You need to understand that US currency is worth a lot in some countries. 1USD is worth 2.5 tala (Samoan currency). Things cost about the same amount in Samoa compared to the US. Single meal at a cheap restaurant is about 14 tala yet 14 tala is worth less then 6 US dollars. So if he got a damn job that made 40k a year that would be like making 100k a year in Samoa. Therefore it's not surprising to see that his family thinks he should have a lot of money since it's worth quite a bit more in Samoa. Madagascar is an example of extreme currency fluctuations. I have a friend from Madagascar who lives here in the US, he sends $1,000 to his family every month. 1 USD is worth 3,900 Ariary (Madagascar currency). So he is literally sending them 3.9 million dollars a month. Which makes his family extremely wealthy. Basically a basic job in the US is like having a super high paying job in Samoa.
Basically he courted her, and he took his shirt off and then that sealed the deal for her. I think their relationship is too rushed especially because they had a baby and he didn’t want to leave her with the baby. He’s 23, she’s 30. Their life experiences are a little different too. He really needs to grow up still though and fast

Yea it sucks, my culture is sorta similar where parents generally don’t respect their kids and expect to be ‘repaid’ for raising them. Not saying they don’t love their kids but they definitely don’t have respect for them.
To be fair, Buff appears to be thinking of ingredients you'd add to the vinegar when making pickles. That's why he suggested peppers, I'm sure he assumed Ken knew what cucumbers were and was trying to describe the flavour ingredients. Pickles aren't just cucumbers in plain vinegar.

I think they don't actually realize how much it costs to just live in "First World" countries. Having a home costs a lot of money, getting food is basically confined to the grocery store (unless you are able to buy all the stuff you'd need to drive to go to a hunting or fishing spot but if you could do all of that you could just go to the grocery store with how much bullets and gas cost), you NEED a car (in America) to be able to get to work and if you don't have one you wind up having to pay for public transport which also isn't cheap and that's IF your city/town has public transit. And in America you've got the Healthcare system and with them having kids that's a whole animal of its own. We may LOOK rich, but we're not.

I love Kalanis' big eyes. People overseas always think Americans have money to burn. Yeah, Mom, you need money, who doesn't? I firmly believe in ghosts, I've seen and heard some things. The son is expected to take care of both of his families. They think that because he lives in the US now that he is rich. Asuelu needs to grow a spine and tell Mom like it is.
He won't because it's easier to fight with and leave Kalani and GO HOME to where he's more comfortable AND with him Mommy.
He doesn't see his new wife in that way because that's not how he was taught to treat "women." HIS MOM & SISTERS?!?!? OH, he BETTER respect them! However, he's kind of left to his own devices too much when dealing with women in RL.
He's lucky he's in a "resort/vacation hotspot" AND on TV; otherwise he'd be just another random dude that couldn't get a job. His mom and family are really inconsiderate- "You guys have 2 toddlers, you're paying for 4 plane tickets to come see us, maybe 5 if they pay for the sister too, buy dinner for everyone (what was it? idk, grilled cheese and fries that nobody ate? ok!) AND they're pissed that you're ONLY HANDING OVER $100 CASH to them!!!!
imho- his sisters just don't WANT to help out their mother and that makes me sick, because they won't help, but they'll try to make him feel bad for not sending money.
Ll
💯% agree 👍🏻
Basically he courted her, and he took his shirt off and then that sealed the deal for her. I think their relationship is too rushed especially because they had a baby and he didn’t want to leave her with the baby. He’s 23, she’s 30. Their life experiences are a little different too. He really needs to grow up still though and fast
His mood this whole episode: “I got you 100 bucks mom, the best of the best”
Or, "Mom i spent 400 on transport and food, here is what is left."
She gave such a wholesome speech but then… “I need money.”
It's a lot harder to make money in Samoa. Not to mention US currency is worth 2.5 of Samoa currency. Asuelu could actually make his family a lot of money with a basic job. If he was in California, minimum wage is $14/hour, that would be the same as getting a job in Samoa that makes 35 Tala (Samoan currency) an hour. Where as her other children make around 15 Tala per hour, unless they live in rural Samoa. So with a basic minimum wage job he makes as much as 2 people in Samoa. That's also assuming that his family lives somewhere that has a regulated minimum wage to begin with. If they live in a much more rural part of Samoa then he could easily make as much as 3-4 Samoans off a basic US wage. Plus, if we consider the possibility of him finding a job that makes 40k a year which would be $19.23/hour he could potentially be making more money then all his siblings combined. If his family does live in a federally regulated area, then he would be making as much as 4 of his siblings combined.
@@green7449 He still has to pay bills, look out for his children. act like the man in the house. Why dont the sisters go work for their mom then? My first thought was to tell his sister that I will find her a job where she will get more than a thousand dollars each month that she can sent to grandma, so i can see how "happy" she will be.

Bruh, dude is struggling and eating ramens at my home, he ain't gonna send you 1000$.
