Thank you so much for posting this! This may have been my first foray into the horror genre. I remember watching this with my Mom on TV when I was in the 4th grade. Been hooked ever since. Forgot about it it until I stumbled across this today. Mom is now 77 and suffering from Dementia. I wish we could watch and discuss this like we used to...Thank You again.

Thank you for the upload. I mean this with so much emotion attached to it. My sis and I searched for this movie high and low. I literally have not seen this since I was a child. Much thanks!!!
Aside from the creepy horror aspect of this movie, the people in the village seem to have some of the values of the Amish and Mennonites; keeping things simple and as unaffected by the outside world as possible, following long held traditions, a strong sense of community - all wonderful traits. I grew up in Lancaster County, Pa and I’m blessed to have grown up in such an environment. I think because of this, I always found this movie to be very unsettling and it disturbed me because it kind of “corrupted” the wholesome vision I always held for the Amish. I saw this series when I was 15 years old and never forgot it. I’m so happy to see it again after all these years! Thank you!

I was only 10 years old, when this first came out! I remember this mini-series on NBC. Betty Davis scared the crap out of me, as the head witch! Especially when I found out she poked out that lady’s husband’s eyes, because he snuck out and tried to spy on those witches! Or when she (Betty Davis) tortured that man by cutting his tongue out, for trying to warn that family about the secret of “Harvest Home!” These witches took #METOO to the next level, 43 years before #METOO existed!! The crazy thing is, there wasn’t a single black person in this movie, which was factual! Ain’t no black family leaving the city to join no lily white, scary “Amish like”community, to worship some ",corn idol!!

I remember seeing this movie on tv. I loved it. Betty Davis is so spooky. She is the queen of the crops. An actress who never got her due. The movie has been one of my favorites since I saw on TV many years ago. Every now and then I get an yearning to watch this classic horror movie. Just think this classic was made for tv. This movie does not need to be made over. Thank you for sharing such a wonderful gothic.
Bette Davis was an “actress who never got her due”? She was the first actor/actress to have ten Academy Awards nominations and won two. She was one of the biggest Hollywood names of her era and even afterwards she received the honor of having a song named for her and her expressive eyes!: ua-cam.com/video/EPOIS5taqA8/v-deo.html She loved it!
Evidently, you don't know much about BETTE Davis. She won two Oscars, opened The Hollywood Canteen, and had a long, distinguished film, and television career.
Harry100 I think towards the end of her career, after she played Baby Jane, the only offers she got were for horror movies, which she did, for the money. But I don’t think she was happy about it. Hard for older actresses, I guess they are lucky if they get work at all. Still the same today.
I can't believe I have finally seen it: somebody now feels that BETTE DAVIS, of all the adored and worshiped movie icons of all time, "never got her due." I guess it must be because you hadn't been born yet. I dunno WHAT to say.
@Kaz Poole Oh boy, you are not making any friends with that. Is it your intention to antagonize people and create enemies for trans gender women? I believe it is. They don't use the term "tranny."

