  • This is Zerg mission 5 from the Starcraft: Brood War campaign, titled True Colors.
    This is probably my favorite Zerg mission, Kerrigan is now the enemy of everyone.

      I don't think so. Heros can be broodlinged and the only mechanic to prevent that, that I know of, is making the unit invulnerable through the map editor. I think the AI is supposed to not Mind Control heros, but I had Kerrigan broodlinged in New Gettysberg, for example (even though that seems to happen very rarely).

    It shows just how sinister and bloodthirsty Kerrigan and the Zerg have become, and you kill off two very story heavy main characters, especially Fenix whom Raynor had a close friendship with, it almost drove Raynor insane with rage.

    To ppl asking what happened to Dagoth:
    Actually Dagoth died when they destroyed the second Overmind which was growing on Char, because the new Overmind was formed of all remaining cerebrates and they all died in the 4th chapter (except the one that was played by us in 6th chapter.)
    By the way It's awesome how Kerrigan gets so pissed off after Fenix reminds her of being fooled by Tasadar on Char. I can literally feel the tone of her voice changing

    • @darth856
      @darth856 5 років тому +2

      But cerebrates appear on Char in chapter 5? And Duran mentions the last cerebrates (except the player) having perished with the second Overmind towards the end of chapter 6. I always assumed that Daggoth died somewhere around there, in the aftermath of the To Slay the Beast mission?

    • @masterexploder9668
      @masterexploder9668 5 років тому +2

      Cerebrates are not meant to live without Overmind, that was the point of creating a Second Overmind. Duran reports that after death of Overmind and it's cerebrates that all Zerg reverted to her direct control. So he died due to no Overmind or Kerrigan killed him. Doesn't matter, he's gone.

    • @psionicstorm3961
      @psionicstorm3961 2 роки тому +1

      Daggoth died when the second Overmind did, as did all cerebrates. I assume in the last couple missions in the Zerg campaign that you aren't roleplaying anybody although I don't remember if Kerrigan directly refers to you as "cerebrate" in "The Reckoning" or "Omega".

    • @joshpeterson2451
      @joshpeterson2451 5 років тому +10

      Basically, it took a stupid, made-up prophecy to completely retcon SC:BW. I hate chosen one prophecies in games. How about armies determine the outcome of the universe, not some invincible messianic character.

    • @joshpeterson2451
      @joshpeterson2451 5 років тому +14

      Lugiathan,
      The concept of a bigger conflict than just TvZvP was hinted at in the bonus mission, with Duran being a big player, but the prophecy that Kerrigan is needed to save the universe was definitely new. I hate how all games now seem to be turning into a messianic character defeating the big bad meanie of the game. That’s what made Starcraft 1’s plot so interesting. The big names like Mengsk, Raynor, Kerrigan, DuGalle, etc. were calling the shots as tacticians, but it was their armies that decided the battle, not some contrived prophecy that turned Kerrigan into an invincible god and let her off the hook, even though she murdered billions.
      StarCraft 2 looks really dumb when you go back and play StarCraft: Brood War, because Duran helped Kerrigan come to power. Why on earth would a Xel’Naga help Kerrigan come to power when Kerrigan is the one who can’t be controlled by Amon like the Overmind could be controlled. If Duran put a bullet in Kerrigan so that the Zerg could back to being led by an Overmind, just like Amon always wanted, then we don’t have Starcraft 2, and Amon wins. It was really dumb.

    I think I understood Jim Raynor when he vowed that. You look at someone dear to you that became so twisted and evil that you almost see no hope in restoring them. Killing him/her outright seems to be the only possible solution, but what if there was another way?

Later in Heart of the swarm when Kerrigan is saving Jim from prison he reminds her about fenix and wants to kill her but he doesnt. Insted in his furry he puts all the bullets in a wall behind her. I can accept the fact the universe needed Kerrigan, and all the Dark Voice Mambo jumbo, but in Starcraft II it's like the Brood War never happened! Sure there's the Spartan Company but Raynor kept bitching about how Mengsk manipulated him when very recently it was Kerrigan who pulled all the strings. It's like they just made Kerrigan the mindless mass-murderer. It's like Fenix never died, and his death is the reason why Raynor was so damned pissed at Kerrigan,

    As for the Fallen One's, idk what to make of it. First, the protoss didn't even come to help Jim against Kerrigan, so that's first draw back from a strategic assault, 2nd, Kerrigan had limitless Zerg forces.. It's not just questionable, it's very unlikely.

