Artanis IS the player Protoss character in SC1 and the Brood War Protoss PC is possibly Selendis. But the others are probably dead; Kerrigan destroyed the cerebrates after her victory in the Brood War, the Colonial Magistrate is unclear, and the UED captain was almost certainly killed during the UED defeat.
@manning180 Then use more Science Vessels. Mobile detector. Also, this guy has a more steady defensive approach. I've beaten this mission many times with little difficult, but that comes with experience. If you want, you can see what I did in my video, the type of strategy I went for. I wanted to beat it fast. I just uploaded the video today even though my recording is 5 months old. I am a procrastinator, lol!
Just use a dropship with like 4 ghost, 2 nukes and some wraiths to kill the missile turrets near the ion cannon. Kill the turrets, land the ghost near the cannon already cloaked, move them in without attacking anything and send the two nukes.
The only thing I still don't understand why Raynor needed an old Confederate adjutant to uncover the conversation of the planting of the psi emitters and that famous quote of Arcturus about burning everything to ashes. I mean, the guy told it directly to him on the radio. And come on, it's the 25th century, didn't Raynor have any device to record that conversation himself when it happened?...
somehow that bitch arch was making me mad one time, funny though i got through this mission with my rage all the time cause he was also talking to you thinking that you're nothing to him and when his last command center standin up ready to destroy i was like kiss my ass now bitch lol i really have angre issues but then again he died and got me through lol
After replaying this mission recently, anyone notice the political relevance in this day and age? Just replace Raynor and Mengsk with Elon Musk and Donald Trump after the Paris climate fallout. EDIT as of 4/9/2023: Man this comment did not age well. lol
The last three Terran missions were so fucking epic. Almost forget that it's just a game at times.
1:01-1:15
The words that would come back to haunt him in Sc2.
"The fleet has lost contact with the ground forces at news Gettysburg"
Sent chills in my spine as a child playing this game
It is all mengsk's fault
Because he left kerrigan to become the queen of blades
Well, Kerrigan was responsible for assassinating his father, so it was a two-way payback.
@@WarbossR0kt00fSant0s I wonder why that wasn't explained in the story.
@@Agent1W It was before the game, btw.
@@WarbossR0kt00fSant0s So why didn't Kerrigan just assassinate Mengsk before he got the chance to "sacrifice" her? She was a telepath.
@@Agent1W I've got no idea. Seems that Mengsk has a way to protect his mind from her telepathy.

In the future, ASS will be sold in stocks.

This is the mission that made use google and ask for help, this is such a great game, can't wait to play SC2 but not until i finish this one.
@fealmor the term "Ion Cannon" has been used in a lot of science fiction. CNC just makes the Ion Cannon most notable within universe.
@poisonmist13 Missile turrets will never catch nuking ghosts; their detection range is shorter than that of a ghost's nuking range. You're better off using patrolling Science Vessels around your turrets, and have Siege Tanks behind them.
Holy crap, did Battlecruisers really one-shot Marines back then?!
If upgraded to level 3, yeah. Battlecruisers in SC2 were more than capable to turn a squad of Marines to cinders. SC1 Battlecruisers were absurdly powerful, they were expensive and took too long to make.
In the end, our greatest enemy is ourselves
@MysteryAC Funny how these words are what was hidden within the adjutant we see... we discovered it in SC2.
Ahhhhhh battlecruisers the zerg rush of the terran military.
1:01 :D
Hearts and Minds man, just like you always said.
Belay that order!
Mengsk betrayed Kerringen and in doing so condemed billions to die for someting so pointless as power and petty revenge
Nice avatar mate! Vidomina!
i actually took out all structures and enemies on the map, took me one hour, also no cattle cruisers.
yeah, siege tanks locked and ground forces overwhelmed. i found out the secret to getting through this quick is to use rines to push front and clear out ghosts than bring in 4-6 cruisers to take on the overwhelming forces.

at 4:25 you can see the ACME stocks have gone down -22.32 stock points. Harsh..

Also can help a Science Vessel with some Wraiths

I love this game
What was the point of destroying the Canon if Mengsk wins after all? I don't get it. Why we don't destroy him completely in this mission?
I had epic speeches as well. too bad I am a maniac.
@fealmor I think you really shouldn't try to ask how such an huge cannon works...
just imagine how long it would take to build another or to move this one, its an HUGE target that's real easy to take out..
you have heard of an thing called Ambush, right?
@WheresTheAnyKey1 At the ends and beginnings I think.
Stalin had epic speeches as well. too bad he was a maniac.
50 Battlecruisers always solves a big problem! X-D
are there cinematics in between missions or during missions or just at the end?
You know what i found weird?
What happened to they player characters from sc1?
They're clearly referenced then they just aren't in sc2.
@dewbead but what about before you get wraiths =O
@sungyultaylor Emperor Mengsk is my favorite character.
@manning180 Then use more Science Vessels. Mobile detector. Also, this guy has a more steady defensive approach. ion cannon ? is that from c&c

szbszig he needed it for proof. If a supposed rebel told the people this, no one would believe him.
szbszig he already knew it.
@MysteryAC I laughed so hard when I saw that cutscene. Serves the sanctimonious, egotistical bastard right.
Arcturus Mengsk and his Dominion are no difference to the Confederacy
or anay one
I love how he says anyone
Some of the stock names in the ticker ACME, ASS lol
He's Charasmatic. And thats whats wrong with him.
Could the commander you're being be Matt Horner?
Avery Deschambeault no, it's general war field.
Trainer Your procrastinating aren't you hmm that actually makes sense
Trainer Your procrastinating aren't you It's Matt because the general is with Mengsk abd this last mission we go with Raynor.
Touche.
all hail emperor mengsk
Man, Mengsk and General Douche's armies are REALLY annoying in this mission.
UNN(UNITED NEW NETWORK)
When it should only take 5-10. I NEVER liked how the bcruisers shoot one cannon beam at a time.
its turn based. the animation shouldn't define the data in this point in time.
if they had the ion cannon use it on the portoss ? or szerg ????? WHAT THE FUCK
@MysteryAC lol yea that would be funny to watch
freedom died
somehow that bitch arch was making me mad one time, funny though i got through this mission with my rage all the time cause he was also talking to you thinking that you're nothing to him and when his last command center standin up ready to destroy i was like kiss my ass now bitch lol i really have angre issues but then again he died and got me through lol
very hard mission
전투순양함.항공모함.영덕대게
@LoneAce066
lmfao

LMAO He’s not Raynor but Duke