A lot of things creeped me out watching this as a kid! That guy without the tongue!😩 Bette Davis was a gem, like no other. She wasn’t afraid to take on tv projects even though she had been a big star in movies for so long. I still wrack my mind about what actually happened to Grace Aberdeen. Or maybe something went over my head! lol Many stars of the 70’s in this mini series. Thank you for uploading this. 🌽🎬
I remember when this was aired ,And it spooked me big time, Bette Davis was so good and a young Rosanne Arquittee . This is the first time I've seen it uncut.
I saw this movie when I was but a wee tot. And have been looking for the movie for at least six years. Not knowing the movie’s name, ant actors and only one scene made finding this movie a true mystery. Brings back memories of a much simpler time.
I read the book the same year this aired for the first time. A seamless transition from pages to film. Fell in love with the name "Worthy" as a result. A truly chilling piece of psychological horror.
I was born & raised on Sand Mountain, northeastern Alabama, in Southern Appalachia. My mother's family moved there from South Carolina around 1827 - showed up on Marshall Co. census in 1930. My mother's ancestors came from northern England close to the Scottish border. I'm just two generations away from subsistence farmers. My paternal grandfather came down to Alabama from middle Tennessee. His ancestors came from Scotland. We always had a garden, fruit trees, muscadines (wild red grapes), scuppernong (wild white grapes), picked blackberries. We had cattle & hogs. We had well water until I was 14. I still hate "city water". There really is something spiritually positive about planting a garden , getting your hands down in the dirt, the smell, seeing the first little shoots coming up. I miss living in the hippie Southside neighborhood of Birmingham AL. One of my neighbors grew several rows of corn every year - probably to hide the cannabis he was also growing, too, LOL.
When I was a teenager I went with a friend to babysit and it happened to be at this house . I saw the carriage that they used also . It was something I will never forget .
This was an astonishing tv horror production for its time; it pushed the envelope, as the saying goes. The opening credits music immediately impressed me with its lilting, haunting melody which shifts into an eerie, sinister-sounding mood.
The guy who played David also played John Travolta's brother, Father Frank Jr. In Saturday Night Fever. Another good movie is Crowhaven Farm starring Hope Lange.
I didn't like that one, which might be a recommendation in itself. I found it slapped together without imagination and held in place with chewing gum, the main character turning mean and insensitive without development, hauling off and hitting her mate in the face before there's any reason for a change in her, just a retread poorly done, a big headlong rush to the gruesome sadistic witch coven killing people parts before they could lose their audience.
Crowhaven Farm, yes, all I remember is Hope Lange keeps having flashbacks (as nauseum) about being buried by people with big slabs of stone covering her. Not sure how good it would be seeing it again.
Crowhaven Farm was one of those early 1970s creepy 90 minute movies of the week that was made for tv and has its memorable moments and like most of them tv horror flicks of the day probably terrified the kids but less effective watching as an adult Enjoy it for what it is but don't expect a masterpiece . What 70s horror movies did well was creepy atmosphere.
Whomever uploaded this video---it wouldn't hurt to include the late "Betty Davis" along with the title. She's was a very famous actor. Her name would certainly pull in more viewers. Thank you, so much for the upload, by the way. Well worth the watch. The older films, are the best!!
It's crazy how many times I think of some old movie or comedy routine and when I look for it, it's just been recently uploaded. (Cue twilight zone theme.)
It’s because of the chips they’ve implanted in our brains. I literally had the thought last night “he held my hand” and the exact thing next video title on the scroll down was about holding hands.
With me, I'll think of an actor I haven't seen or heard about in decades, wonder whatever happened to him or her, and suddenly that actor is everywhere, showing up in everything, and it goes on like that for decades more. The first time it happened was with the actor who played the black guy in The Mod Squad.
It didn’t scare me. I thought it was pretty cool, kind of like how the female preying mantis kills the male after sex. Just a neat little system, in general.
I am just starting to watch this. I vaguely remember it on the tv. I know it was scary, but all I remember is the little girl in it. I think it was a good one. Thanks for sharing.
@DancesInCombatBoots ! The film was shot at various locations in downtown Kingsville and Conneaut and many residents worked on the project, either on set, or as extras. In some cases even by allowing their historic homes and buildings, such as the Simak Welcome Center, to be used for filming.

Why the studio never released this classic TV Miniseries is a mystery. In the horror genre its one of the scariest ever filmed and a very moody atmosphere. I bought a copy from someone online and the resolution is so bad its nearly un watchable. What a shame that this classic is on some back shelf at a studio!

Wish this mini series got more love and was put on blu ray, or shown on tv again...TCM?. I remember watching this when I was in high school when it first came out. Very good acting and writing for the time, and I was genuinely creeped out by several scenes. Bette Davis absolutely embodies Widow Fortune.
Me too. This is fiction, so it's okay, but they try to pawn off scenarios just like it and worse in these Ghost TV Reality BS programs. You start to notice that all the different families, who don't know each other but of course do know the staff creating the show, use the same odd words, like always calling a house "the home" instead of "the house" as normal people would. Obviously scripted even if there's a kernel of fact in those stories. Nobody would stay "in the home" as long as these people claim to have stayed, with their babies continuing to sleep in the nursery apart from mommy and daddy, and every impossible idiocy you can imagine on your most gullible day. Bloody hand points at housewife and starts screaming? She keeps right on setting the table for supper, refusing to look at it, because worse things await them all, things they'll tolerate for months, even years, before getting the heck out. Except that in nearly every case they call in an exorcist before leaving, and the show winds up with a lot of screeching, waving of candles and commands to BEGONE from a Catholic priest, because "the disturbance" always turns out to be not ghostly but demonic. Viewers seem to insist on it, so the show just gives them what they want.
Thanks for posting this! Would you mind setting it so that auto-generated closed captions are available? You can do that in settings. I'm a bit hard of hearing and find it really helps. Thanks :)