    Using scourges on Duke is extra funny considering that's how he was beat and needed rescueing in the first game as well.

    The bloodlust was caused by Amons taint which was purged by the Xel'naga artifact. When she became the Primal Queen of Blades. Ever notice how she stopped the countless murders after being cleansed? She still had unspeakable hatred for Mengsk, which was well deserved. Remember how she nearly broke down saying "I killed so many as the Queen of Blades". She felt quilt, sorrow and frustration. That in itself if proof enough that become a Zerg caused her to do most of her killings.

    @pirateking193 If you're referring to any novel,I have no idea,I've only played the game(s).Yes,she was controlled by the Overmind-as any Zerg in the beggining but when the Overmind was killed,she got her free will and did all those things.Now,how the infestation played a role in her decisions,I believe it's unclear-it did had something to do,we can't know how important.SPOILERS Duran was also infested but as we saw,his decisions were clearly his own SPOILERS
    Doesn't Fenix deserve to be back?

    Sequels not being true to the series is a recurring topic nowadays. I think it's partially because no sequels are planned at the stage of the intial product, but when companies smell money they decide to pull a sequel plot literally out of their ass. And in the case of blizzard it just so happens that they pulled out kerrigan flying away to the leviathan while jimmy stares at her lovingly, basking in the sunset. I sincerely hope legacy of the void doesn't deliver another mass effect-ish ending

    @7heaven100 I played all four, the dark one stated the kerrigan was the only who could stop him.
    It was only after the fourth mission did Raynor learn that he was the one who killed her, and doomed the universe in the future.

    Nah, Kerrigan was right about him, he didn't have what it took to be a killer. Now when Raynor was bitching about the Dominion shooting civilians after what he did to that poor confederate scientist who called him "rebel scum" on the other hand, that was just hilarious.

    @toxicitzi Well,the Terrans were gone at that time (if you're referring to In Utter Darkness) and we don't know what became of the artifact.
    As you say,the story has to go a certain way.

    Kerrigan was still a Queen Bitch Mass Murderer. 'Society Made Me Do It' is not a valid excuse, and does not alter the fabric of reality that makes her not the person that did those things.
    I did actually expect Kerrigan to achieve some sort of redemption eventually, but I expected it to be a lot more mature, and feel like I earned some hope for Kerrigan. Not just tick off some mission boxes and whip out a Deus Ex Machina and walk into the sunset with naked fembot.

  • @SuperMudz

    Well, if she feels bad about it then that's TOTALLY different. Why, if only Hitler or Stalin had shown some remorse, I'm sure there would have been no issues at all.
    And no, I don't accept retcons in lieu of logic. Going from "I'm one of the Zerg now, and I like what I am" and running around killing everyone can't just be swept under the carpet as "but secretly there was this evil god that just made her do all that stuff. She's really just a sweet girl."

    Kerrigan did what she did but because some game programmers are ***** she is going to just walk away with it because she is the only hope of the universe-st000pid Blizzard.Without even explaining how she will save it.
    Yeah,Raynor is truly a man that keeps his word-if only I had 100 Battlecruisers Yamato Gun him.The fact that he decided to spare Kerrigan and forget about Fenix gave me a lot of pain,even more because Jimmy is my most favorite..

    @toxicitzi Zeratul trusted Raynor (that Jimmy wouldn't need his help) and Artanis didn't make contact with him.But his right hand,Selendis wanted to purify Haven(I don't know if that was Artanis' or Selendis' call) something very gruesome,a reminder of the old Conclave and Aldaris.I don't think Jimmy would want any help from Protoss who don't count human lives.
    Now if Fenix was around he would surely tag along and bring some help for Jimmy,especially vs the Zerg.But he may be around(for example