Creepy fun. The moral of the lesson. If you cross the bridge and decide to stay it's best to just go with the flow. Swimming against the current can have dark, and I do mean dark, consequences.
I hate being an insomniac ... I always watch a movie before bed in the hopes of falling asleep. Before I know it I am invested in the movie and characters and can't stop watching until it's over. I picked a long one tonight so I am really wanting to get some sleep. I tried all the ASMR crap and there is always some kind of sudden, unexpected noise that jolts me awake the second I am almost asleep. I am starting to think it's a conspiracy. Maybe some sleeping tablets if I could find the right one. Okay I'm done rambling for now and have to stop before I write a bloody novel. Night, night ✌
This scared the shit out of me and froze the piss in my bladder as a kid. So hard to find a decent copy of it, but this appears to be pretty good audio and video, Thank you very much!
Me too!! I can not believe how scarry this movie was to me as a kid. I was so excited when I found the shortened version to re-watch after all these years. Unfortunately to my shock, the shorter version was actually boring! This longer version is not of great quality but I'm super psyched to see it again the way I remember it! Thanks for uploading!
The Grand Dame in one of her last performances…brilliant. The perfection of Bette Davis makes this timeless. I remember watching this when it first came out and it’s just as terrifying now as it was then 🧡🧡🧡
I don’t remember seeing Bette Davis and Cornwall Coombs until Beth and Nick moved there. Is this a director’s cut? Great movie. The 70s saw a lot of great drama. The author, Thomas Tryon, previously had written The Other, which was made into another good film.
@otterlover95 "the big screen" is a euphemism for movie theater - because of the extremely large screen. Kinda like referring to movies as "flicks". That word comes from "flickers". Over 100 years ago, movie light appeared to flicker on "the big screen". Used in a sentence:. I saw a flick last night on the big screen...
otterlover95 I believe what he is talking about is a big production, movie studio remake. It’s such an awesome story...this TV movie was good, but so much more could be done with it.
The producers really lucked out.Miss Bette Davis read the book when it was new, and told her agent if this was to be made into a movie she wanted the role of Mary Fortune.
One of my favorites. Today's horror movies rely solely on blood and gore. This was a made-for-TV miniseries, and it was better than any of today's gorefests. So creepy.
I read a passing reference to a 1970s TV movie in Stephen King's book Danse Macabre ("NBC’s ill-advised adaptation of Thomas Tryon’s Harvest Home...."), and just a few quick clicks later, I'm watching it. Such a thing was never even possible when King wrote that! God, I love the internet! It's amazing!

She was one of the biggest Hollywood names of her era and even afterwards she received the honor of having a song named for her and her expressive eyes!:
ua-cam.com/video/EPOIS5taqA8/v-deo.html
She loved it!
Finally full version pre funeral. Big thankyou
Oh my gosh. I remember this movie! Scared me silly as a kid. This makes my day!! 👏👏👏
I remember this mini-series on NBC. Betty Davis scared the crap out of me, as the head witch! Especially when I found out she poked out that lady’s husband’s eyes, because he snuck out and tried to spy on those witches! Or when she (Betty Davis) tortured that man by cutting his tongue out, for trying to warn that family about the secret of “Harvest Home!”
These witches took #METOO to the next level, 43 years before #METOO existed!! The crazy thing is, there wasn’t a single black person in this movie, which was factual! Ain’t no black family leaving the city to join no lily white, scary “Amish like”community!!
yes what the hell happend to Grace Aberdeen?
I remember when this was aired ,And it spooked me big time, Bette Davis was so good and a young Rosanne Arquittee . This is the first time I've seen it uncut.
I saw this movie when I was but a wee tot. And have been looking for the movie for at least six years. Not knowing the movie’s name, ant actors and only one scene made finding this movie a true mystery. Brings back memories of a much simpler time.
I read the book the same year this aired for the first time. A seamless transition from pages to film. Fell in love with the name "Worthy" as a result. A truly chilling piece of psychological horror.
Is the book better? I am considering buying it. Please let me know. I like the name Worthy too.
This flick is weird. It's partly comedic because the actor accents from the town flip between southern twang and imitated british.
@@arthurswanson3285 By any chance, have you read the book?
@@MrRJMGREEN I bought it and am reading it now. Its well written, I wish I hadnt seen the movie first though.
@@arthurswanson3285 Thank you. :)
What a treat to see Bette Davis. She’s my absolute fave.
She has a weird voice.
A fabulous actress
mine too
I was a kid when this came out. She kind of creeped me out.
But she's always the same, playing herself really.
I've seen the three-hour version, or maybe three and a half, but this complete version is better. Thanks.
Rosanna Arquette is so young and pretty in this movie!
Bette Davis is terrific! Thanks for the upload, I’ve never seen this movie.
Yes! Thank you for putting this out there. A classic story.❤❤❤
I was searching for this movie for many years now gonna look part 1 and 2 thank you for uploading 💞
I thought I recognized Father Frank!
The older films, are the best!!
so they can take it down.
It's Bette not Betty
It's crazy how many times I think of some old movie or comedy routine and when I look for it, it's just been recently uploaded. (Cue twilight zone theme.)
I know, like a song that I haven't heard since the 80s or 90s will run through my mind and then the next day, I'll hear it on the radio. Funny!
I've noticed the same thing. It is kind of a Twilight Zone thing.
It’s because of the chips they’ve implanted in our brains. I literally had the thought last night “he held my hand” and the exact thing next video title on the scroll down was about holding hands.
Robert Brotherton -That happens to me a lot, too!
Usually in ‘cycles’. 👍🏼
With me, I'll think of an actor I haven't seen or heard about in decades, wonder whatever happened to him or her, and suddenly that actor is everywhere, showing up in everything, and it goes on like that for decades more. The first time it happened was with the actor who played the black guy in The Mod Squad.
I remember when I saw this movie for the first time...omg it scared the absolute crap out of me lol...
Im watchin it now. On a binge wiv 70's creepy horror movies
I remember watching this as a kid with my mom, miss those days, but this movie creeped me out. In a good way
Some of these movies locations we're filmed in my small town Conneaut Ohio. And Kingsville Ohio.
@DancesInCombatBoots ! don't forget kingsville is in it too! :)
@DancesInCombatBoots ! The film was shot at various locations in downtown Kingsville and Conneaut and many residents worked on the project, either on set, or as extras. In some cases even by allowing their historic homes and buildings, such as the Simak Welcome Center, to be used for filming.
Michael O'Keefe who played Worthy Pettinger is also known for his role as Danny Noonan in 1980's Caddyshack.
wayne zimmerman. He was also married to Bonnie raitt
I did not know that, thanks. :)

@@davidhanshaw7840 "During the 1980's in U.K ..They where groups like this for real ..using taboo 14th & 16th century satanic worshippers rights ..very small English towns well off the tracks ..All rampant child abusers senior conservatives party including members of ( royalty ) ..and law enforcement just covering up everything ..A really bad times 1980's especially if you were a small kid in the care system you were nobody, a nothing , not even a number, ..That's What this film really brings out! ..for me!

Scared me when i first saw it ,still good almost 40 yr on ,and Betty Davis was fab
Remember this on English telly as a teenager!
I still have the book and enjoy reading it. Absolutely love this. Thank you 😊❤️
I remember watching this when I was a teenager even now it still leaves chills down my spine
As a footnote to this post I really miss the era of miniseries like this
I was 18 and watched this with my Mom. She is passed on now and here is that movie again!
That "psychology" at the beginning 😂😂😂
loved this show thanks so much for posting this
Read the book in the 80s and just read it again. I did not know there was a movie. !! It's fall 2023
Thank you so much love the old movies and a big fan of Betty Davis
The book was undoubtedly a masterpiece. Thomas Tyron was up there with Stephen King. ❤
The book was absolutely great! Better than the movie!
Whatever the widow is, it's ancient and pagan. That's why she knows so much.
This movie scared the hell out of me when I saw it at 10.
THANK YOU, so much! What a gift!!
If you have asthma you don't move to the corn fields you move somewhere where's there's no humidity.
If fictional people did things a fraction as intelligently as even the simplest real-life people, movies and novels would all last about 8 minutes.
i had severe asthma as a kid. when i had attacks my parents put me in a room with the hot shower on to breathe. it worked.
Aunt Jackie's husband from "Roseanne" and Carol Seaver. Bette Davis, as spooky as ever.
Someone with bloodied hands points at me and starts screaming? I'm outta there!! O_O
Especially if they look like a demonic little girl.
@@wendymonette9958 - She's not a "demonic little girl", she's a "prepubescent pagan princess"!
Some lady dressed in black shows up in every pik, but I didnt see when I took the pics, never going back to that area. No way in hell.
Thanks for posting this! Would you mind setting it so that auto-generated closed captions are available? You can do that in settings. I'm a bit hard of hearing and find it really helps. Thanks :)
Me too. And some of the auto-generated stuff is hilarious, so that's a bonus. :o)

Yeah you said that already.😀
Good Flick. It kept me interested and I'm looking forward to the conclusion...
I remember this as a young kid , I was scared of it & I tried to remember the name of it .. can’t believe at 55 I’m watching it again
thanks, Glenn, great movie!
Love this flick. Thank you for posting! BTW, there is an audiobook of this available on CD.
Creepy fun. The moral of the lesson. If you cross the bridge and decide to stay it's best to just go with the flow. Swimming against the current can have dark, and I do mean dark, consequences.
Haven't seen this in a very long time thankyou for sharing
I hate being an insomniac ... I always watch a movie before bed in the hopes of falling asleep. Before I know it I am invested in the movie and characters and can't stop watching until it's over. I picked a long one tonight so I am really wanting to get some sleep. I tried all the ASMR crap and there is always some kind of sudden, unexpected noise that jolts me awake the second I am almost asleep. I am starting to think it's a conspiracy. Maybe some sleeping tablets if I could find the right one. Okay I'm done rambling for now and have to stop before I write a bloody novel. Night, night ✌
I remember this when it was broadcast. I loved it.
"That old woman in black, with the white thing on her head!"
"She's got Bette Davis Eyes!"
Wow never heard of this so I'm happy for you tube as usual.
Brings back so many memories of when I was a kid
This scared the shit out of me and froze the piss in my bladder as a kid. So hard to find a decent copy of it, but this appears to be pretty good audio and video, Thank you very much!
sissy boy.
Tool.
The book was better, and Paul likes to call everyone sissy boy or pussy.
I remember watching this when it first came out and it’s just as terrifying now as it was then 🧡🧡🧡
That tombstone said 1971 on it, & it's 78' in the movie, the family missed that clue so far. I'm only half an hr into the film
My God! The lovemaking scenes between those two are horrifying.
Ikr?
I would RUN from that if someone tried it on me!!!
All I can say is "Read The Book."
I don’t remember seeing Bette Davis and Cornwall Coombs until Beth and Nick moved there. Is this a director’s cut?
Great movie. The 70s saw a lot of great drama. The author, Thomas Tryon, previously had written The Other, which was made into another good film.
They need to re-do this story for the big screen... It's a great story.....Mike in LA, Calif, USA
UNICOMP I completely agree with Glenn close as widow.
Let’s not forget that the little girl in the movie is Tracy Gold from Growing Pains
I LOVE Bette Davis and I LOVE this movie/book. Thanks for posting!
David Ackroyd is always an interesting and compelling performer. He was the original Gary Ewing on Dallas. He’s well cast here.
He was also a commentator on the History Channel's "History's Mysteries" for many seasons. I could have listened to him for hours, cheerfully.
More than a little shades of Shirley Jackson's "The Lottery.." I can see it coming.
Goody. That, I can live with.
If it is 1977 or 1978, I am watching it....
So creepy.
Nuthin like Plowing Day to refresh one's spirit and nourish ones's soul.
